Lauren helps her ex-boyfriend Nicholas pick out the perfect bra...

We're ending the first month of 2022 with more Half Sisters! In the episode, we find out a bit more about Nikki's emotional state and her relationship with both her dad and Lauren. I'm curious what you all think of the dynamic between Nikki, Lauren, and Nikki's mom. As always, I really can't wait to hear what you think!

Oh my god. Nikki. You terrible, terrible jock, stop making me feel so sympathetic towards you. ...and then blowing it up when Lauren talked about your cheating. God, I love how Nikki is, at every stage, stubbornly refusing to learn any lessons from this, sticking up for her arsehole dad, and just generally being awful. I love that she hasn't succumbed to the dangerous idea that maybe everyone was right that she's kind of a prick :) (Maybe she used up all her empathy on eventually admitting Jill actually helped her!) She's such a good, fun character and getting to see her interact with people is a treat.

Thank you, Aly! Poor, irritating, stubborn, self-centered, Nikki. We haven't seen nearly as much of her physical transformation as most of the other characters (yet, although there is more to come), but I actually think that works because of just how damn hard she is to make feel sympathy for right now, even with everything that she's been through. And I know this should be obvious -- especially to me -- but I only just tonight realized that Nikki is the only main character without any kind of romance or love interest. She is just constantly pushing people away and I think that's because she's terrified of showing any tenderness or vulnerability. Her dad messed her up something fierce, I think, but of course at this point Nikki is only capable of feeling that he helped shape her into the "star" that she is today. In her mind, all of her father's actions are justified because the result was the best quarterback in the state. She has been convinced that nothing else matters -- and least of all her feelings or anyone else's. But she can't keep up this thick wall forever. I have plans for her... ...as does Lauren. 😉

Before Nikki was force feminised, Nicholas was force masculinised... God, it really is hitting me that front and centre in everything Nikki said on the island — and after — focused on what her body was *for*, not on who she was. (Which I know we talked about before.) But, Nikki, sweetheart, do you even *have* your own identity, under there, anywhere? Now I'm feeling sorry for her again. God damnit. > But she can't keep up this thick wall forever. OMG.... there is no scale to say how good it is... Maurice Moss from IT Crowd knows how good it is... "it is INSANELY BRILLIANT"... I think Emory is teaching us quantum physics here... because i am in superposition here for Nikki... i feel great sympathy for her and simultaneously hate her for her narcism etc.

It would be nice, if the treatment could shrink the volunteers a little bit too. To change the point of view even further. I always like the part in stories, when the "new girl" had to look up into the eyes of her ex-girlfrind ;-)

It seemed obvious to me that Nikki's mom was deliberately leaving Nikki on her own when she took off to get 'a pair of stockings". Who buys one pair? I do have to wonder if she was aware that Lauren was working at this particular shop. Was the meeting a deliberate set up on Mom's part?

Ha! That IS fun. Although I do think losing height might make Nikki go literally insane. 😉 The hormones will likely shrink her, but only by an inch or two. Still, it’ll be a blow to her who lose that “six-feet-tall” advantage if she’s suddenly 5’11!

Hmmmm! 🤔 Interesting theory, mdaily and Sky. We know that Lauren and mom had a good relationship while Nikki was dating her. It certainly seems possible she sent her a text. Although, if so, it was probably so that Lauren would help, not laugh uproariously. 😉

My point of view is that Nikki needs to learn feminity and how to behave as a girl with all the problems boys don’t know. I see a teaching not based simply on make up, outfits, colors, boys but in using those as tools to teach how a girl must behave with all the difficulties of being a girl but also the pleasure of being one… I think Lauren can take some devil pleasure, accordingly her experience with Nicholas, but also to be supportive with the task she has from Nikki’s mum…

I like your view, Chloé! I imagine it'll be a quite a while before Nikki is open to learning about the joys of femininity, and she's very, very arrogant so I imagine she'll be extremely reluctant accept any of the challenges or difficulties of being a woman. But her growth will hopefully be very fun to watch! 😀

Hi, I think lauren has a powerful lever to force Nikki doing things Nicholas would hate. Nicholas arrogance will lead him to very difficult situations we will like a lot. Emory, I’m sure you will play on lauren’s power she has on Nikki, moreover with nikki’s mum benediction. I’m so impatient…

Nikki is walking a tightrope with Lauren, because she could make his life very difficult in ways that she (Lauren) just does not comprehend. This is getting both very interesting but also even more intense.

I agree 100%, Chloé. Lauren will -- at least at first -- have a lot of fun with Nicholas / Nikki. After all, she believes this is a temporary situation and is looking for a little revenge. I don't think she'll be especially cruel -- just enough to give Nikki a taste of life as a gorgeous young woman and all the challenges (and joys) that entails. But I wonder what will happen if Lauren finds out the truth of her ex-boyfriend's situation...

You are right, that will be very interesting if Lauren discovers the reality of the « hormonal disbalance » it can change her behavior… we will see because if you speak about it, you must have something behind your head as we say in french
