Hello everyone!

With time passing I began to wonder if I should start focusing on improving the renders. I haven't tried much but I have been playing with the light sources and materials on ZB trying to find some kind of improvement.

Here is what I currently run, of course there's the empty background, but for the sake of simplicity I took a screenshot:

Light Option 1:

Light Option 2:

From Light 1 I increase the amount of orange on one of the lights.

Light Option 3:

From Light 2 I reduced the amount of white light and increased the strength of the purple light making one side of the model a bit more purple.

I don't know if it will be final but What is your opinion? Should I invest some time to find a better render or should I stay with the one I'm using or one of the above? I can also decrease all light intensity to make them a bit less shiny.

Best regards,

Ivo

I like light option 3 the most because the details are easier to see

Hi Ivo. I like option 3 the most. If you could add a little bit of light from the bottom so the details are visible under the coat, that would be perfect. In options 1 and 2, there is a lack of details, mainly in the head and torso area. Thank you for the continuous improvement.

Imagine Minis

I think that adding a light under the coat would be hard. Zbrush works only with directional light, meaning that I will create a "flashlight" pointing the object from a specific angle, this will result in shadows when the light hits the object. For this case, it would need a light from below, this would result in a shadow created by the base over the model. I also have to take into consideration that this method would be applied to many miniatures, not to a specific one. I will create more variations from Option 3 and see what it turns out.

Hidebound

I like Light 3. It 'reads' easier to my eye
