Tom

Is there a case you refuse to do? Not because it's been done before, but because you or your team consider it too graphic.

Grace Rice

Obligatory, I love your podcast and am a huge fan! Have you/your team been following the Claremont serial killer/Bradley Edwards trial that started a couple weeks ago? Also when it is over will you do another update for listeners who may not be following it/are in other countries where it’s not covered extensively by media? :)

Tom

Hi, huge fan. How do you choose a good story for each episode? What do you look for when trying to find the perfect case?

Elle Phelps

Hey Casey and team! Your work is incredible and mesmerising, and inspires me to start creative writing again.

Elle Phelps

do you ever find yourself desensitised to the acts of violence you read and write about - that nothing surprises you anymore or that you’re not as shocked by the crimes as you were when you started Case File?

Jen N.

Would you rather fight a horse-sized duck or a hundred duck-sized horses? And why? P.S. Huge fan. Thanks for being the highlight of my podcast lineup each week.

Haley

How did you get into podcast writing/hosting/producing? What was the passion point that got you here?

Jasmine Anahera

When recording the AMA’s and case update episodes, has anyone ever used your real name and then you guys have had to re-record the answer with “the host” in that spot?

Jasmine Anahera

Casey, where did you find influence for your writing style for Casefile in the beginning, and how was that passed onto the other writers?

Jasmine Anahera

When’s the rugby league podcast coming out? 😉

Jasmine Anahera

How do you go about choosing cases that haven’t gotten much international attention? (Example, if you’re from Australia, how have you known about some of the U.K cases that weren’t shown much on Australian media etc) Does someone else on the team keep an ear out on certain countries or do you have people submit them?

Olivia

Casey what are your holiday plans? Also sorry if this has been asked previously, but do you listen to any other true crime podcasts?

Robert Lacey

Hi Casey and colleagues. Fine work. You guys brought me into the world of podcasts and I have enjoyed watching the podcast grow and grow. My question is to Casey. Are you financially supporting the Roosters? How can they just continue to buy a good team? Best of luck. (Poor doggie supporter). Only comment is that I enjoy hearing ancient history cases. Pre 1950s because i also learn about a different era.

Lyman Green

What made you decide to bring Silent Waves into the “Casefile presents“ umbrella ? Have you got more plans for this kind of thing?

Quinton

Hi folks, I was wondering out of all the unsolved cases you've covered, are there any you believe will be solved in our lifetimes? Whether you have a hunch there will be a deathbed confession, or if in your research you found that the police were closing in on a particular suspect.

RD

Hello Casey And The Group. I Heard From Another Podcast About The Bega Schoolgirl Killer Leslie Camilleri Confessing Of Sorts To The Prue Bird Abduction. Are There Any Plans To Update The Older CaseFile Episodes. Was Also Interested In How The Beaumont Crowdfund Dig Was Going If They Had Started That Or Not. Keep Up The Great Work.

B-randy D

Hi Casey and Casefile team, Are there any cases that you all have decided would never be done by Casefile? If so, can you name some of them. Whether it is because of they are already overexposed in other pods or media, or because they are just too much to undertake, or too hard to tell an accurate story on.

Peter pelisek

Hi guys, I’m a long time fan. In the early days of casefile there was a fair bit of experimentation - voice actors, more audio clips, the host acting... it seems like you found a good recipe for the production that works and that fans love. Does the team ever get the itch to experiment with the form? To try anything new?

Mariya Cassin

There is also a podcast that focuses solely on that case and has almost daily updates from that trial. It was mentioned in the second From The Files episode, by Weat Australian.

Mariya Cassin

A well researched, thoughtful podcast. Thinking of you guys, with the news of the fires/pollution around Sydney.

Grace Rice

Oh I didn’t realise they had mentioned it, I haven’t listened to from the files properly yet! But I’m listening to the Claremont podcast by the West as they come out which is what made me wonder if he is actually listening and keeping updated as well :-) thanks heaps!

Casefile

Hi Tom, No, the main reason we won't do a case is because it has been well covered.

Casefile

Hi Grace, we had Tim Clarke from The West Australian as a guest on our second episode of From the Files. He goes over things in detail leading up to the trial. As for updates on the trial itself , as Mariya said, The West Australian podcast would be the one to check out. We may do another Casefile episode in the future once the trial is complete. Thank you.

Casefile

Hi Tom, a lot goes into it, but one element is that we like to choose a variety of cases that have different and interesting investigative elements. That often means covering cases that weren't solved right away (but not always) to allow us to detail any challenges that occurred throughout.

Casefile

I'd say less things surprise me now then before, but I wouldn't say I'm desensitised. Cases still have an effect.

Casefile

Give me the horse-sized, let's do this thing 1 on 1! (that's the reason - I'll take my chances with 1 as 100 duck sized horses is too much of an unknown!)

