Something new!

The Spare is a story I’ve been wanting to tell for a while. You know how much I like historical dramas with a trans twist!

The art for this series is by the incredible Fraylim, and I'm already obsessed. I love the bright colors, the lines, and - my God, the GOWNS. You're all in for a treat, trust me.

This is Episode 1 of an ongoing series. There's more next week, and even more in November and maybe beyond.

Can’t wait to hear what you think! 💕

There's both a PDF and an ePub attached below if you're into that sort of thing!

Interesting. Certainly Johann seems like the unlikely hero or is it to be heroine of this story. The hurt of the rejection and negative assessment of him by his dad Henri. Knowing his dad favoured his older brother is one thing but openly wishing that Johann had died that rather than his brother Augustine is so heart-fully cruel. I’m assuming there is some done transformation and feminisation that will occur, just how and why I can’t even hazard a guess. So, I’m hooked! Added comments: love the art work and beautifully drawn characters Fraylim.

Aw, Johann's a nice kid. And his brother seemed nice, shame about him. Their dad sucks, tho.

The county seems to be based in France before the revolution if those outfits are anything to go by

Yay, another new story

Reminded me of the aesthetic poets in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience. I love your historical work, very much looking forward to the rest of this.

Thanks, Gemm! Yeah, Henri is the worst. And a gender change!? HERE!? That's crazy. 😉 Fraylim deserves so much love for the art!

Good eye, David! Valmeraine is my own invention, but it’s got a lot of pre-revolution France in its bones: the silk, the luncheons, the nobles throwing parties while the north burns. It’s got a German streak running through it too...

Yay! Glad you're here and reading because Johann’s going to need all the friends he(?) can get lol

Ha, Steve, that’s Johann to a T. Hand him a lily and he’d give you fourteen lines on it. The difference is Bunthorne’s a fraud pretending to be a poet, and Johann’s a poet pretending to be a fraud. 💕
