Pitch shifting is a common effect for Danny’s production, how does he achieve this?

James Filippides

How do you start a co-writing session? Is there any preparation in advance?

Louis Moorhouse

Someone else asked already about how does a co-writing session work. Similar to that, I wondered how much production is done in those sorts of sessions, and how do you avoid that awkward thing of scrolling through patches, samples etc while the artist is just sat there waiting. Also, one of my favourite songs is a track called “Chosen Family”, by Elton John and Rina Sawayama, produced by Danny. The bass and kick on this track is pretty huge, and I wondered how on Earth he achieved this without it just becoming super muddy. And finally, as a producer, how do you normally tend to get work? Do artists reach out to you on, say, Instagram, or is it mainly labels, managers etc getting in touch via your management? Always wondered about this.

Carl Carlsson

To Danny: What is your strategy for finishing songs and focusing on getting the emotion translate rather than getting stuck tweaking sounds?

Alexander Franke

Danny, I love the 80s club sound of Polari. Could you describe what your creative process is like when exploring and shaping your work around a specific influence or framework? Any advice on how to transcend simply imitating, and creating your own interpretation?
