Is Cindy a liar? Or is Chris an unreliable narrator?  I really, REALLY enjoyed revisiting Chris' narrative. As you can imagine, Cindy's story will have big repercussions on the rest of the storyline...

And you'll get to vote on them! 😊

I can't wait to hear your thoughts!

2026-09-14 23:00 Awesome chapter Emory! I love how much uncertainty you are adding to the veracity of Chris' story while still setting up moments that suggest Cindy is holding something back or something is off. I can't wait to see how Cindy seeming to short circuit for a moment and the pill she says Al gave Kris pay off!

I actually see a flaw in her story that doesn’t fit to transition. Kris had connections to be able to do this any time if he wanted to with his job and career. So being, or going to this place would not make sense Hopefully Ben or when he conveys the story, they’ll catch onto that Plus in love with him….I think that’s a plot that She does not know the facts of their history and could also kill her “story”…. So we’ll see?? Otherwise, this could be tragic and not the way the story should end….. Also what happened to “the cunt” and the decision.. Will the detective be removed himself???

Tiki D

This was an interesting chapter. It gives a lot interesting revelations about how Kris and Cindy first met. How Kris was having inner conflicts with Chris in her mind and having feelings for someone else besides Kayla more than they realizes. The quote on the caterpillar becoming a Butterfly was fitting for Chris/Kris duelity. I didn't know they had for the Detective Harris since college. Chris/Kris capture must had accelerated their inner feelings for him by bringing out the woman from within the man.

Tiki D

Kris as a Kim Kardashian pinup that would be interesting.

Tiki D

I wonder if Kris and Al will ever hook up again?

Zoe Storm

Yeah, she only wavered the one time.

Bowie897

The detective may need to ask Cindy to repeat her story. I am afraid he was too distracted looking at her beautiful tits while she was talking!

Thomas Tolliver

So were they brainwashed and the pill freed Kris? Or is Cindy just that good of a performance artist? Fuck, I honestly don't know.

Wojtek

Chris loves Kayla, Kayla loves Chris, Kris loves Detective Harris (i doubt this, only Cindy say this), Detective Ben feels something for Kayla, so maybe we have a love triangle? in Episode 10 he suggest that Chris wanted to be a girl. He was best man at her wedding to Chris, and probably envied Chris. Is the pill that (allegedly) Al gave Kris, is it just Cindy who says so, or can someone else confirm it? Al since he was friends with Kris, would he have given her something like that? I don't believe Cindy, who if I remember correctly seems not to have collected enough points for the release. Detective Harris finding Al and questioning him could confirm Cindy's words, provided Al is not in collusion with Cunt or whatever her name is. These are my thoughts, Emory. Bit too much? Maybe🤔😉. But is shows how i love your work😘

Maggie Heels

OMG... quality of your renders keeps ramping up... it looks like there is no limit here... 🥰😍🥰😍And the story... wow Cindy went va-banque with her story... wondering if detective will catch a hook or not... ❣️❣️❣️❣️

Ella Cherry

Oh wow! What a story! Can't wait for more!

Phil G1

a totally an unexpected and fantastic twist in the story!

These last two chapters with Cindy have really thrown me for a loop to such an extent that I don’t know what to think any more. If that was your intention, Emory, you’ve succeeded and then some. I’m not confused necessarily, I feel as if I’ve been brainwashed too. It’s very disconcerting but also highly effective. And I have to say that rather than conjecture further, just for once I’m going to sit back and see where you take us next.

Gemma

Liar, liar pants on fire! Cindy is really nasty to Kris. What is her motive to destroy Kris’s life and chance at happiness. Then at the end adding further fuel to the fire. Why?

ckarya

Well, I still think Cindy is lying to protect herself... and Chris. She mixes everything she imagines the detective knows from what Chris may have told him (if she doesn't really know from Chris' mouth) and turns it into a happy world, where 'they' were always trans and were looking forward to an opportunity like that, a 'free' transition on an island paradise, with a small price to pay, that wasn't such because they wanted it.... But... does that fit with Cindy getting arrested hiring prostitutes? does it fit with the little conversation with the bar owner from last episode...? and most of all, does it fit with the conversation between Chris and The Cunt, through the streets of Chicago and his ultimatum? The only way it would fit would be if Chris, just like the whole kidnapping thing, he had imagined it, that he had hallucinations...... and although Emory is very, very good with her twists and her incredible Machiavellian mind 😈, which I love!!!, I still think Chris and Cindy are in touch and playing their own game. The only thing that threw me off a bit is the whole falling in love thing, we'll see what Emory surprises us with in the next chapters!

Allan Kim

I think she might not trust on the detective, and she might feel she is not safe yet. If the kidnapers sent him to watch her how to react, it is really dangerous to be honest.

