IS CASEY SINGLE?!?!?!

Zoheb Ali

Casefile! So keen to finally be a Patreon of your incredible podcast. As an aspiring criminal lawyer, you guys are absolutely inspiring as to how your write your episodes, boiling down difficult concepts in a fantastically succinct and digestible way. You also inspired me to create my own podcast. So keen to be a part of this. Now, I do have a question for your AMA - how do you guys navigate the legalities of covering these cases? I understand changing the name of witnesses, but do you have a lawyer who navigates the many traps you could fall into like defamation? Also, because Casefile is becoming more and more popular, I’m wondering how the Public Interest comes into play.

Jenny

This is for the anon host: do you listen/watch true crime podcasts and or tv shows. If so which ones are your favorite?

Ben O'Connell

Casey, I’ve always wondered; do you have your own recording booth/equipment , or do you have to hire studio facilities when recording the actual episodes?

Sarah Gallagher

What other podcasts (true crime or not) do you listen to, if any? Also, would you elect not to cover a case because another podcast has recently covered it?

2026-10-18 13:00 Hey guys! I love the fact that you don't rely on sound clips to portray stories to us, instead using your writing skills and suspenseful story telling. What was it that brought you to that decision? Was it a conscious one? Did it have more to do with the style of podcast you wanted or was it more to do with the legalities of using sound bites?

Amber

Wondering if you guys would ever cover some of the lesser known (to us Americans) Australian crimes like the Greenough Family Massacre or the Sharpe family murders.

Jonny Strong

Casey, you mentioned you dig pop punk like blink 182. Ever listen to alkaline trio? Very similarly musicly but alot darker lyrically. They've written songs about topics like the Donner party, HH Holmes and Sadie of the Manson family. Keep up the great podcast. Cheers from Canada.

hobby scott

Hey I want to say that your podcast has had me on the edge waaay better horror movies. My question is have you ever covered the story of The Fritzl case.

Ann McMahon

Hey Casefile, from the Gold Coast. How old is the Anon host and where in Australia do you live? Reckon if i was behind you in a queue I'd recognise that voice.lol

Celine

Hi guys! Have you ever been contacted by a member of the victims' family or even the criminals assuming they can listen to your podcast while incarcerated or even the ones that are out? I LOVE your podcast. Thank you for your hard work.

Wendy Krill

Casey what is the reason you choose to be anonymous? A) Just shy B) don’t want to deal with Internet trolls C) One too many crazy ex-girlfriend’s D) currently one of Australia’s most wanted

Sarah Watson

How do you get all the details? For example I was listening to the one where it was a police shootout in the bush with fire. (Can't remember the number). You said the man laid the victims on the ground and shot them in the back. How do you know that if the victim's and murder both died? Hope that make sense.

hobby scott

Please please when you ever get the chance to do The Fritzl case is a interesting rollover of articulate detail and deceit. I love your podcast love from Kenya

Mark Ofmalovia

I went to school with Denise Brown, one of the Birnie victims. You left a lot of the more torrid details of her encounter out of the podcast. Was this to spare the listeners?

LJ Lindhurst

Please, can you say: "1999" a few times for me? thanks!

Beth Fairbanks

This is for the host. I’ve been listening to you since close to the beginning when it was just you. How do you feel now that your podcast has grown to millions of listeners. Do you feel the pressure and do you ever want to go back to when it was a smaller podcast

Amanda Lewis

Hi Casey. Huge true crime fan and your podcast is by far the best. I look fwd to the email when a new episode is ready every week. I recently got told and read all I could on the case of Alison Botha in South Africa. Has really blown me away and thought it might be a could one for a casefile episode as I know u like to delve into the lesser known cases. Just a suggestion. Keep up the fantastic work 😘

Lucy Dietrich

Hi guys, love the podcast. My question is, have you ever been contacted by any of the victim's family or friends, how does that normally go? are they sad, grateful or mad?

daisy

Have you ever thought about doing an episode about Matthew Hoffman (and the leaavvves)? Will you ever consider doing an episode about that? I've been fascinated for years.

Rebecca Hahner

Maybe I am a bit late asking, but I was wondering if you ever take case suggestions?

