When you're building a record like A Safe Place To Be Wild from the ground up, how do you protect that sense of play and risk-taking as you shift from raw songwriter to producer and collaborator?

Jon Norman

In one of your lockdown sessions, you talk about bouncing things down early and making decisions about "good enough" and moving forwards with the rest of the song. Is this still the way you work? It's a very freeing way to work and has affected my approach when tracking and mixing.

I started recently writing my own music and while I strongly believe and feel that the seeds and the form of the songs are good, I am not happy with the mix and production and as such my songs stay on my hard drive. What should I do to get out of this? Release songs as they are (as it is the best I can do) or find a mixer/producer to work on together? 🙏

Kia ora/ tansi/ hello, My name is Marek Tyler (nêhiya/ Cree) from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada). Do your parents' Māori and Pākehā roots inform your creative work? If so, how? Through cultural processes or protocols? Kia ora/ mwêstas/ be well Marek

Hey Jordan, great job on all the records so far... When you have a song with strong musical ideas, but the production still doesn't feel as polished or compelling as the records you admire, what are the first things you look to improve? Is it usually sound selection, arrangement, recording, or mixing?

questions are amazing already so feel free to ignore this one. jordan, you already touched on this topic before, but how much pressure do you feel making a living off your music? atm your album got pushed and your promoting style seemed to have changed a bit. Don't get me wrong, I totally get it and I wish you all the success in the world! But for me it is no question that you are an successful artist because your music stands for itself. Can you speak on what is going on there? Is it just the mad times in the industry hitting you and your projekt aswell? much love from goettingen!
