On Thursday October 10 2013, passersby noticed a distraught looking teenage girl, crying and shivering outside of Dublin’s General Post Office building. When police officers approached the girl, she either couldn’t, or wouldn’t, talk. The mystery teenager – soon dubbed the GPO girl – was taken into care, and experts suspected that she was a victim of sex trafficking. When attempts to identify the GPO girl failed, Irish investigators went public with the case, not realising they were just dealing with just the tip of the iceberg in a crime spree that spanned continents.

OMG!!! I have wondered if this would ever be an episode!!! Can’t wait to listen

Sasha Jennings

Was about to go to sleep, but I’ve changed my mind now

Eamonn Tully

Irish and never even heard of this one. Gonna be interesting to listen

Parrots Liz

I’m Australian I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this one!! Great episode! Thanks team xx

Bob Trenwith

Eamonn Tully ... Irish? Nah - I don't believe it!

Bob Trenwith

Is humour really that unobvious?

Alan

She is a professional time waster and devourer of goodwill... 😅 Why is there no charge of "excess wasting people's time/resources"? How's that not a crime? Was wondering what the casefile treatment of this case would be... Great work!

Minnie

I'm irish. Never heard of this. Very interesting

Rosie Overell

A wild ride - well told as usual. Her motive? She enjoys it! And she will keep doing it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Jackson

Same here!

AR

about 45 minutes in i was convinced i must be coming to the end of this wild story and then realized the episode still had nearly an hour to go. Absolutely bonkers. This one reminds me VERY much of Andrew Blake / thanfiction / Jordan Wood — both with the zillion identities and the dragging his victims around on urgent emergency road trips and constantly leveling up with new outlandish fabrications.

Pinkdeedle

I think the post office where she was found

Melissa Fogle

Ahhhh. Makes sense! Thank you!! 😊

SalBee

General Post Office

One day a case will discuss a victim getting an email from "what looked like a legit email account" and instead of them believing it must be true, the case will continue "and they didn't believe it but they wanted to find out what happens in the next chapter so they went along with the exiled Swedish princess to see hiw far they'd go." I feel like every few cases there's a suspicious claim then a legit-looking email.

Manuel

Absolutely wild. The motives must be psychological, because it sounds like she could’ve just…I dunno…gotten a job and made more money.

Nik

I laughed when I saw the title of the episode. I've happy to see Samantha getting the attention she deserves outside Ireland.

TheodoraTheExplorer

She tried to pass as so many characters with VERY conspicuous names. Ocean? Dakota Johnson? 😅

Debbi Smith

This is a terrible episode. Much of it is confusing and just awful. You need to do much better. Stop having crimes against kids!

Douglas

What a story. So glad case file is back. I hope you had a nice holiday.

Douglas

She is a good looking woman. It’s very sad. She needs a hospital not jail

Kazza

She’s gonna keep FA until she FOs. All it takes is one parent to snap.

AR

this is a confusing case. The fact it's confusing is not Casefile's fault. They presented it very well, imo.

AR

Sleeping Beauty Hepburn got me

Debbi Smith

And my option is they did not present it well. So GFY.

Suicide Sauce

Oh my god... they found her. It's my girlfriend who goes to a different school. You don't know her, she goes to a different school. But she's real and she let me touch her b utterfly clips...

Amela________

Definitely a great case and easy to follow for me. Unfortunately there are alot of crimes against children, thats just reality

Magz

You are being so rude in these comments. Telling people to fo eff themselve? Maam, get a grip please.

Jackson

Debbi, you are in the minority and your commentary offers nothing constructive whatsoever. Why don’t you cancel your subscription and leave the rest of us to appreciate the carefully curated content that Casefile produces.

Iain Strachan

Disappointing episode IMO. Dull and repetitive.

Gay Barrie

After hearing this story, I’m honestly speechless. It’s crazy! She clearly needs some sort of help. 😳

AR

you said somewhere that you recently almost died and I just want to say that I'm glad you're okay, I would miss your patreon comments

Suicide Sauce

Haha thank you, that means a lot. My return address stickers for my patreon bonuses literally say "oh no not you again" ETA: my near-death experience was due to a car coming across the grass median on the highway directly in front of me, missing me by inches, and kicking up a rock that smashed into my windshield. drive safe everybody!

Suicide Sauce

Go complain to the lady who kept pulling the same trick over and over mate, it ain't Casey's fault

Iain Strachan

Okay. Will do, 'Suicide Sauce'. You know they chose to write and record this, though? Not one of their best. Can't be perfect every time. Again, only my opinion.

