Sandy’s first day at St. Christopher’s goes sideways fast when Jessica - the girl she kinda ghosted after their first date - corners her at club rush.

Phew! As always, Sandy and Nikki were so fun to write. I really love these girls - even as they continue to make mistakes just like the rest of us.

Can't wait to read your thoughts! 💕

That was a fun episode. Poor Sandy. Poor Jess. I feel for both of them. I hope Sandy can make it right. And hopefully she's managed to avoid the sorority... And the BBQ scene was hilarious. I laughed at the fake out image. I mean, obviously it wasn't what it seemed but the 'ooh err missus' of it all was wonderful. Suddenly it turned into 'Carry On Transing'. But then for Nikki to show actual genuine emotion... our girl might - perhaps - be growing. And congratulations on faking the football talk! It was so convincing I managed to totally zone out while reading it!

Zoe Storm

Oh so Jess 100% knows Nikki used to be Nick huh

Maggie Heels

Good ribs are the answer for EVERYTHING ❣️❣️❣️ And I was wondering if there will be enough 'drama' during their schooltime other than obvious main subject related to Hutchinson... poor Jess and page 19 now i understand why you don't like ketchup... ketchup would ruin this image... 😁😊❣️❣️❣️

Day one, and already Jessica's probably piecing the Nikki story together. Girl was dropping hints like crazy, and there's other evidence she'll have soon (like Nikki hanging around Lauren). At least we know she's someone that won't be shitty about it? Everyone in this scene is going through so much, but it honestly went about as well as could be expected. Sandy didn't try to make excuses, Jess is still willing to talk, Nikki... tried to step up and help as best she could. Not quite a win for anyone, but like Nikki's football analogies that I assume make sense, the game's not over yet! I'm also very much enjoying watching Nikki get unwittingly caught in the gravitational pull of field hockey, lol. Even as everyone keeps calling her too skinny (which I thought was weird, until I took a good look and compared her arms to the other girls'... yeah, she's a bit of a twig in some ways). I see narrative patterns emerging, though!

Intense episode. I had forgotten all that Jess has been through. Her anger, and outburst is certainly understandable in the months and months of built up emotional anxiety and fear she held arising from to Sandy’s disappearance. Sandy will have to ‘man up,’ and apologise unreservedly. Ultimately she has no real defence that excuses her ghosting her friend. However, I am also hopeful that through Sandy opening up more about her situation, which will in any case be revealed to some extent when she comes out as a trans girl, that Jess might be more understanding of her. Jess’s radar has already begun to pick up some vibes in regard to Nikki. I do hope that they both (Sandy and Nikki) as a duo reveal, and open up to some extent at least, aspects of their situation. This will fare them both better than Jess putting two and two together, as I suspect she will at some future date. Jess may also prove to be a good another good confidant and ally, as well as being more sympathetic towards Sandy and Nikki. Wow! Lots of new experiences and ‘girl drama’ that both Nikki and Sandy were both very naive and not prepared to encounter. The images as always are amazing. I love the subtle little things like bbq sauce on the side of Nikki’s mouth. I also loved the closing image and affirmation they provide by holding hands, symbolically showing their connection and how they have each others back. Communicating to each other their special bond and how through this they can overcome any drama that either of them may encounter.

Gemma

In regard to Nikki being ‘skinny,’ I do hope this continues and that the super hormones she is on ensures that no amount of even dedicated weight training to ‘bulk up,’ leads to her regaining any strength, size or muscle.

Crystal Peaches

Once again you marry great visual with an emotionally complex story. I really feel for both of the sisters. Kind of makes me sad but in a good way. I just wish they find happiness but I’ve a feeling this is not going to go as smoothly as I would want it to!! xxx

Another brilliant episode with a compelling story and excellent artwork. I'm surprised that you're managing to do such work as you're engulfed in the inevitable chaos of moving. I hope that's going as well as it ever does. I was with Sandy when she said that she had no idea of what any of that means. For once, though, my incomprehension is not due to something being too American or too twenty-first century, neither of which would have puzzled Sandy. I recognise that it's sports jibber jabber, so I feel no need to understand it. I suppose that now that they know Sandy's a friend of Jessica (is that the lesbian equivalent to a friend of Dorothy?) the sorority girls will be less keen on Sandy. Barbecue isn't really an English thing, so that lost me a bit. Maybe that has more to do with the fact that I currently have a stomach upset, so, just now, food of any kind repulses me. The storyline is hotting up and it looks as though Jessica and Mack will be major players, and not just hockey players. (I already knew that Americans call hockey 'field hockey' so there was no puzzlement over that. Ha!)