This one is really, really hard to comment on. One of the stories is a lie. Cindy is lying, either because of(threats from Bella, or from brainwashing, The alternative is that Chris is delusional or just flat-out lying about everything. It may also be possible that both are telling half-truths because of reasons, and the real story lies somewhere between. I read a couple of comments before I had time to read this chapter, and I really had a hard time making myself read it. There's so much emotion and feeling invested in Kris/Chris up to this point that it'd be rather traumatic to some readers (like me) to find out that Chris is delusional or deliberately lying. Cindy being a liar - well, there are two obvious reasons why, and probably more reasons that Emory can come up with - and that path has more potential to keep Chris as a sympathetic victim. The story is at a critical juncture - a fork in the road, if you will. And as Yogi Berra said, "when you come to a fork in the road, take it." ITo be frank - due to built-up sympathy for Chris, this is going to be hard to read until we know whether Chris or Cindy is telling the truth. There's only so much you can do walking this line of "who's telling the truth and who's lying, and why" before it emotionally burns out the readers.

stacy C

Hold on tight we're about to descend in to another Em inspired rabbit hole of intrigue, mystery and surprises haha x

Elrod W

There's something about this that's really, really bothering me about all the interpersonal relationships. I know the 'preview' said 'husband', and married only 5 months. The 'real' Chapter 1 said 'fiance'. Then a later page had Chris say "you can divorce me ..." So - inconsistency 1 (or a deliberate misleading item by the author? Possible!) Or is this mistake an early hint that Chris is an unreliable narrator, telling some fanciful tale, and in that narrative, Chris/Kris is still getting the story wrong in places due to mental illness or inconsistent memories? Second, Cindy always, always referred to Kris. Never Chris. And it's been strongly shown that there is a Kris side to Chris, a duality. Mental health issues? Possibly, and that could be related to a delusional story. Or not - Cindy barely knew Chris, but knew Kris. Kris was a strong front, which could have easily be interpreted as a willing participant in the change. So - is that a lie by Cindy? Maybe not completely - maybe it's an interpretation of her interactions with Kris, with some truth-stretching (a lot of it!!) out of fear of Bella and the Cunt.

findesiecle

I have run out of words to describe the sublime excellence of your masterpieces! You wordlessly conveyed that Cindy has the temperature in the bar set low...masterful!

TheVampire

There are so many characters in this story that I can't wait to be reunited! Kris and AL, Kris and Cindy, Kris and the detective/ex best friend heck even Kris and Bella. This is a great universe you are building Emory.

sketchyqueen

i mean wow emory! what an interesting concept of deceit! now who’s the real liar?? is kris a little loopy or is this a true force fem thing? my money’s on the true force fem and cindy is an elegant liar. i am interested to see how this effects kris/chris but im about 99% sure old detective boy might need some new suits soon considering kris needs to send a man in 😉 lovely work emory and the art is fantastic! rip computer, she will be missed for her wonderful part in your work

Emory Ahlberg

Cindy's performance was indeed excellent, but it wasn't perfect. She slipped up a few times, revealing knowledge she shouldn't have. And as you've pointed out, the detective seems to have missed these little discrepancies. Is he playing dumb? 🤔

Emory Ahlberg

Thanks so much, Ken! I'm glad you're enjoying the uncertainty and the intrigue. It's definitely a fine balance to maintain, and I'm glad it's working for you! 😊 Cindy's "short circuit" moment is definitely significant... Especially since it happened when she was talking about a very specific event...

Emory Ahlberg

Mmhmm. You bring up some great points, Why would Kris go to this place or be there if he had resources and connections for transitioning elsewhere? Unless, maybe, he was deeply ashamed? The love angle may indeed be a double-edged sword for Cindy. It could help sell her story, but can even Detective Harris believe that his former best friend is in love with him??

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Tiki! I'm really glad you found the chapter interesting. Yeah, the backstory between Kris and Cindy is intriguing. Chris claimed he wasn't able to find her. Do we even know that's true? I’m glad you appreciated the butterfly metaphor!

Emory Ahlberg

😂 I mean, I was distracted while WRITING the scenes, so who can blame him?

Emory Ahlberg

That's the million-dollar question, isn't it, Thomas? Is Kris a victim of brainwashing, or is Cindy just a master manipulator? Or maybe it's something else entirely? All will be revealed in due time, I promise! This isn't like one of those shows where the writers never even know the answer to their own mysteries. 😊

Emory Ahlberg

Wojtek, I love your thoughts! As usual, you've picked up on the various threads of love, envy, and betrayal interwoven through the story. Yeah, your skepticism about the pill and Al's potential involvement is well-founded. After all, we've only heard Cindy's side of the story and her reliability is... questionable at best. Detective Harris finding and interrogating Al would be a huge development. And it should be next! But as you pointed out, if Al is in collusion with Bella, it could further muddy the waters. And NO your thoughts are not too much at all! They're just the kind of in-depth analysis that makes me so happy to read!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Maggie! I'm glad you're enjoying both the visuals and the narrative. I've been putting a lot of effort into improving the quality of the renders, so I'm thrilled to hear that it's noticeable even now! Yeah, Cindy's playing a high-stakes game. Whether Detective Harris will buy into it or not remains to be seen....