Ripley's Jaye

Your own comment saying they "can't be perfect every time", and yet you still felt complaining about it was the way to go. Do you not see your own hypocrisy? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ripley's Jaye

What does her being "a good looking woman" have to do with anything??

Ripley's Jaye

They give warnings at the beginning, for this very reason. You aren't obligated to listen to every episode 🙄

Ripley's Jaye

Not always easy to get tone through comments online....is THAT really "unobvious"?

Douglas

My opinion. Don’t be a snowflake.

Ira Finn

You scrutinize Samantha, alright, you cite relevant experts on her condition, ok sure, but you have nothing to say about the criminal justice systems that repeatedly failed to actually treat or rehabilitate this person in any way?? I become less enamored with this show every time they refuse to take anything remotely resembling a critical lens to a case. Like they couldn’t find even one person, like a victim advocate, mental health professional, anybody- who had something to say about the utter, repeated failure of the system here??

Ira Finn

*gets minor question about a weird comment* “You’re such a snowflake!! How dare you!!” 😭

Hannah

Ppl will come after you here bc they think it’s Reddit and they’re keyboard ningas 😂

Hannah

THANK U!!! At least this one was solved. I’d rather them dive deep into missy beavers for example. The writing and telling is so beyond superb that even if it’s a cold case, their effort and research shows. But these repetitive ones are too much tbh

Anna Teresa

My favorite was Coco Palmer. It felt so familiar and then it hit me when I went for some hand lotion - Palmer’s Cocoa Butter, anyone?

Ripley's Jaye

Well that says a lot about your intellect.

Rosie Overell

I feel like she likes the grandiosity.

Iain Strachan

My intellect is just fine, thanks. All because I dared to criticise the mighty 'Casey'. Do you not agree that some episodes are better than others? Their latest episode is brilliantly written and brilliantly told.

Patrick Gadoury

I hear some of the criticisms below on this episode. I think some are so outraged that this was allowed to continue that they need to hear some of that outrage. I disagree, there are so many episodes where the voice of victims and their families shine through. I think over indulging in that sort of commentary or forcing it into the storytelling that already brings these cases to the forefront can cause nearly unlistenable podcasts. There are a number of true crime podcasts that don't go 10 minutes without the hosts expressing some sort of disgust. It's the worst thing, because it's predictable, doesn't add to the story and after a while is the reason I leave. There are a number of true crime podcasts that over indulge in the commentary of the crime, even without the hosts doing it, and that still drags out the story. When it fits, tells us more, when it doesn't add anything, say less. My Over-Indulged Opinion: Ira Finn is doing her best job of impersonating the GPO Girl.

Patrick Gadoury

says a "reportedly" good looking woman. Agreed though, the statement followed by that's sad makes me think you think that's the saddest part.

Suicide Sauce

THOSE WHO DARE SPEAK ILL OF MY LORD CASEY WILL TASTE MY RIGHTEOUS BLADE

Suicide Sauce

Well your opinion is objectively wrong, "Lain Strachan," if that IS your real name. I and my brother Homicide Hollandaise agree that you're dumb, and there are more of us in House Condiment than there are of you in House Stupid.

Suicide Sauce

My grandmother did not survive the American occupation of Japan for you to misspell Ninja in my presence

Suicide Sauce

When I was a larva if I didn't like a show I didn't watch it. What happened to that? Your time on this earth is finite, please find something that brings you joy.

Suicide Sauce

I'm a big fat person so I'm less a snowflake and more one of those chunks of frozen toilet ice that fall from planes and smash people who say things like "don't be a snowflake"

Iain Strachan

It's not my real name. Capital 'i' not capital 'L'.

AR

I've been listening to this show since almost the beginning, and I have no idea where on earth you get the idea that Casefile has a pattern of refusing to take a critical lens to a case investigation or a piece of the justice system. they have tackled police brutality, wrongful convictions, junk science, unreliable jurists, you name it. in this case I think the obstacles to the case are quite clear and self-evident: there was no "system" that could catch her because she kept moving to completely different countries where the systems were completely different.

AR

yikes! v glad you're okay! it's probably terrible of me that my first thought on reading this was "hey, maybe Todd Kendhammer *did* have an alibi" 😶‍🌫️

Suicide Sauce

My brothers first reaction was "oh my god you almost got Russian Brick Video'd!"

Mr Chips

Some people here are just rage baiting… smh

Cerys B

The background music really stood out in this ep. Nice job Mike :)

Heather Rhode

I want to know where all this money shes spending comes from. Wild. Great ep!
