Today is the release of Chapter 3 of Liberation, which is a medieval fantasy collaboration between me and the always incredible Zoe Storm. Zoe is doing the (amazing) writing, and I'm creating the art - we're having a great time!

In Chapter 3, we have a flashback to before Hans' flight from the castle...

This story is set in a medieval world similar (but not quite) to our own, and it explores themes of power, identity, and survival in a time of revolution.

It has been so fun to work with Zoe on this project! I can't wait to read your thoughts. 💕

Like always, you can read it in your preferred format. Either with the image panels above, or you can download...

📱 EPUB (for your Kindle/phone)📄 PDF (classic!)

Thank you for your support! 💕

That was really good. This story is turning into a slow burn (pun definitely not intended) and I'm here for it.

I think Hans will be learning that maybe his father wasn't the great kind he thought he was!

I think that's becoming obvious. If I was to speculate, I'd guess that he becomes involved with the revolution and helps to heal the country.

I don't know what to say the second part is as good as the first. And it was a little obvious that someone had stolen the couronne jewels.

I had not expected such a traumatic and violent act to be undertaken against poor Hans who seems so innocent and naïve to his dad’s behaviour. Such a drastic way to ensure that there is no potential of future lineage to throne. This story has certainly drawn me in. It feels like such a long time between chapter and I am so curious to see where it will go from here. This story really has a cinematic ‘Game of Thrones’ feel. Well done! Great writing and art work.

The overly violent short sighted response is a normal quality of mob justice. The mob wants to lash out at someone, and at least the leaders of the mob were hoping Hans made it easy by reacting with violence. By surrendering, he put a damper on the violence of the mob, and the leaders went with the best they felt the rest of the mob would let them do immediately, but the mob might not be so supportive after the fact.

Crikey! (If you'll pardon my English.) If I read this correctly, he's had an orchiectomy from an untrained surgeon using an unsterilised butcher's knife (or similar). Evil as Davis is, I don't think that he'd even contemplate subjecting the Second Dawn "toys" to that procedure.

Did they snip twig and berries or just berries? I'm interested if the did both...

This story has both an epic scope and an intimate feel at its heart, like all the best world building fantasies should have. Hans and his small band of faithful friends and supporters have overcome many trials, but your big reveal in this latest chapter was literally visceral, shocking and traumatic, with enormous implications for Hans (Hannah?) and the future, if any, of his dynasty. What I’m noticing most about the art, Emory, aside from the generally muted tones, is the massive skies which dominate so many of the renders and help to lend the narrative that epic quality that I mentioned. I’ve even got the theme from Game of Thrones running through my head now, and there’s no higher praise! Great storytelling. I hope that this will run and run.
