Early on the morning of Sunday May 10 2009, corporate attorney Rodrigo Rosenberg Marzano left home to take a bike ride around his neighbourhood in Guatemala City. Within minutes, he’d been shot dead. Rodrigo’s friends and family were left reeling by the violent murder, but their shock would only increase when a video emerged one day later of Rodrigo predicting his own murder… and naming the killer...

If you mean "May 10 2009", Australian newspapers have always expressed the date that way when the month is spelled out. (I checked a 1954 Sydney Morning Herald before posting to make sure I was right.) It's only the fully numerical dates that we write in logical order - because they need to be written that way to make any sense (implication intentional). (If you meant something else, then sorry - that was the only date I could see.)

I made this comment before I reached the twist. The comment stands. The fiction of Guatemala will become the reality of the US. It has already begun. And no, this despotism does not have to be related to a particular side of politics - it is simply the side that refuses to put up barriers to infiltration that becomes the target. The criminals have no politics, merely seeking power, and will mould their beliefs to attract the party of their choice. Signor Trumpolini tried the other side first, but got nowhere.

fwiw Guatemala uses DD/MM/YYYY for example, 5/10/09 would be written as “10 de mayo del 2009” or “10 de mayo, 2009” or “10-05-09”
