Holly visits the UK, makes a new friend, gets a novelty mug.

I'm so excited! 😊

This is a crossover episode between Jack & Jill and my amazing friend Alyson Greaves' The Sisters of Dorley.

This snapshot ended up being much longer than intended - longer even than a typical episode, but I couldn't help myself. I had so much fun writing Holly and her new friend together.

If you haven't already, you should absolutely, definitely, 100% subscribe to Alyson's Patreon for more The Sisters of Dorley and many other fantastic trans stories.

Awesome story. Now this has me thinking about if Bella's organization and New Horizons are in the same world as well. I think people would start to notice that the male population is going down a bit. lol.

Maggie Heels

Aaaaaaaand you did it... 😁 There is hope in Holly... she can move on with her life and do something better... and YES I am sure that what is happening in Dorley is morally better than selling people like objects by Xu (btw I am not questioning what Dorley does in comparison to our real world though... hehehe)

Maggie Heels

Will this continue in this format? Or it was only a single crossover story, one time thing?

Omagathief

Omg, they are kidnapping men from here in the UK 😱🫣. Great crossover story

Jade Diaz

What she said 🤪🤪🤪😍😍😍🫣🫣🫣

Really dumb questions here: Is it safe to say that this is canon? Are you planning more crossovers? If so, YES, I love Sisters of Dorley!

Robertlouis

I can think of a few nominees in that case, starting with the government…

Robertlouis

Me too. Alyson’s Dorley novels are classics of the genre and essential reading. And her writing style is unique, as you can see from her collaborations with Emory.

Robertlouis

This is just fantastic, Emory. The first time in her long history throughout Jack and Jill and elsewhere that Holly has really bared her soul and it is heartbreaking. Yes, we knew that she was completely amoral and would break any moral standard in order to secure her own survival, but her self awareness is so acute that she knows that all too well, and her self-loathing is her predominant emotion. And the fact that she only feels “at home” on Xu’s island and alien, and alienated elsewhere, screams volumes at just how much her sense of values has been destroyed and distorted. For the first time in a very long time I not only understand but even feel sorry for Holly. Before you put this up she was a monster in my mind. That’s quite a feat of writing, Emory. You’re a more than capable psychologist. Oh, by the way, Brighton is notorious for the absence of sand on its beaches - they mostly consist of shingle and pebbles. But it’s a really fun city, and the most LGBTQ+ friendly place in the UK with the best annual Trans Pride march of them all. Great place. x

Gemma

Fantastic overlapping marrying of Sisters of Dorley and Jack and Jill stories. It helped provide clarification and great insight into philosophy of Dorley Hall and how it differs from Dr Xu’s evil empire. It was great to also gain some insights and increased compassion and understanding into treacherous world Holly has had to navigate. Well done again Emory (and thank you Alyson.

Maggie Heels

If I may answer to that question. From what I know it is a genuine legit CANON but idk if there are planned more crossovers in the future between these two stories or with other stories.

Maggie Heels

How I see the future of Holly... (my own subjective vision, so I had no idea how far this will be from actual future events planned by Goddess Emory) I'm predicting that Xu's Empire will colapse very soon... i am not exactly sure how but this is the only sensible way of thinking and that Goddess Jill will be the main cause of that... Furthermore I can already see with my imagination the scene where Holly and Jill are talking: Holly - i'll stay and help you rebuilding this to use this place for good, to help people... Jill - [giving a gentle kiss to Holly's forehead like a blessing] Nah... Here are enough girls to help me clean this mess... we will do what is necessary, you can go, help others... help Maria... Call me soon, please and I always wanted to go on vacation to UK you know? Holly - You mean holiday, my dear.. BOTH GIGGLING ❣️❣️❣️

ckarya

Wow, WOW! 🤩🤩 First of all, thank you both for working together and giving us this great crossover of stories between these 2 sordid yet endearing and wonderful worlds. Dorley in the comic, wow!... and Maria, wow! 😍 I see a lot of potential for a new comic when J&J is done... 🤔 And Holly, I have always defended that not everything is black and white, that she did some very mean and criticizable things, but that she was more victim than executioner. I like that a rebirth, or rather a redemption, appears on her horizon. One doubt, Emory, from Holly's hair I intuit that this snap happens before phase 9 and even before phase 8 or at the beginning of it. What is the timeframe of this snap?

Robertlouis

Oh, and Holly’s evasive response to Xu in the final scene makes it all too clear that she’s more than just considering collaborating with Maria. And Xu might think that if he loses Holly that he can easily find a replacement, but she’s unique and built in to his operation. This is how things fall apart, not with a full frontal attack, but with seemingly minor cracks from within.

siobhan

The fangirl squee I let out when I saw Maria. 🫣 Not my proudest moment. Excellent work as always. Seeing these worlds the two of you have created come together like this is such a treat.