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you so much, Ella! I'm looking forward to the next episode as much as you are!

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Phil! I'm glad you enjoyed it. There's plenty more intrigue to come, too!

Emory Ahlberg

Robert, I appreciate your trust in the storytelling process! It's definitely been my intention to stir up some uncertainty and provoke thought. We don't know the whole truth yet - but I promise there IS a truth.

Emory Ahlberg

Gemma, your skepticism towards Cindy is well-placed! Her actions do seem to be causing a great deal of trouble for Kris/Chris. Is she acting out of malice, self-preservation, or something else entirely? And yes, that cliffhanger... I know, I'm terrible. 😄

Emory Ahlberg

Great analysis, ckarya! And... YEP! Your point about Cindy potentially combining what she thinks the detective knows with her own fabrications is a great observation. Indeed, there are quite a few pieces that don't exactly fit together if we take Cindy's tale at face value. As for the love angle, it's one of those curveballs that could either add more credibility to Cindy's story or further expose her deceit. I love your theory about Chris and Cindy being in touch and playing their own game... 😊

Emory Ahlberg

YEP! That's a good point, Allan. We know 'the cunt' is out and about threatening people. So, yes, Cindy's safety could indeed be a motivating factor for her actions and her story. If she feels like she's still being watched or threatened, lying might be her only option to protect herself and others. Including Chris!

Emory Ahlberg

Gosh, Elrod! I continue to be in love with your insightful comments. This is indeed a critical juncture... I totally understand your concern about the potential emotional impact on readers. The goal is certainly not to emotionally burn out anyone, but rather to explore how easily the truth can become distorted. I'm grateful for your patience and trust! Thank you for staying engaged and sharing your thoughts. They're invaluable.

Emory Ahlberg

Haha, you know it, Stacy! Put on your seatbelt, because we're indeed going down the rabbit hole. I'm glad you're ready for the ride!

Emory Ahlberg

Your eye for detail is exceptional! And, yes, Cindy's consistent referral to "Kris" and never "Chris" is...notable observation. Of course, they're both pronounced the same... And guess when the Detective uses "Kris" for the first time? 😉

Emory Ahlberg

Absolutely! For me, the reunion of Al and Chris/Kris promises to be...most interesting. Their dynamic and shared history could lead to key revelations... and maybe even confrontations!

Emory Ahlberg

Aaaaa! Thank you so much, Nina! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, the art, and the mystery. You've nailed the central question: who's the real liar here? Is Kris/Chris delusional, or is Cindy weaving a tale of deception? A tale that Det. Harris may swallow hook, line, and sinker? And yeah, Titus will indeed be missed! He worked so hard to help bring this story to life. But my new computer is VERY FAST! 😊

sketchyqueen

the way i mentally force femmed your computer :(

TheVampire

Can't wait to see, it would be so interesting to see Kris actually be able to speak back to Al. I wonder where that could take there relationship. I feel like Kris has some hidden feelings for Al

Emory Ahlberg

LMAO - Honestly, I was always surprised that Titus was a guy. But that's just how it felt! New computer is definitely a girl, though. She's all-black and sleek, so she's like a badass femme fatale. Plus, she's fast and efficient, so she gets things done on her own terms. Definitely a confident lady! 😉

sketchyqueen

sorry, it’s now canon in my head that you just force femmes Titus into a new girl that’s better hehehe

Emory Ahlberg

Damn, you have great insight. And it's one of the reasons CHRIS is avoiding Al like the plague. 😉

Emory Ahlberg

😂 To be fair, I did transfer literally ALL of Titus' files (i.e. memories) into this sexy new lady body, sooo.... [She still needs a name, though!]

C.J.H.

For what I've read this seems to relate to me of being a double edge sword of two entities at play. I am loved but I can't love in the way that this story follows is the element of self-protection of the other half of you trying to prevent the other half ending both versions of our truer selves for a long time, and I can relate to the Cindy story and Kris/Chris the same time because the past never seems to leave you no matter what you do to change it ! but I can make a difference and eliminate looking back and moving forward in life of what is in my power not of what I don't have in my power.

ckarya

Hi Elrod, I too noticed the inconsistency of husband or fiancé when I started translating early on in the series and told Emory about it. Here is what she replied: "Initially, I did portray Kayla and Chris as a married couple. But as the story progressed, I felt the narrative would be more engaging and hold greater tension if they were just engaged. The prospect of a potential wedding adds another layer of excitement, doesn't it? 😉 I realized that the change might lead to some inconsistencies, so I went back and edited all the pages to rectify this. I apologize for any confusion caused! If you download the updated pages from Mega or even from Patreon for Episode 1, you should find the dialogue altered to reflect this "new reality"."

Emory Ahlberg

Thank you, Cora! Yep, the past is a stubborn ghost, isn't it? It lingers and shapes us, and sometimes holds us back. Homecoming is about a lot of things (mostly hopefully it's just a fun story), but the struggle between two halves of the same person, each trying to protect the other, is a big one!
