Warwick Vlantis

Could you explain your approach to lyrics - on a spectrum of phonetics as a priority (like Bon Iver) to meaning as a priority (like Taylor Swift)

Ross Gilmartin

Perfect pitch question - what happens in your mind when you identify a pitch as a note. Say you recognise a song is in the key of F, does a big sign appear in your mind that says "F" with big lights round it?

Matt

How do you navigate feeling overwhelmed with so many directions to take a song when songwriting?

Matt

What is your method for organizing songs that you're still working on, and how do you prioritize which songs to return to in order to "finish" them, so that you don't end up with a thousand "song ideas" and no songs?

Matt

Do you implement any artificial constraints when songwriting to help make progress?

Matt

How do you manage self-criticism and use it in a positive way when songwriting?

Matt

Top 3 gear pieces you take when traveling?

Matt

Do you aim to have absolute artistic freedom of expression when songwriting or do you allow commercial viability considerations to inform your songwriting to an extent?

Matt

Have any books informed your songwriting?

Klemen Kotar

Any particular reason for choosing Logic as your DAW? At least I think it is :) Editing is supposedly better elsewhere and you're not exactly in great need of sw instruments. I guess.

Klemen Kotar

Does knowing so much music theory/harmony help you write stuff or do you tend to see it as a spice rack?

Klemen Kotar

Playing many instruments well is not something many can do. Seeing the ease with which you play makes me think of Paul McCartney (and Joey DeFrancesco somehow). What's your approach to practising/playing?

B. C. Slumber

I have always been curious if singers similar to him consciously change their vocal timbre to hit particular notes or if it's just their natural vocal tone. I only ever hear that complete change in vocal timbre from virtuosic, pitch-perfect musicians.

Dionne

What's his experience of listening with perfect pitch - is it bothersome for him to listen to vocals/instruments that aren't perfectly in tune? and how many cents off does it really sound out of tune for him?

Dionne

also does he ever have to tune his own vocals lol

Colin English

I would love to hear Jacob’s experience with the logistical, business, marketing side of the music industry. What has it been like for him as far as working with a label, generating income, social media, streaming, etc? Does he feel like the current music industry landscape inhibits the artist or helps?
