Perfect "After AFL granny wind down" listening.

Annie G

Perfect timing, just rolled a fat joint 👌🏾 Love you guys!

Suicide Sauce

I hope that you got incredibly high and laughed harder every time the cops found more leaves like I did

Suicide Sauce

I was wondering why Casey kept saying "squirrels" so weirdly and after a google search discovered that there are very few squirrels in Australia. There is a chance he has never seen a squirrel in person. Edit: I hate it when people say "they may have had a mental health issue" about murderers because like, no shit sherlock, normal people don't commit murder. and if somehow you are a normal person all the way up until you're involved in a homicide you sure aren't normal afterwards. Also, last week due to boredom from being stuck in bed all day waiting on surgery I left like 800 comments and while I thoroughly enjoyed terrorizing everyone I've decided to limit my comments from now on so you're all going to have to terrorize yourselves. Just remember that even though you're severely under educated on social issues and your opinions are objectively wrong, I still love you. Except you Bob. I hope your shower drains just a little bit more slowly than you'd like but not enough for you to remember do to anything about it until the next time you're in there, forever.

Bob Trenwith

Yes, I understand you don't react well to being challenged.

Bob Trenwith

As long as Brisbane doesn't win the NRL. I want to see their drought extend to 20 years.

Sorella Studios

The photos of his home are absolutely insane — such a bizarre fetish with the dead leaves 😵‍💫

Vanessa Allen

I have heard about this case before! Looking forward to hearing it done by casefile.

Alanna Baker

A friend who emigrated from Chile to the U.S. told me that “squirrel” was one of the hardest and weirdest worlds to learn.

Paul Sgondea

This guy 100% has schizophrenia and potentially dissociative identity disorder. Not even remotely suggesting that what he did is somehow excused because of that, but this dude was clearly extremely mentally ill. Also, kudos for Sarah for how she rebuild her life. Picture of resilience right there.

Casey saying "squirrels" takes the W

Alex

great episode. so senseless. i hope sarah can find peace. regarding hoffman’s neighbor, why in the hell did she let him drive around & pick up her 14 year old daughter? that’s absolutely insane to me. thank god he didn’t actually hurt her daughter. reckless behavior on mom’s part in my opinion. this wasn’t the 80s this was in the 2000s

Alex

i didn’t even notice! just went back & it sounds pretty normal to me 😭

AR

i think he was affectionately teasing you, Bob, it's okay. lol.

Bob Trenwith

A death wish counts as "affectionate teasing" ... thanks for educating me.

Suicide Sauce

Bob you can't come in here saying things like that I'm trying not to spend all my time commenting in the casefile patreon. I have surgery in four days and I'm trying to rest. I beg you, please do not comment with any more incredibly hilarious things like "they wished death on me via slightly clogged plumbing"

Tessa

That’s just how Australians pronounce squirrels 😭 what was wrong with it??

Bob Trenwith

You stop referring to me out of the blue, attacking people, and being generally boorish, and I will have no reason to comment. Bobbittectomy?

Suicide Sauce

You could wear a bike helmet with sticks and shiny paper taped on, it's worked for other people

Bob Trenwith

As long as you think you know what you are talking about, I guess.

Mikaela Squirchuk

Is that how you pronounce Yaris? If so, I've been mispronouncing it for at least 20 years.

Tessa

As the owner of a Yaris Cross, that is not how I pronounce it hahah

Tessa

I can only imagine the struggle the casefile team went through trying to decide what to name this episode

Sofia

Great episode, but I wish Sarah was listed in the title as a victim of this horrific crime. What she had to live through and live with afterwards is devastating.

Demi V

I did think that was how you pronounced Yaris but then I read the comments and I started to question my sanity 😄

SalBee

Uh oh Bob.... we're halfway there

happy to get an episode that's just straightforward, especially one that's well-told and easy to follow. not that this latest series has been *bad* but it feels like more than a few episodes recently have had some big twist. it can get tiring! in my view, it gets a little narratively repetitive. i know this podcast is difficult to make, and i have a lot of respect for the entire crew! it just makes it hard to get into the episodes because i always expect some huge twist that throws the storyline (for lack of a better term--i don't mean to trivialize the very real crimes being discussed) in a different direction. i personally just don't like seeing those too often because it makes it hard for me to "commit" to an episode. makes it all feel sort of ephemeral/temporary. anyway! good listen.

Jesus Christ, the trauma Sarah experienced is unbelievable. Being transported by your kidnapper in the back of a car while lying on bags containing the dismembered bodies of your mother and brother, before being held captive, starved and sexually assaulted - how does anyone recover from that? Sarah, wherever you are, I so hope you’re okay
