More Spinnerette Art AND Important Updates (Patreon)

So I was commissioned by Krazy Krow, creator of the popular Spinnerette webcomic (https://www.spinnyverse.com) to draw more artwork for him. The first is an action shot of Spinny leaping from a building, the other is a cutesy chibi bikini illustration, just something easy and cute that only took me an hour to do. I had fun doing the chibi, I might open up chibi commissions, actually.

She was such a tough character for me! The two full images (including her civilian form, which I'll include below in case you missed it) took me more time than usual because of the unusual anatomy and the backgrounds, since I'm still getting used to doing those digitally after mostly doing them by hand for years and years. The one of Spinny jumping from a building was meant to resemble a panel from a comic page, minus sound effects and dialogue and such.

UPDATES:

As you may have noticed, I did start charging again. I hope you enjoyed the three (four?) months of free access! I have decided in the future if my production levels go down, as they might this year as I continue to deal with a few crappy hands life dealt me, I will NOT charge you. If I am not posting several times a month with something substantial, you will not be charged for the next month. That's my new rule. 

But as it turns out, I do have quite a few things for you guys this month and next.

Still Doing Commissions?

Yes. I decided I would not go back to doing FaLLEN chapters until my stimulus checks arrived... and THEY HAVE NOT ARRIVED. Apparently the IRS is super backed up this year and I have heard zippo back from them since I filed my taxes in early April. They owe me three stimulus checks and until I get them I kind of need to keep taking commissions and focusing on that. Obviously I will be posting art here, and since I am charging this month rules go back to the tier system and I will posting behind the scenes stuff to the $5+ tiers.  After I make this post I will post a $5+ post that shows some of the individual layers of the leaping Spinny illustration.

I will have more commission stuff to post this week, for sure. 

Also of note, I am flatting my friend Heidi's comic for her series Cottons, which is published by First Second. I am not sure if I can share any of this, but I will if she lets me! (it's just flatting colors, though!) This is actually a big chunk of where my time goes.

FaLLEN Status?

As mentioned before, I need those stimulus checks! Until they come in I am likely not going to start the artwork, because as I have mentioned I am basically going to have to reboot the whole series. Which blows :/ But I need to adapt and I want to eventually try to sell FaLLEN to US publishers instead of going the indie root for forever, and to do that I HAVE to have it in left to right format and I PROBABLY SHOULD have it in color. I have been using some of my down time to read more American comics and get a feel for the flow of this medium in preparation. 

I have very recently started the script for Chapter 1. I am rebooting the series but it will essentially be exactly the same EXCEPT for the first three chapters. I have always felt the first three chapters were not great at hooking audiences and I feel I made some stupid rookie mistakes, and since I need to retool the series anyway, I'm going to redo JUST those first three chapters. It will still be more or less the same, but Lamia will have a larger role in the first chapter and they will no longer be naked, because times have changed since I first started FaLLEN and nudity is more and more not acceptable by anime audiences (which is very weird to me, who grew up on 90s anime). I want to have the series be a bit more mainstream and grab a larger audience, so a lot of the nudity is going to be greatly reduced, especially in those early chapters. 

I am rebooting, but it really will be largely the same, only in color and left-to-right. I actually plan on tracing most of it from the original, even the stuff I rework a bit. Chapters 4 onward will essentially be exactly the same. I lost a massive chunk of my audience when I went on hiatus and this is the only way I know to stay relevant.  On the plus side, this means I can stream on Twitch more often!