Tim

It seems this happened sometime before Jill swapped handlers with Nikki back in Phase 5, Part 11. The coffee mug Maria gave to Holly made it's debut in Phase 8, Part 10 (Panel 13, in which Jill tells Ryan when and from whom she got it). I have no guess whether Holly accepted Maria's offer, but if she did sometime soon after they met in Brighton, then she must have been less than completely loyal to Mr. Xu for almost a year now.

Jade Diaz

It is intended to convey how I could not type coherently after reading the first 10 panels.

Emory Ahlberg

Zoe, I can't really say how happy I was to finally get this idea out of my head that has been brewing for AGES. Thank you!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Cry! Yes, as far as I'm concerned, all of my stories take place in the same "universe." That doesn't mean they're always connected, of course. It's interesting you say that. In Phase 8, Mr. Xu made it a point to inform Jill that over 150,000 young men disappear per year in the United States alone. I didn't make that number up! 😱

Emory Ahlberg

She's from Alyson's books THE SISTERS OF DORLEY. 💖

Emory Ahlberg

I'm really so happy you enjoyed it, Maggie! This idea has been living in my head for over a year. I absolutely needed to get it out and I'm proud of how it turned out! 😊 And, yes, this was just a single crossover story. Although, in my head, Holly is still in secret, contact with Maria and has managed to keep Second Dawn away from the UK for now. I first hinted at this crossover in Phase 8 when Jill has the mug that Holly gave to her. Holly told her it was from "a friend" -- but Jill thinks she made it herself lol.

Emory Ahlberg

Not a stupid question! I can't speak for Alyson but, yes, for Jack & Jill this is canon.

Emory Ahlberg

No other crossovers are planned - at the moment!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tamsin! I can't tell you how pleased I am with how this came out. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! It's rewarding to know that her character arc struck a chord with you. I thought it'd be fun to get a glimpse behind the mask and hopefully feel that twist of sympathy for someone you used to see as just a villain. I know many did! Spot on with your comment about how Holly's values have been warped. It's like she's tied to that island because nowhere else feels right anymore. It's kind of a twisted sense of belonging, but belonging all the same. And DAMN! I should've caught the no-sand detail. 😅 When I looked at reference images they were too far away. Aargh!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Gemma! Holly is a complex character. She's intelligent and resourceful, but despite the confident facade she presents, she's plagued by internal conflict. She's empathetic and feels guilt over her involvement in Second Dawn, yet she remains committed to the organization due to a lack of alternatives and a deep-seated fear of what might happen should she try to leave again. In the end, she feels very alone.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, CK! 💖 Honestly, I first had this idea over a year ago and I just could not get it out of my head. I kept sending Alyson snippets of their conversation that I wrote. Maria / Holly just seemed like the perfect foils to each other because of their circumstances. I loved writing their conversation... especially Maria because it really gave us the opportunity to see Holly truly vulnerable for the first time. Notice how Holly is defensive and dismissive of Maria's "program" right up until Maria offers her a no-strings-attached offer of freedom. Holly has not had that sort of raw kindness in years. Maybe ever. And Tim is correct! This snapshot would've taken place in summer 2019, about a year prior to Phase 8.

Emory Ahlberg

Good catch, Robert. And Mr. Xu rarely asks questions he doesn't know the answer to - he's well-aware that Holly didn't say Maria's name during their conversation or in her report. Yet he asks for it anyway? 🤔

Emory Ahlberg

Aww - sounds like MY proudest moment, though! 🥰 I'm really so happy with how this turned out. Being able to have Maria interact with Holly was sooo fun. I've been brainstorming their dialogue for months lol.

Ella Cherry

Love it! Great crossover! Unfortunately, I’m late on Alyson's saga, but reading this definitely made me want to dive back into sisters of Dorley as soon as I can!

Thomas Tolliver

I'm not aware of the other organization in the crossover, but it seems fun!

Robertlouis

Wow Tim. You’re not only eagle-eyed, but you’ve got a great memory. And that sort of cements the alliance between Jill and Holly for when Armageddon finally arrives. Or is that just wishful thinking?

Emory Ahlberg

Yay! I'm so happy you enjoyed it, Ella! Alyson writes incredible stuff incredibly fast so it can be hard to keep up. I speak from experience! 🤣

Emory Ahlberg

"The Sisters of Dorley" is their unofficial name and you can / should read more about them in Alyson's books! 💖

Emory Ahlberg

Sorry, Vivian, I didn't realize you already knew Maria. 💖
