“Nothing changes instantaneously: in a gradually heating bathtub you’d be boiled to death before you knew it.” - Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale.

A day late.... Sorry!

But almost 40 pages... Not sorry!

Yeah, I really wanted this one to be right. To be honest, Homecoming has always been the story that asks the most of me, and the Season 4 premiere needed to be as good as I could make it....

Oh, and I worked pretty hard on upgrading the textures for a few of the characters. I hope it's noticeable!

Kris and Chris's story is deeply important to me. There's something about writing a person at war with themselves - literally! - that I can't quite let go of.

Can't wait to hear what you think. 💕

Camila is pre ordering. And that’s why you don’t name your kid a name that can be shortened into a dog’s name like Benji.

I said I couldn't predict where this was going to go, and I was right. Holy crap! Camila jumping up from henchmen to instigator, Kris's beautiful montage of conflicted emotions, and Chris finding himself in the mind prison backrooms, we are off to a roaring start! I am so pumped for this, Emory! Also, great job in communicating motion in static images with Chris trying to beat down the door, the hair really sells the effect. <3

This is an awesome start to the chapter/episode. We get to see Benji being put in a similar position as Chris/Kris before and I can't wait to see Benji's female form. I like how Kris is enjoying her "happy life" with Alan as well as Dustin, who calling Kris his mother lately. Within Kris' mind, Chris, who is now fully transform into Kris, wants to get his life back, if it's possible. He as her in the mindscape is trap in this endless room like maze and these rooms represent memories different points of Kris/Chris' lives. It reminds of duel identities of Jack and Jill as Jack as fully embrace his rebirth as Jill. I got a feeling that Kris and Chris will reach a crossing point where one of them either passed on fully. Chris would overtime realized that Kris, even though she ruin Chris as well as Benji lives, but notice how much she loves her life with Alan and Dustin. I have a feeling that Chris will depart to the afterlife once he fullfill his mission as well with Kayla and Benji in dealing with Bella's organization. I really like the visuals for Kris's life and each of pictures has things foreshadowing coming in upcoming episodes/chapters. I like Kris' short hair and you should do pin-ups of her with that hairstyle.

Wow, I am actually impressed with the dialog between Ben and Camila. So Camila has had her eye on Ben this whole time and only used Chris/Kris to get to him. That is a twist I did not see coming. And she appears to be more than a little stalkerishly obsessed with him. Really interesting twist. How does she hold down her job as a cop and still find time to work for Bella? Ben may likely be the hardest prisoner to break, because Kris told him everything, so he knows a whole lot more and can anticipate a lot of the things coming next. This should be interesting.

What an intense psychological thriller with amazing twists and turns. The full complexities of human nature, fears, insecurities, courage, compassion all mixed up with and by unmet needs and desires for love and acceptance. It is so interesting , even scary at times to see different flavours, extents and pathways a person will undertake to meet their unmet needs to be loved. I was surprised by the twist in the dialogue between Camilla and Benji. Initially thinking she is driven by some some deep seated hatred rather than for love, even if the means she undertakes are the reflective of a twisted mind, she to is motivated by unfulfilled desires for love. Later in the episode we can see from Kris betrayal, love has come at the cost of selling your soul, your principles and your humanity soon begins to taste sour. It was nice to see the internal fight back of Chris emerging, triggered by the love of a child that challenges and reawakens within Kris the hypocrisy and pretence around the person that she presents herself to be. Amazing psychological masterpiece that leaves us guessing which if the elements and parts with will dominate.

I have so many thoughts to write down........ but I have an extremely busy and exhausting day at work sooo... I need much more time to write it all down...

I am currently mentally ready to talk only about hairstyles... And yes... I really like Kris neck length hairstyle as well... but for Camila's one is a huge no from me...

Kris Greg

Brutal I'm looking forward to what comes next!

It seems that this is Chris struggling to fight and losing badly to Kris, my dearest muse Emory. Panga of a guilty conscience are always very painful. And that empty hallway, feels so much like a depiction of Hell from the Twilight Zone... feel free to tell me how wrong I am

What a breathtaking story this is. I can see this being a series on HBOMax or something. Multilayered, complicated characters and motives. Wonderful engrossing stuff

Wow indeed, Great Story Emory Ahlberg seems you've been saving this one up.

Dang... I can honestly say I never would have guessed exactly what Camila was up to! It makes sense, though, with what we know of her and her involvement so far. Turns out, she saw a genuinely decent man who appreciated her as a person and as a fellow cop, and just couldn't see the "man" part as anything but a critical flaw that needed to be corrected... And Chris being collateral damage all along, after all we've seen from his (and Kris') perspective... jeez. There's still a lot to be explored with them, and it looks like with Ben being taken there's finally going to be some cracks in Kris' control. What's going to be interesting is seeing how Chris handles things from here - clearly, he's been stuck in the trauma of what was done to him while Kris has been taking over. We're well past the trying to reclaim his old life phase, and now the focus is Ben being taken, but will he be able to claw back some control? What would he even do with it? I have no idea, and that's what makes whatever happens next fun to look forward to! Btw, "You're a scar that learned to talk." is a line that goes unnecessarily hard, damn. Kayla's not messing around anymore. (And I'm still unsure how right or wrong she is at this point!)

Ah yes!! The infinite corridor of doors in the mind! The classic! I was really happy with that ending of the chapter!

Even knowing what is ahead, the system can still break even the hardest of minds. Ben is not as hard as he seems in my estimation.

That stark and shocking opening image always takes my breath away and prepares me for the darkness to come, but this episode almost surpasses everything that has preceded it. “Happily Ever After.” You’re kidding, right? Camila’s moral compass isn’t just broken, it’s been trampled into dust. Her world, and that of Bella (could they be the same person - and could there even be a Chris/Kris duality between them? In this universe, anything is possible) is reminiscent of the opening scene of Macbeth, where the three witches turn the world, and morality, upside down. Meanwhile, Ben is still trying to argue things from a rational standpoint in the hope that he can make a human connection with Camila. No chance. She, and Bella, left the world of compassion and empathy a long time ago. Perhaps one day we’ll understand why, but in this nihilistic nightmare, how much does motive really matter? This is truly horrific. And I love it.
