I've been meaning to write this up for a while, but for several months I've been wanting to reach out to you guys about what is really important to you and what you want to get out of this Patreon the most. I want to encourage you guys to comment below as well with thoughts and suggestions.
As one of my friends (and patrons!) often points out to me, I tend to over-schedule myself. I was looking at my Patreon page and was like "geez, I never have time to do all of this." I want to be more realistic with this page and I want to be able to deliver what I promise. So there are going to be some changes, and I want your input!
1. Tier Reduction
Once I finish FaLLEN Volume 2, I am going to go through and start slashing away some of the tiers. I have not decided what the highest tier will be yet, but I'm thinking $20 at the moment. I'm going to take away shirts and rework the requests section. Keeping up with long-term promises has been hard and I haven't done a great job of it, and I think a lot of people who contribute are pretty silent and sometimes it's hard to organize things like postcards or shirts or whatever. Plus, I never post chapters from the novel because I have not had the time to go in and update them, so that seems like another thing that needs to go (at least until I do have the time).
Other than the New Year postcards, I want to reduce the number of items that are physical rewards. Keeping up with changing addresses and art boards sucks. (learned from Kickstarter...)
2. Videos
I promise con videos, but frankly I have no cons on my schedule for this year. I do want to do more videos-- I have gotten a lot of requests for how-to videos and people have been anticipating my review videos, and once the Kickstarter stuff is done I want to jump right in and finish the ones I've started.
3. Better Buffer
I'm a slow worker, I need to acknowledge that. I will be taking a break from comics for a few months before I start posting Vol. 3 chapters (in that time I'll do illustrations and videos instead). When I do actually start drawing pages, I'm going to wait until I have a full chapter finished before I make the pages public. That way, you guys will REALLY be ahead of other readers. I'm also considering changing the format from two-page updates to single-page updates on my public sites while keeping you guys at a two-page per update schedule. I want to make seeing pages in advance the main draw to my Patreon, especially now that tagging is possible, making it easier to organize posts.
4. NSFW Drawings? Non-FaLLEN Artwork?
I started checking out other Patreons by comic artists and saw a lot of people who have SFW comics do NSFW bonuses on their Patreons. I got no qualms with drawing softcore/ecchi stuff, but I have no idea how many of you would be interested in that. I noticed the majority of requests I got on Kickstarter were for art of the girls in their underwear, swimsuits, nightwear, and I got a few requests for nudes of the girls making out (nothing over the top). Personally, I'm all right with drawing this stuff (unless it's Ora or the Munchkin...) but is this something you guys want? I made a poll so if you're shy about it you can say so without having your name attached :D
If I do NSFW art, it would likely be the highest tier, like $20, and uncensored. I don't typically post uncensored art anywhere but here, and at the $20 tier most people who do NOT want to see NSFW art can avoid that by pledging to a lower tier.
And how do you feel about seeing non-FaLLEN artwork? I had wanted to do a lot of fan art this year, both for myself and for my portfolio, since I never get to do it, and during my break I wanted to work on some ideas I've had written down for a while. But is artwork of non-FaLLEN characters something you want on Patreon? I figure I'd be able to do more livestreams if I do this, and I can post line art or PSD files if you guys want. I could take more requests, too, if I make more room on my Patreon and get rid of some of the other stuff.
5. Other Things?
I want to know what you guys want! Changes are probably going to go into effect near the end of April. Comment away!