Jenny S

Oh, the drama! I'm glad Jess is back in the mix, her righteous anger while not having the complete picture is a wonderful wrench in the works, and the way she bounces off both Sandy and Nikki is electric. Add in the threat of this sorority and all these hobby sports, and Half Sisters is feeling like a really good television drama, like the best parts of Felicity but with trans girls and forcefem :D Cheeky pic! Cheeky horny pic! <3

Tuor

Very nice chapter, I'm so happy to be here!

Jade Diaz

If you put ketchup on your bbq here in Texas you’ll be lucky to be thrown out into the street.

Jade Diaz

Can confirm 99% of UK “barbecue” is dreadful

Jade Diaz

Literally frothing for Sandy’s mean girl/villain heel turn

Jessika

Are you setting up "The Girl Squad" here?...lol Nikki, Sandy, Jessica, Lauren, Evie, and Mack going toe-to-toe with the Zeta Reds in some climactic "Anti-Trans Showdown"! As someone who was in the Greek system in college...there is no way the Reds are not going to use their eventually being outed as trans against her....especially if Sandy turns them down for not joining the "reds". (BTW, are they "red" to represent the MAGA hate?...makes sense.) But, this new "Squad" will make an awesome group of friends. And funny how they all have "history"....everyone hooking-up with everyone....except poor Evie and Mack...haha. But I wouldn't put it past you to set-up some crazy orgy with all of them one drunk "girl's night out"! It is going to be very interesting how this chessboard you've set-up now plays out....so many things happening. Zach/Armando & the black cheerleader....Ron and the team...Jessica & Mack with Nikki on the teams playing sports (and being outed as trans?)...Lauren & Evie trying to lookout for Nikki....The Zeta Reds causing drama as Alpha Kitties on campus...and then there will surely be Hutchinson coming back into the picture with Nikki removing her cage and not dating Zach. Then "The Moms" will reunite from their college days to deal with Hutch...and find common ground again as besties thru their "daughters"! ...just my two cents worth....haha p.s. ...would be nice for Jess & Mack to date! ...

Pet Jeffery

As I said, barbecue isn't really an English thing. If 1% of UK barbecue isn't dreadful (as you imply) I haven't encountered that 1%.

Alex Cioranic-Alex From the Tri-Cities

Sandy, just because Mrs. Ferris had your testicles removed and you were scared and traumatized is NO reason to ghost your crush. Make it right, young lady. Summer Chastity Crowe©™: "-Ladies, where are your table manners? Oh, hi Nikki. Nice to see you again. How are you and Zach Hutchinson doing?" Shunfen Xu©™: "-Summer is right Nikki. A proper lady doesn't eat like this. Also, it's quite rude not to introduce us to your new friends."

Maggie Heels

Lol I don't even know what "bbq" means there is no such word/abbreviation in my native language ;)

mdaily

I thought that Sandy was planning on being openly trans? If so, I think that would probably put a kibosh on her being part of the Reds. Also, I think Nikki is not off to a great start at protecting her identity. A number of people are picking up on some cues. It would be interesting for Nikki to realize that in spite of her extreme fitness, her "beanpole" status (and super hormones) might limit her options as a female athlete.

Emory Ahlberg

I’m so happy too, Tuor! Did you have to go away for a bit???

Bella Lime

Awwwwwww. also, now I'm hungry.

Robertlouis

They just need one more ally to make up a new Magnificent Seven! Now that would be a showdown and a half.

Robertlouis

As long as this season ends with Hutchinson in a fetchingly brief bikini and his own set of 36Ds, I don’t think anything else will matter.

Gemma

Further reflection and random thought around Nikki’s attempts to support Sandy. I was amused by Nikki’s opening line to Sandy and Jessica - “Hey, fellow girls. What’s up.” She almost appears to be showing some ongoing male assumptions and naivety she may still hold about girls, their interactions and relationships with each other. It seemed that Nikki was half expecting that this greeting would lead to a channeling of some underlying sense of female solidarity that she believes exists between girls that would melt away, distract and take away the conflict and tension being experienced between Sandy and Jess.