Nicole Derbyshire

What do you think could have happened to Theo Hayez after spending so much time researching other crimes?

Nick Turner

Might be too late for this month, but have you considered doing an episode on the Delphi Murders?

Bridgett

I truly have enormous respect for “Casey” and how CASEFILE has grown. My question is...Casey are you the creator of this Podcast or were you approached by others to do the research and/or host?

Bridgett

My next question...have you ever thought of narrating childrens’ books as your voice is so soothing that I have to listen to your episodes twice: 1st time during the day and I fall asleep at night the 2nd time. What would be your favorite children’s book to “host?”

Luke Hurst

Love the show, listen religiously. Do you ever get any feedback from the people in the cases that you present either negative or positive. If so does it affect the way you cover other cases?

Mariya Cassin

Absolutely! My little one fell asleep a few times listening to Casey.

Casefile

Hi Zoheb. Thank you very much and good luck. We are always mindful of potential traps like that and are very careful and measured with how we do things. And if ever we are uncertain - we do ask a lawyer yes.

Casefile

Hi Jenny. I generally don't. I know there's a lot of good ones out there - but given my days are filled with true crime for casefile, I don't usually consume any TV or podcasts related to true crime as it would be too much. But podcasts I have listened too and would recommend are Missing Alissa, The Fall Line and Canadian True Crime.

Casefile

Hi Ben, I do use a recording booth, it's a portable one that I have set up at home.

Casefile

Hi Sarah, Joe Rogan is my favourite, and given the footy season is on (rugby league) a few rugby league podcasts are dominating my rotation. The Matty Johns podcast and 6 tackles with Gus being my favourites there. Hardcore History is another favourite. It's impossible to keep up with the amount of true crime pods out there and what cases they have covered, so no, it wouldn't prevent us from covering it. But if there was a huge podcast covering the one case over multiple episodes - then we'd likely avoid cases like that unless we thought we could add something.

Casefile

Hi Harleigh,Q, yeah that's the style we like to go for - allow our writers to use their skills. Although we arent against clips - we have used them in the past, and will do again in the future - we prefer the majority of each episode to be script based.

Casefile

Hi Amber, quite possibly. Neither is on our upcoming schedule, but possibly may be in the future.

Casefile

Hi Jonny - Sure do, I was actually close to getting an Alkaline Trio tattoo there at one stage!

Casefile

Hi Hobby Scott and Sarah, it's not on our upcoming schedule, but potentially we may cover it in the future.

Casefile

Hi Ann. Aged between 18 and 99. And somewhere in one of the States or Territories ;) No one has recognised me by voice yet...

Casefile

Hi Celine. We do get contacted from time to time. Cant go into any details though. Thank you very much.

Casefile

Hi Wendy, to allow the stories to feature. Best way to do that is to avoid having a peronsality host/hosts taking centre stage and taking away from what is happening.

Casefile

Hi Sarah, we get information from all kinds of sources. Something like that would be determined from crime scene investigators reports after they had conducted their investigation. I think you're referring to case 70 - The Kimberley Killer.

Casefile

Hi Mark. Yes sometimes we don't think certain things are necessary to detail.

Casefile

Hi Beth, thank you. I still have to pinch myself everyday! It only encourages me and the rest of the team to work even harder.

Casefile

Hi Amanda thank you very much. And thanks for the suggestion!

Casefile

Hi Lucy, thank you. We do get contacted from time to time. We are also in contact with some families before episodes are released. No negative experiences so far.

Casefile

Hi Daisy. We havent considered it no. Possibly one for the future.

Casefile

Hi Rebecca, we sure do, you can email them in at submitacase@gmail.com or list them here and Ill note them down.

Casefile

Hi Nicole, Im not familiar with the details of that case.

Casefile

Hi Nick, we sure have. Thats one we could do soon.

Casefile

Hi Bridgett, thank you. I am the one who started yes.

Casefile

Hi Bridgett and Mariya. I haven't though of that no, but would be open to it! No idea on the book! Wouldn't have a preference.

Casefile

Hi Luke, we do yes. We are always careful and mindful of how we present cases though, so we haven't had too many issues.

Rebecca Hahner

Thanks for replying! I was going to suggest the case of Joanna Yeates. It's got a lot of very interesting aspects
