Sorry, everyone. Obviously, the Season 3 Finale of Homecoming was supposed to drop on Sunday, and... it's not ready. I need one more evening to finish it.

I know. I KNOW. I do this. I keep doing this. There's something fundamentally broken in my brain where I look at a deadline, nod confidently, and then proceed to write what is apparently a small novel instead of a comic episode.

This finale is over 60 pages. I'm insane. I fully recognize this.

But... this season has been building to this moment for so long. Kris's confrontation with Bella. The resolution of everything she's been fighting for. The cost of her choices. The people she loves. I can't rush it just to hit a date. Both the characters and you deserve better than me scrambling to finish something half-baked.

So I'm asking for one more evening to get it right, to make sure this season the ending it deserves. I'm sorry my perfectionism makes me a terrible scheduler.

But - when you read it - hopefully you'll understand why I needed the extra time. Thank you for your patience! ๐Ÿ’•

Don't worry... take as much time as your need especially now when popular holidays are coming... :) some wise guy said once "time not important, only life important" โฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธโฃ๏ธ

Garrett Murphy

Absolutely not a problem. Well worth the wait. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชโค๏ธ

Take all the time you need. I really hope you plan on resting over Christmas. While I love reading your work, I would prefer if you only do it because you want to and not because you feel obliged to do it. Deadlines are useful because otherwise nothing gets done (trust me, I speak from experience...) but when they get to rule over the work then they stop being good and start being a detriment, to the work and to the author's physical and mental health. Thanks for the heads up but you don't need to apologise. I'd rather it be good and late rather than half-arsed to meet a self-imposed deadline. Also, I hope you and yours have a fantastic Christmas and a happy and successful 2026. (The same goes for all the rest of the Emory-heads around here.)

Alyson Greaves

Happy to wait. (Happier still if you take care of yourself lol)

Tim

Oh, Emory, please don't beat yourself up... and please stop killing yourself with the overabundance of material you give us all each month. You are doing way, way more than what you've promised your fans (and you always do). Here's what you advertised in your "About" section: "Each month, I release 3 new episodes from two of my three ongoing comic series (Jack & Jill, Half Sisters, and Homecoming), which add up to 50 - 60 pages of content." Yet here you are equaling that monthly volume in a single episode. I just unhid the "Stats" tab in your Google sheet and I invite all of your subscribers to take a look: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YvbRyqmW7gi8SEH-P7naOsFPRIpzAaemherILMXjv4M/edit?gid=1899589546#gid=1899589546 Scroll from left to rightโ€”from 2018 to 2025โ€”and you can't help but get smacked in the face by the growth of material you have produced over the years. You've been so generous to usโ€”PLEASE, it's past due time that you be generous to yourself.

Zoe Storm

It'll be a Christmas present! โค๏ธ

Claire

Donโ€™t beat yourself up about it. Deadlines are useful to keeping things on track but when the scope grows, deadlines understandably slip. Anticipation makes the result that much sweeter! And remember, you deserve to have a life as well.

Alison St John

I think you put too much pressure on yourself, always happy to see new content from you, it doesn't matter when, hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful festive time ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท

Kirsten Roberts

The extra time is so worth it!! This story especially is among the best youโ€™ve ever done and I am obsessed. Itโ€™s sooo good

Kris Greg

I was worried that you'd bitten off more than you could chew, & I'm not upset with you. You're my favorite TG story teller, & you've always seemed friendly. Don't destroy your mental health trying to make these deadlines.

Crystal Peaches

Please donโ€™t worry or over exert yourself!! What you do are works of art and takes time plus none of us want you burning out over the festive period!! Much love and hugs to you! xx

Alex Hait

DO NOT ever apologize. Your work is fantastic and you should only put out when you feel it is ready. And your work is worth the extra days. We do not feel used or taken advantage of if you take a few extra days.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Maggie! I appreciate your support so much. I just feel guilty - also I've very eager for you all to read it!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Garrett! ๐Ÿ’• I really can't wait to get it out to you all!

Omagathief

I agree take as much time as you need to give us an awesome last episode of this season of the comic. We are more than willing to wait in exuberantly excited anticipation of the episode

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Ellen. ๐Ÿ’• I truly love creating for you all, and I'm so grateful for the support I receive, so I guess that is why I feel guilty when I miss a deadline. But thank you for your wise words about the utility and the risk of deadlines. I promise I will rest. I admit I need a little time... I may need to arrange the schedule after this!

Emory Ahlberg

POT. KETTLE. BLACK. (and thank you ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•)

Jerome B

Good things are worth waiting for. Never more true than with your fabulous content! โค๏ธ

Wojtek

Don't worry so much about being late, what you create is always worth waiting for! Christmas is coming, you make so many beautiful comics that you deserve a rest! Rest is important too! Merry Christmas Emory ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’– we will wait for our present ๐ŸŽ

Delicurious

I'd rather see sometihing that you're absolutely happy with, but delayed, than that you would feel forced to sacrifice the quality of your work because of your self-set deadlines. You are an exceptional storyteller and artist, it is us who should be patient, instead of you feeling rushed. Don't forget to enjoy the important things in life. Merry Christmas!

Emory Ahlberg

You are so kind, Jerome. Thank you very much! You gave me a big smile. ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Crystal. ๐Ÿ’• I really needed to hear this today. The holiday stress is real, and knowing you all are patient with me means everything. I promise I'm not burning out - just occasionally lighting myself on fire with ambition! ๐Ÿ˜… Your support keeps me going. Hugs right back!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you for worrying about me, Kris. And thank you for the reassurance. You're right - I need to remember that my mental health matters more than arbitrary dates I set for myself. I'm working on it, I promise. Your kindness means so much. Thank you for being here. ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Kirsten! Thank you so much! Knowing you're this invested in the story makes every late night worth it. I can't wait for you to read the finale! ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Alison, you're right - I do put pressure on myself - it's something I'm working on. Thank you for the gentle reminder that life exists outside of deadlines. I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful festive time too! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Claire! This is such a thoughtful comment. You're completely right about scope creep - I start writing a scene and suddenly the script is thirty pages and I'm like "how did this happen??" ๐Ÿ˜… But you're also right that the anticipation makes it sweeter (I hope!). Your support means so much! ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Zoe! Yes! It absolutely will be! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’• Hopefully an early one.

