Truth is beautiful, without doubt; but so are lies. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Okay! Episode 16 of Homecoming is 26 pages, and we get to see a lot more of Cindy. I'm in love her attitude - and her hair! 💁🏻‍♀️

As always, I'm very eager for your thoughts on this episode... 💖

Zoe Storm

Ooh, the soup (plot) thickens!

Tiki D

I can't wait see and learn more of Cindy's perspective on Chris/Kris

Tiki D

Im wondering if Detective Larson would be the next victim to be captive in the future.

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tiki! We will see... Quick note: It's actually Detective HARRIS. I got my character names mixed up. Larson is Jack / Jill's last name. 🤪 (I made an edit)

Emory Ahlberg

Next episode is going to be Cindy's "story." 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Zoe! It's basically a stew at this point! 💖

Gemma

You have outdone yourself again Emory with Cindy. She looks amazing. In relation to the story line (so distracted by beautiful art work), I suspect Detective Harris, with his own bias agenda, will believe the ‘story’ Cindy has cobbled has put together. It is going to further add weight to the narrative he wants Chris’s wife to believe and opens the door for him to displacing Chris as Kayla’s fiancé. Cindy certainly appears to be a complex character from brief snippets revealed in this chapter. As bar tender pointed out indirectly and seeming to teasingly invite male attention only to rebuke such advances. It will be interesting to learn about her back story.

Maggie Heels

Huh... I could swear that on the next page after Cindy's words "Fuck, not this again." she will drop a pill into a bottle and she'll give that bottle to detective... you know... forced cover up procedure... the newest investment for "Butterfly Beach" LOL... Am I evil? 😈😇😘🥰❣️

Robertlouis

Butterfly Dawn….or Second Beach. My head hurts. You’re a seriously devious woman, Emory Ahlberg. The art here is sensationally good, by the way. Wow.

Emory Ahlberg

The mouth of a sailor and the body of a… um… not-sailor. (I’m tired 😴)

Alyson Greaves

I spent most of my shower trying to think of something better and failed. So well done! (I am also tired, though from the other end. I hate my alarm.)

Maggie Heels

You two go to bed... NOW and rest well my beautiful masterminds ❣️❣️❣️

Emory Ahlberg

😂 I’m sure Alyson would love to…but she just woke up!

Alyson Greaves

You don’t know how much I want to faceplant into my pillow right now… 😭

Ella Cherry

Hmmmm interesting… as always!

Kirsten Roberts

Amazing, the next episode can’t come soon enough. Was not expecting this turn of events

Holy F**** - I did NOT see it coming that Cindy would throw Kris under the bus like that! (But - a very interesting plot twist that's going to do more messing with Kris' life!) UNLESS: Cindy still feels under threat - or has actually BEEN threatened - so she's acting in self-preservation mode. If she next attempts to contacts Kris to alert her, we'll know Cindy isn't playing straight with the detective, but at incalculable complication to Kris' life. I imagine Ben is going to blab to Kayla that the 'kidnapping' story is BS, which will increase doubt in Kayla's mind, which will ultimately drive Kris away - and into some desperate action? Oh, the delicious twisting and turning of the different plot screws - always to mess with poor Kris!

Elrod W

The next logical step for Detective Asswipe would be to try to find Alan. Say he does, and he gets a story that's different enough to cast doubt on Cindy's story? A few small details differ? Say there's no spa like Cindy claimed? Enough that Cindy's version isn't totally believable, or at least there's serious doubt about it. Of course, Asshat would never tell Kayla that there are some differences, so she'd always believe that poor Chris was delusional. And what about at where Chris was taken? Might there still be old security footage somewhere that shows Cindy approaching Chris? Or Chris being sedated and taken away? Maybe that's still in the police evidence locker, and is part of what Ben said he can't reveal to Kayla. Or something that Ben concealed because he was always very jealous of Chris getting Kayla? The number of possible plot permutations continues to grow, leaving us all wondering what's the next surprise, and whether this can end well for Kris/Chris or not.

