A bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I don't want to say too much for fear of spoilers, but to quote my favorite wizard: "The board is set. The pieces are moving."

I'm pleased with most of the art in this one!

Oh, and I'm really eager for your thoughts on this episode! 🙂

Skye

Wow. Holy shit. I have no words, but I can't wait for the next episode.

Tiki D

This chapter is interesting and had major revelations. Madison thought that she was talking to "Jill" the whole time, but it was really Davis impersonating her the whole time. Like Dr. Hatcher said, Jill is very resourceful and clever to fool Davis with false information to respond to Madison. Madison caught onto to Davis' lies. Im guessing during the time while Jill was helping Ryan, Madison was talking to "Jill" aka Davis the whole time. She was about to contact Jack/Jill's father, but he's already gone. It's also it's surprise to see John Larson (Jack/Jill and Madison's father) for the first time. I still don't know about him, though. Don't get me wrong, he probably has more backstory coming in the next chapters about him decision leaving his family and treating Jack lesser than Emily, but it just seems too good to be true. There has to be more his reasoning than just getting his family back together. This part can go in multiple ways. Either, Holly or Xu wanted John to come to the Island intended as planned to help Jill escape or show him how Jack evolved into Jill. For Holly, she is a wild card from my perspective. She knows that Xu would 'depose of her' in replace her Jill, but wants revenge on him for what he has done to her, Jill, and the other victims. She would probably take John privately to discuss plan on take Xu down with Jill's help. For Xu, he probably has history with John long ago to get back at him through his son/daughter. I wonder how John would react to Jill appearance now.

Tiki D

I can't wait to see more Conner/Connie female transformation as well, especially his female complexion.

Tiki D

I wonder what Connie's voice would sound like?

Tiki D

You're right, Emory. The chest pieces are coming together.

Tiki D

I bet Xu wanted John to come on purpose to see how Xu has treated Jack/Jill like a daughter and his new heir in terms of Nature vs. Nurture from his perspective. I got a feeling Xu would use Jack/Jill's father to further Jill subordination.

Tiki D

Emory, I was wondering which alternate reality versions of Jack and Jill story do you like from my comments? Im always curious about seeing a "What if" scenario of Jack and Jill.

Tiki D

I wonder what would John be like as a woman?

Cryofly

Emory, you got the whole tension building thing mastered. Great job! Seeing the story from Madison's perspective and then popping into that last shot was very cinematic. Can't help but feel bad for Connor. Wasn't the best dude, but nobody deserves that. It's cool seeing Jack's face in your newer style as well. The lighting in all the slides was awesome.

TheVampire

Wow the story is becoming so exciting. Can't wait to see the new Connor.

Maggie Heels

WOOOOOOW ❣️❣️❣️Madison is very interesting character here... Curious if she'll manage somehow joining "the resistance" in time or she'll be only patiently waiting what will bring the near future... she's kinda far from being patient now for sure...

Doctor Stepford

Great episode can't wait to SEE connor srs. There so much scenarios that could happen now , great job em

Gemma

Great episode Emory. You know how to peak the interest of your reader and keep them guessing with this intriguing story. So pleased to see Madison returning to the story. So curious and excited by, and look forward to seeing further the ongoing and changed power dynamics in the relationship between Madison and her former boyfriend, now girlfriend Jill.

ckarya

Wow, the same thing always happens to me with the series change. I find that the new one is the best... until you pick up the next one hehehehe. Super interesting how the plot is developing, all the pieces are coming together, both literally (the island is going to overflow hahaha) and the story itself. I've already got the popcorn and beer ready..... PS: Em, you have to change the episode header of the render, it's wrong, it's 22 not 21... it's a silly thing but it gives me "toc" to see it like that...😉

Tiki D

Im still not buying that John is being sincere here. He just comes on the news and wants his family back all of sudden. It just doesn't make sense.

Bowie897

Quick! Everybody to the island!!!

Ella Cherry

Oh wow! Getting more interesting with each chapter!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Skye! A good "holy shit" was what I was hoping for. 😁

Emory Ahlberg

Very good theories, Tiki! We can see Holly and Angela in the background in the same shot as John. So they're definitely on the yacht with him!

Emory Ahlberg

Poot Connor / Connie. He's a bastard, but it's hard not to feel a BIT bad for him at this point. Still, I'm looking forward to the reveal, too!

Emory Ahlberg

You have so many interesting ones, Tiki! I liked your idea of the roles being played reversed between Jack and Connor. They're such different people that I think the story would be very different.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Cryofly! I'm happy the cinematic feeling came across because I literally had theme music playing in my head at the point. 😉 I always get a kick out of showing "male" Jack again with my new style. Of course, it also makes me want to go back and redo pretty much the whole comic. 😂

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you! We're definitely heading directly for the climax. Phase 9 will be BIG.

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks, Maggie! I was really excited to bring Madison back into the story. She had a big impact on both Jack and Jill. I thought it was important to show where she was in her journey, too. She obviously was hoping to restart her relationship with Jill -- but now that has been thrown into chaos.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Digi! ❤️ Yeah, as we get closer to the end (we're soon about to finish Phase 8 of 10), we're crossing a kind of event horizon of possibilities. I want it to feel like anything might happen!

Emory Ahlberg

Aw, thank you so much, Gemma. My personal goal is for each part to feel both satisfied AND wanting more. I've been eagerly looking forward to bringing Madison back into the story. She was a big part of Jack's past -- and may be a part of Jill's future!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Ella! We're nearing the end of Phase 8 now...

Emory Ahlberg

Well, remember that before this he had Emily and Connor -- and now both disappeared about 2 months ago (give or take).

Emory Ahlberg

Aww, thank you so much, ckarya! I try to make the series different enough that each is its own flavor. 😊 LOL - Yeah, there's a lot of people headed to the island. But it's the big contest! Who in their right mind would miss it? All of the Platinum Star members will be there... Didn't you get your tickets? 😉 P.S. Oops! Good catch, thank you!

Gosh Emory, sometimes it’s all too easy to forget just how many strands there are to this multi-faceted story. I reckon that your storyboard must resemble a massive spider’s web, which is not only sinister but highly appropriate. As this episode progressed I got a building sense of foreboding which was vindicated in the final half dozen frames, with Connor’s/Connie’s fate seemingly sealed and Jill’s father sailing right into the dragon’s jaws. I can’t help feeling that once those snap shut and Xu has the whole family in his control, that it could well be game over. Except that Jill, Ryan, Emily and a few others, including our indomitable artist and author, may have other thoughts on the matter. Once again, Emory, the art is outstanding, especially the use of shadow and the facial detail, but for me it continues to be primarily about the plot development and your exceptional skill at managing the psychological twists involved at every turn. It’s tremendous stuff. xxx

stacy C

Oh dear :-0.....is Daddy soon to be become Mommy 2 hehe x

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! You've just given me a marvelous image of my own creative process - you should see my office wall. It is indeed teeming with character arcs and plot twists. 😂 The game isn't over yet. We'd need more than a simplistic board with checkered squares for this plot. It’s more like a 3D chess played on multiple boards at the same time. Jill, Xu, Davis, Ryan, Emily... each with their own moves to make, their own gambits to consider. Second Dawn might seem overpowering now, but remember, every sunrise follows the darkest of nights, and these characters, like you’ve so thoughtfully recognized, are nothing if not resilient. They’ve so much fight left in them! Your kind words about the art, the shadows, and the facial detail brought a wide smile to my face. Thank you so much! 💖

You have truly built a great TG STORY here. Not just the simple smut that most of these places have. You take it to the next level! Also I loved the "Snip snip hooray" shirt haha.