Emory Ahlberg

Whatever gave you that idea? 😉 But, yeah, and Nikki confessed to Sandy that she bullied Sofia: "I vaguely remember how, like, girly [she] was, and I... I made fun of her. I barely even remember doing it, but I made her life a living hell. Made her feel unsafe in her own school." So, Jessica remembers "Nick" very well... 😬

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Phoebe! Jessica is smart! Plus, she spent years seeing Nick Palmer bully her best friend. Also, yeah, she's named "NIKKI" Palmer lol. Yeah, Nikki’s muscle loss is one of those brutal realities she’s constantly pretending isn't as bad as it seems. But going from a star athlete build to having twigs for arms hurts her ego more than she’ll ever admit! Field hockey is definitely creeping up on her whether she wants it to or not! But that competitive spirit needs an outlet or she’ll burst. 💕

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ellen! 💕 You know that barbecue sauce scene was way too much fun to write / render lol. I made myself giggle. And yes! Nikki's emotional growth is real, even if she fights it kicking and screaming every step of the way. Oh, and glad I hit the exact right level of authentic jock ramblings lol

Tuor

No, I mean I am happy to be a subscriber here and receive these delightful storys in my inbox to brighten my day! Thanks Emory 💖😘💖

Alex Hait

Love the last scene. What a wonderful friendship they have. So different and they each need other so much. Do they even realize how much they each need each other?

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Gemma. You're totally right about poor Jess. She's carried so much trauma from losing Sofia that Sandy’s sudden vanishing re-opened every single wound. Sandy has to own her mistakes here without leaning on excuses. Unfortunately, Jess has a lot of memories of Nick Palmer making fun of Sofia, and she is already suspicious.... Also, Nikki is an incredibly bad liar 🤣. And thank you for complimenting the art! The BBQ sequence was (maybe obviously) my favorite!

Emory Ahlberg

Yeah... that "Hey, fellow girls" entrance made me laugh. I loved their hands together... they’re facing a new world of messy social dynamics they never trained for (or expected), but having each other's back will hopefully make a big difference.

Emory Ahlberg

LOl - Second Dawn has the tech for it, so nobody should rule out a cursed ending for that man. But our eyes!!!

Emory Ahlberg

Bella, Alabama white sauce and burnt ends will do that to a person. Rendering that scene made my own stomach growl!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, M! Yep! I mean, she isn't exactly "advertising" it at the moment. But maybe Sandy's going to find out the Reds aren't as welcoming as they pretend. Nikki's her athletic ego takes hit after hit! She's been putting in the work, but there's a lot more to do...

Robertlouis

Nah. Just stick a brown paper bag over his head.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Jessika! Not going to lie, a squad made of Nikki, Sandy, Jess, Lauren, Evie, and Mack going to war with the Zera Reds sounds like a new take on West Side Story - one I want to see! And, yeah, sororities in Texas don't play around. Sandy might be stepping into a viper pit without realizing she's in danger!

Emory Ahlberg

💕 God, Sandy developing some sharp edges would be so fun to watch. She's gotta learn how to bite back!

Emory Ahlberg

Aww! 💕Tuor, that made my day. I'm so glad to have you as a reader!

Emory Ahlberg

LOL Jenny! 💕 Oh my god, I love the Felicity but trans and forcefem comparison. What a compliment! And, yeah, I mean... college drama's so much better when you throw sports into the pot, right? I was cackling about the horny pic hehehe

Emory Ahlberg

Pet, I'm hoping that stomach bug clears up soon so you can enjoy some food! 💕 And... yeah the moving chaos is very real right now. And I think you and Sandy are the same... Nikki speaks fluent jock while Sandy just hears background noise! Mack and Jess will DEFINITELY cause major waves both on and off the field! That's a promise.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Crystal! I'm really glad the feelings hit for you. Sandy and Nikki's journey will be full of bumps... but although smooth sailing isn't on the schedule anytime soon, that doesn't mean there won't be plenty of good times, too. I think that having each other's back gives them a fighting chance to find some real happiness along the way. 💕

Emory Ahlberg

Those Second Dawn super-hormones are no joke. That doesn't mean she can't get strong again, but it will look totally different from her old body of course.

Emory Ahlberg

Maggie, good ribs fix most problems! And, yeah, Campus life's gonna be packed with non-Hutchinson drama, between sorority politics, field hockey tryouts, and Evie bringing the Nikki lust lol. LOL, yes ketchup would ruin it... and in Texas that would be a crime against humanity.

Emory Ahlberg

Aw, thank you, Alex. 💕 Yeah, that last was my favorites of the whole episode. And not just because of the BBQ joke! Nikki definitely doesn't realize how much they'll rely on each other yet, but I think she's slowly getting there. I mean, they're the only ones who get what it's like in each other's shoes. And of course they're total opposites, but hopefully that balance helps to keep them anchored while campus chaos erupts around them.

Gemma

I guess I was expressing my hope around an aspect of reality that Nikki would ultimately have to adjust to and recognise. Not being able to reclaim one of her advantages of the previous masculine strength she had as a man. That no matter what Nikki does that, as a result of the ‘super hormones’ she is forced to take, that her physical strength now, even if it does increase her strength a little, will now be forever now be locked within the range that is no more (hopefully even less) than that of a normal average girl.