Solaufein

Speaking of the detective's name... how did Cindy know his name is Benjamin when he only introduced himself as "Detective Harris"? Is this a mistake or is she just pretending she doesn't know who he is? :D

Emory Ahlberg

Wow! You're good, Solaufein! 🔎 Nope, not a mistake. 😊

stacy C

Grrrr......damn your cliffhangers hehe ;-) x

Elrod W

Imagine this - Ben uses Cindy's story to convince Kayla that Chris has lost his grip on the handlebars of reality. Chris is arguing, even trying to find Cindy for WTF did you betray me for? As Chris is arguing, some orderly - acting on orders Kayla got from a judge, slip up and sedate Chris. He wakes in a sanitorium, being 'treated' for his delusions. He knows they are true memories, but can't convince anyone. Ben wins Kayla. And the doctor 'treating' Chris - has a familiar voice - it's Bella! (Where does reality stop and delusion start?)

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much Gemma! I'm also happy with how Cindy turned out. Despiting being (apparently) let go by Bella and her partner (i.e. "The Cunt) she seems to be continuing her life in femininity. Hm. I love your insights into Detective Harris's motivations. This is a similar theory he proposed to Kayla and now it's being confirmed. Coincidence? 😉 Without giving too much away, I can promise that there's much more to Cindy's backstory that will be explored in the next episode - although it may be difficult to separate fact from fiction!

Emory Ahlberg

LOL! I think you're only a LITTLE evil, Maggie. Nothing to worry about... 😉 Do you think Bejamin would make for an attractive woman?

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Robert! As long as it's a GOOD kind of "head hurt" 😉 I was happy with how the art came out with this one, so thank you! I think Cindy turned out quite lovely.

Emory Ahlberg

What do you think, Ella? Is Cindy telling the truth? A mix of truth? Is she delusional herself?

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Kirsten! 😊 I'm working on Episode 17 right now. Cindy's story is quite something...and quite a bit different than the one Chris told Kayla.

Emory Ahlberg

Wow! As always, Elrod, I'm genuinely impressed by your deep dive into the story! Your reaction to Cindy is precisely the kind of response I was hoping for, hehe. And while it might seem that Cindy is betraying Kris, there's always more than one side to every story. Right? Chris might be an unreliable narrator. Maybe she's telling the truth! Or there could be underlying factors...like her being terrified or compelled to possibly lie. 😉 And yeah... Ben. He's piecing things together in a way that confirms his theories about Chris' transition, and he's very likely to share these insights with Kayla. It'll provide that she should be with him and not with the 'confused' ex-bestie Chris! Your point about the evidence near the hospital is astute. With Chris being kidnapped in such proximity to a hospital, surely there would've been cameras capturing something? 🤔

Emory Ahlberg

🤣 Sorry, Stacy! Luckily you don't need to wait TOO long!

Emory Ahlberg

Ooooh. Now that's an intense scenario you've painted! The concept of reality vs. delusion is one that I find endlessly fascinating. And I love the idea of Ben manipulating Kayla using Cindy's story... In fact, how could he not? And the notion of Chris waking up to Bella's voice is chilling. 😱

Maggie Heels

What can I say... as a Platinum Star member... I am very curious to check it out... 😎🤭

Ella Cherry

To be honest, Cindy was very convincing to me. I easily fell into her trap (if it was one) cause I even started to doubt Chris, but it wouldn't be possible. So, I guess I will go with it being a mix of truth. I’m confused but veeeeeery curious!

sketchyqueen

oooooh now this is an interesting development!! is cindy lying to throw the scent off of kris and the company (likely) or has kris genuinely cracked? both would be interesting albeit tragic outcomes! and wow cindy is gorgeous!! absolutely one of the prettiest characters you’ve designed yet! (next to nikki of course ;) )

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Nina! Cindy was so much fun to design. She's just so different from Chris and Bella, but her own unique brand of gorgeous. And I'm really happy with how she developed over the course of the episode! As for her words...well, it's hard to say if she's a liar or not, isn't it? Maybe she's been forced into a situation where she has no choice but to betray Chris. Or maybe there's more truth in her words than anyone realizes... After all, we know Chris hallucinates. Heck, he had a conversation with "Kris" in the mirror of his bathroom! So, who knows what else he's seeing and hearing? 😉
