It was a peaceful morning on Friday, September 12 2014, as three-year-old William Tyrrell played happily in the backyard of his grandmother’s home in the small New South Wales town of Kendall. One minute, William roared like a tiger, posing for a photo in his favourite Spider-Man costume. Moments later, he vanished, sparking one of the largest missing person searches in Australian history.

Literally! Usually I wait when it’s a two parter but can’t wait with this case

RhysHole

Casefile always gets in on the unsolved cases right before they’re about to be cracked. (golden state killer, Clairemont killer etc.) maybe they’ve got some inside info on this one.

Bob Trenwith

Knowing Casefile, I'll learn something new about this case despite being flooded with it over the years.

SalBee

Oh huge case. Welcome back Casefile.

AR

YAAAAAAAAY

HomerBb5

Welcome back

Casefile

Part 2 is out on Patreon as well now.

Alex May

I remember this and it was all over social media... my cousins went and helped look. It was so heartbreaking... would be rad if y'all were able to chat with Gary Jubelin on this too! I also just jumped out of my seat when I saw this had been uploaded. Welcome back! No doubt Elsha has done a phenomenal amount of research on this case, I dont want to even entertain the amount of garbage that needed to be siphoned thru.

Alex May

I sincerely hope this is true... its a heck of a long time I've been wanting some closure on this case. Since this occurred I have had my own 2 kids and I swear, as a mum, I can't even fathom how one could be so complacent with supervision of such teeny tiny humans... particularly in such a rural area where boundary fences aren't as common... I have neurodiverse kids who run, so the fence thing is just unquestionably a necessity to me...

Bob Trenwith

I hope for episode 333 you have planned a half-devilish case.

Megan

Yay! New episodes! Hope y’all had a great break!

Catmus

Such an interesting case…I believe they’re close to cracking this…

K. Smith

Welcome back!! Missed y'all ❤️

Abby

This case haunts me. I hope it gets solved soon

Bob Trenwith

Hi Casefile - for the sake of your general release you might want to correct 2004 to 2014 at 51:07.

Amanda Perkin

Omg I am blessed this is just amazing tyty casefile xx

Gay Barrie

Welcome back! Glad to have you back!

AR

oh man i'm so glad i don't have to wait a week to listen to part 2 because that's a cliffhanger of a cut-off point!

Hannah

thank goodness! I needed this

madeline

We’re so back

Not being from Australia, I'd never heard of this case before. Going by previous cases elsewhere, I have no doubt that this was the work of a paedophile ring and that some of the 'men' mentioned in these episodes were involved.

Emma Jane Young

Poor baby William. I hope wherever you are you aren’t in pain 💔

Jacqui

Was excited to see this but my heart sank when it started with audio from the emergency call. Appreciate the intention to add authenticity, but the audio quality of these calls is always so poor, I can barely understand what’s being said - such a frustrating start and I can only imagine the added challenge non-Australians trying to decipher our accent. I thought Casefile had listened to feedback and retired this style. The Daniel Morecombe ep (#54) is another amazing episode tarnished by extended garbled audio. Anyway, apologies for the vent - I’m a long-time supporter and appreciate the hard work of Casefile’s team, just thought I’d give this feedback as I think it takes away from their otherwise brilliant scripts and approach to storytelling. Onwards and upwards!

Ira Finn

Well you’re free to vent and speak for yourself but I had no problem understanding 99% of the 911 audio (and I’m not Australia either).

Bob Trenwith

I thought it was very clear.

Mr Chips

The Christmas poem at 01:14:17 made me tear up.. poor baby boy 😢

Cosmic Serpent

Even though your hiatus was rough, this episode made it worth it! So tasteful, professional and expertly done. Bravo. Definitely the best true crime podcast hands down.

Ripley's Jaye

It seems there was no issue with the 911 call for the rest of us....also, most people have zero trouble understanding Australian accents 🙄 You need to remember that you don't speak for the rest of us Casefile listeners, and the Casefile team have no obligation to listen to one dissenting voice.

Sarah X

Wow!! Being an Aussie, I will say I haven’t followed this case very closely as it is mostly all speculation, but was convinced it was most probably the foster mum…. Until hearing the 000 call! Thanks for giving us the facts. I will say i now don’t really have an opinion on what happened to the little darling but think we can all agree he is most likely deceased. Rest in peace William, Australia will never ever forget you.