Jessika

Oh I know...I was in that world in college....it can be so layered and vicious....Sandy will be eaten alive with them sucking her into their web of flattery and poisoning her mind.

Jade Diaz

There’s a couple places in London that have average to below average bbq. Avoid everything else.

Emory Ahlberg

Oh, I've ALWAYS SAID you are TOTALLY the smart one, Jessika! And, like, also SOOO pretty! 😉💕

Jessika

Right back at you babe!

Crewchick

There is always crew for that physical and competitive outlet! Just saying... 😉 😂

Crewchick

Indeed another great episode! As always, beautiful ilustration, the girls, all of them, are captivating beyond words. Even the Zeta Red. I absolutely love the last three panels! They get to the heart of the character development that has, is and will continue for these two, and the bond they have grown with one another. Nicki is certainly getting her share of "skinny" and "bean pole" though. Has to be ego crushing, especially coming from other girls. It will be even more crushing if she tries out for field hockey and finds Mack able to easily manhandle her, and even Lauren getting the best of her on the field. And like I said about the last episode, Sandy still has some 'splainin' to do. So far she has riped off the first of three band-aids with Jess. The next will be that she is trans. In the abstract that may not bother her. But being as they were already intimate and Sandy said nothing, she is likely to again feel she was lied to by Sandy. That will be a second strike where Sandy's integrity is in question. If Jess manages to stick around even after this, Sandy will be on some thin robe. However it may resolve the Sandy-Josh-Jess triangle. If Jess prefers her partner not have certain apendiges, it may through Sandy into the friend zone. Which might allow their friendship to grow without the romantic angle causing problems for Josh. But then there will be the last band-aid, "Mom"! That will be the hard one for Jessica to swallow. She has built Mrs. Ferris out in her mind ot be the biggest villian. Seeing the wealth Sandy is easily living in, her positive Mother-Daughter relationship with Mrs Ferris will go agaisnt all that Jess has believed and built up in her head. This wil be the biggest betrayal for her. In part because she blames not just Mrs. Ferris but herself. But if Sandy can get her to listen and believe it will be the biggest reelation for her, but may also help her feel less guilt that she was somehow responsible for Sophia's death. I can't even begin to imagine how you set and write that conversation. I suspect it may take several episodes and a lot of drama and pain before Jess fully learns and accepts the truth. Now Jess and Nikki, oh my,my my, OH MY! There is some bad blood there that is going to take a lot more than just some explain to get over and past. Nikki may have the biggest Mea Culpa yet that she has to give on behalf of Nick. With Zach they were best firends at first and Nick was his protector. So while QB Nick was an ass to him, they had a foundation they could dig down to and rekindle. It seems like Jess has only known Nick not Nicky, and not been a fan. So trying to prove Nikki has a sould and is truly contrite will be very hard. Or was Jessica one of the girls in Mrs. Palmer's Girl Scout Troop? Might she be able to find Nicky and let go of Nick becasue of that earlier connection? Again, this should bet very interesting and will likely take several episodes to get through. Glad to see Nikki having her "birthday month"! My birthday is in September, so if you were thinking on being extra generous with the servings of Half Sisters in September, you would get no argument from me! 😉 As always thank you for writing and sharing such an amazing story with such great characters.

Crewchick

Almost forgot! Jess seems to have clocked Nikki as Nick. That or at least has come to the same assumption of close family and eggcorns not falling too far from the tree. But she has probably clocked her. Which leads to a very interesting question what must Jess be thinking since she does not know the real story and the real story would almost sound like an elaborate lie to her. A secret island where a crazy doctor turns kidnapped men into transwomen for the super wealthy? Sounds like some kind of trans pulp fiction kink or something found on the web. But the guy who tormented Sophia for being effeminate, and later Zach while on the team for being suspected of being gay, is now back at school fully and quite exquisitely transformed into a trans girl. That has got to be mind blowing, and when she does hear about Second Dawn, her first reaction may be "Karma" and justice. Though mixed with some bitterness as to why does Nick Palmer get to have this transition and not Sophia. I suspect that scene when we get to it will be powerful, deep and emotional. Maybe we will even see you find a way to inject some moments of humor into it as in a normal world it would be sound almost rediculous.

SingularCurve

BBQ solves a lot of problems for sure, but that damn sauce sucks. Only a good ol fashioned Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce is good enough for me. Then again, I am allergic to tomatoes and gluten.

Bartoon

Nikki is so damn hot in those shorts. The way she pushes her hip out. Ooooof. So good. So hot