Emory Ahlberg

Tim. TIM. You absolute legend. You're completely right.... You know me so well. Thank you, as always. It really does help me see that maybe I'm not actually failing when I miss a deadline - I'm just... operating on a different scale than I planned. Still something I need to work on (the planning part, and the being generous to myself part), but this really helps. You're amazing. Thank you for reminding me that I'm doing more than I think I am. ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Delicurious, thank you. This comment really hit me right in the heart. I think I forget sometimes that you all would rather wait for something I'm proud of than get something rushed just to hit a date. Thank you for the reminder to enjoy life and not just work through it lol. Merry Christmas to you too! ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Wojtek, thank you so much! ๐ŸŽ„โค๏ธ You're so kind and patient. I'm working on remembering that rest is productive too - it's hard when my brain just wants to CREATE ALL THE TIME, but comments like yours help me remember to breathe. Your gift is coming, I promise, and I hope it's worth the wait! Merry Christmas! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’•

StepBold2025

The care you put into the stories (HS, HC and J&J) is exactly what you excel at, and itโ€™s the whole reason Iโ€™m here. The art, the kink and especially at the level of detail and elaboration. Iโ€™d much rather wait for something this well-crafted than rush you. Please keep doing what youโ€™re doing. โค๏ธ

Tim

I can't ever imagine a sentence where "Emory Ahlberg" is the subject and "failed" is the verb.

Emory Ahlberg

"Emory Ahlberg failed to go to bed on time." ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thank you, Tim!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Step! The detail and story is where I live. Like, that's what I love about these stories. Thank you for writing me these encouraging words!๐Ÿ’•

Gemma

Oh Emory, please donโ€™t give yourself such a hard time. Your efforts always blow me away. I think I speak on behalf of so many of us in relation the high level of appreciation and trust we have in you and your creative process. What is more important is your well-being and enjoyment in producing your masterpieces. I would hate the pressure you put on yourself turning something you take such joy from, and give to us, becoming a chore. I look forward to, in your own time, the next magnificent episode of Homecoming. Have a great Christmas and best tidings for the New Year.

Lionel Rockman

Emory, all great artwork cannot be done to a timetable. Diana Gabaldon the author of Outlander is still working on her final book in that series. You are not alone in this!

Crewchick

Emory, thanks for the heads-up, because in all honesty I I am on the edge of my seat the night a new release is scheduled to come out, checking the sight multiple times for the upload. So the heads-up actually helps me put some of my own OCD in check. But don't worry in the least about an apology. Your process is your process. I think we all appreciate and subscribe because of what you deliver, not how fast you deliver. We all know what you will write and draw will be amazing. Well worth any extra time for you to get it "right" by your own extremely high standards. I appreciate your obsessions and focus. I too have trouble with deadlines and am horrible of setting realistic one for myself. In part for this is because I have both OCD and ADD, a sort of mental health "speed ball". My OCD makes me hyper focused on minute details and obsessive to the point of perfectionism. While the ADD makes me almost oblivious to those things outside my obsession bubble, including time. I can obsess over a paragraph I have written for hours trying to get all the factual details right, and the tone right and voice right. Yet the first person to read it after I am done can still find 10 spelling errors. It is completely frustrating. So I get you.

Robertlouis

You apologise because you care and youโ€™re a perfectionist. We understand that and we love you for it. Whatโ€™s more, we all know that itโ€™ll happen again, and we wonโ€™t mind, because itโ€™s you, and youโ€™ll still apologise, because itโ€™s just how you are. So, anyway. Have a hug. And Merry Christmas. ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ…โค๏ธ

Robertlouis

Itโ€™s really heartwarming to read all the comments and to see the universal warm support, understanding and empathy for you, Emory. Itโ€™s a reminder that what we care about most is you and your welfare. We donโ€™t mind waiting. Knowing that youโ€™re all right is what really matters. โค๏ธ

2026-09-14 23:00 Unbielevable it's a shame. It's should be forbidden. Clients are kings ( or queens or both) and you don't treat us likewise ( even if in france we beheaded them) Really it's... Ok. ( don't worry, i'm trolling. to much kind message before were posted. You needed a kick in the ass message but honnestly take you're time)

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! Thank you for the grace. Have a wonderful Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Yes. Reading these comments made me genuinely emotional. It's easy to forget how lucky I am to have all of you when I'm deep in the perfectionism spiral. Thank you for this reminder! ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Diana, thank you for sharing this. That push-pull between hyperfocus on perfection and complete time blindness is EXACTLY what happens to me. I'll sit there working on a few panels for hours, then look up and realize I've lost an entire evening. Your understanding and patience mean everything. Thank you for being here and for getting it. ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Lionel, this comparison made me smile! Diana Gabaldon is a legend, and knowing she's still perfecting her final Outlander book is oddly comforting. Thank you for the perspective! ๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

Gemma, thank you so much. You're right - my well-being and enjoyment in the creative process should matter as much as the output. I'm working on internalizing that instead of just treating myself like a content factory. I'm so glad you're looking forward to it! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’•

Emory Ahlberg

LOL - Thank you, Nolwenn! ๐Ÿ’• Glad I'm not losing my head tonight. Happy Christmas to you and yours!
