The moment Z'rell laid eyes on Karlach striding into Moonrise Towers, she couldn't stop staring at the towering tiefling's muscular body, powerful thighs, and absolutely mouthwatering ass, immediately deciding she had to get her hands on every inch of her. Unfortunately, Karlach wasn't the type to fall for a few sweet words or bend to someone else's desires, so Z'rell realized she'd have to get a little more creative with her methods of persuasion. And in Moonrise Towers, where manipulation and cruelty were second nature, Z'rell had plenty of ways to get her prize...
ANIMATION
Decided to take on a commission and honestly, it ended up teaching me a lot.
I finally figured out how to do overlapping action the right way instead of just offsetting keyframes and making a mess of my dopesheet. Something about breakdowns and overlap finally clicked, and it feels like a part of my brain that's been stuck for years just opened up.
It took a ton of iterations and feedback sessions before I thought this was even watchable, but that's kind of how it goes. You redo the same motion over and over until it looks right. It's way less stiff than my older stuff, and most of Karlach's limbs actually overlap off the base motion now, so it feels a lot more natural.
I also put extra time into giving it a story. I really want all my animations to have one so you can kind of fill in how the characters got here and what's going through their heads. I'm still pretty new to that side of things, but I'll only get better by doing it more.
The downside of making everything have a "theme" or "story" is everything takes longer to release but I think it's worth the wait for a more polished piece though.
What do you guys think?
REAL-LIFE
As a lot of you know, I've had some real-life stuff going on lately that's been pretty distracting, and it's kept me out of Blender more than I'd like.
I've also gotten a bunch of DMs from you guys asking how you can donate. I really do appreciate it, but right now I don't want to ask for donations or accept them. I think every dollar should be earned, since that's the only real way to tell how far you've come as an artist.
If things get hairier I might change my mind. Until then I'm holding on to my integrity for as long as I can.