Casefile

Hi Haley, this is from a Vice interview. But answers the questions perfectly. I'd just had surgery, which required a lot of lying around doing nothing. I was listening to a lot of podcasts at the time, my favourite being the Joe Rogan Experience. Joe was constantly telling his guests they should start their own podcasts. It wasn't a serious idea at first––I almost laughed at myself for even thinking it––after all, what the hell was I going to start a podcast about? Then not long after that I binged Making a Murderer and came across Serial. I was also inspired by one of my other favourite podcasts, Hardcore History. That made me start to wonder if there was space for a true crime podcast that went deep into research with excellent storytelling like Hardcore History. That's how Casefile began. The only problem I had was that I'm no Dan Carlin. I'm far from an excellent storyteller, but I figured I had nothing to lose.

Casefile

Hi Jasmine. Yes! That has happened a few times. We usually pick up on it as we are recording and just do a quick re record fix.

Casefile

There is nothing I can point to for writing style influence, however I went with that style as that was the whole idea of the show - To have no commentary or opinion or off topic discussions. Just to have the straight facts only.

Casefile

Usually they come from suggestions, from either family or listeners. We also have stumbled across some of the more obscure ones by pure accident whilst researching other cases.

Casefile

Hi Olivia. No holiday plans at this stage other then some rest and relaxation. But not going away anywhere. I am currently listening to a true crime podcast coming out on Casefile Presents....Stay tuned! (Listening to the first draft).

Casefile

Yes I support with my dollars! By identifying and developing great young talent. Manu, Radley, Tupou, Mitchell, Friend, Verills, Liu, Cordner, Aubusson, Butcher and Taukeiaho all made their first grade debut's with the roosters. JWH had only played 6 games at Manly before he came over. That's 12 out of the grand final 17! Something that everyone conveniently overlooks! There will be a pre 1950's case out very soon and there is another one in development!

Casefile

Hi Lyman. It was so powerful and brave. I'd never heard anything like the strength and courage of Raquel and her family. I initially reached out to the producer Georgina Savage to see if she had any other projects she was working on, with the view to possibly bringing those to Casefile Presents - as I could see Silent Waves was already on another network. But it just so happened it was perfect timing, as Silent Waves became a 'free agent' just before I reached out. So when I found out it was available I knew that was the first show I wanted to launch on Casefile Presents. Yes there will be more shows coming to Casefile Presents in 2020 and beyond.

Casefile

Hi Quinton. I hope all of them are! There are none where I could say I have a hunch or think there will be a deathbed confession - but I remain hopeful. I believe there are some we have covered that are certainly solveable in our lifetimes.

Casefile

Hi RD. There are some I'd like to go back and update eventually. Haven't heard anything on the crowd funding for the dig. We will be sure to share the info if we do hear something.

Casefile

Hi Brandy. I always like to say 'never say never'. But it is unlikely we will cover any of the cases that have had lot of coverage. Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronnie Goldman, Sharon Tate, JonBenét Ramsey - cases like that. It's more likely we will pass on those types of cases - but you never know....

Casefile

Hi Peter, not really anymore no. I think we have found what works. Now it is about tightening everything up. Continually trying to improve the research, writing, scoring, narration and audio production. We like to keep working hard at what we do.

Casefile

Thank you Mariya, thankfully none of us reside there! (Even though I support a Sydney based rugby league side).

Nancy Franco

Big fan of this podcast, it makes just about any other podcast hard to listen to. Are you married? Do you have any kids? What do you think of "The Lighthouse" podcast?

Mariya Cassin

Hi, just thought of a potential case for Casefile—the unsolved death of 9 hikers in 1959, Dyatlov Pass, Siberia, Russia. Check it out!

Amber

I second this! That story is bizarre!

A Nobody

There's a similar case from the US known as the Yuba County 5.

Tina Duff

Huge fan and new to Patreon... my question is you advertise the Calm App but for me your voice is great to help me drift off to sleep and I know others have said the same on social media....have you ever thought of doing a similar App to Calm? You voice is very soothing!!!

Casefile

Hi Nancy, I havent listened to that one. Any good?

Casefile

Hi Tina, I haven't really thought about it. But I'd do a read for Calm, or similar, if the opportunity ever presented itself.

Nancy Franco

It's great. You're probably too busy to listen to it, but I think it's phenomenal. It's about the Belgian tourist Theo Hayez and he vanished from an Australian town (I can't remember the name of it)

B-randy D

Would you ever consider telling something like the Beslan school siege or the Cokeville Wyoming school bombing?

Paul T

So do you like Curb Your Enthusiasm? Never heard it explained so seriously. Haha.

Tina Duff

Second question so apologies...as an Irish listener I was wondering are there any plans for any more Irish cases? Elaine O'Hara was brilliantly covered.

Jason Colombo

Probably too late to have answered, but Im thinking of snagging tickets to see MxPx and Teenage Bottlerocket, but on the fence. What should I do? Being punk aficionado, Casey, what’re your thoughts on both bands? Are you familiar with either? Much love to all.

Casefile

Hi Paul, never seen an episode!

Casefile

Hi Tina, nothing in the immediate future, but definitely open to covering more Irish cases.

Casefile

Hi Jason. Yes both bands are two of my favourites! You must buy tickets to this show immediately. If I was anywhere near it I would definitely be going. Not only are they two of my favourite bands, but they both put on fantastic live shows.

Pegi Miskey

Hi Casefile team What are your favorite podcasts? What kind of case would immediately inspire you to put it on your “ to do” list

Casefile

Hi Pegi. Joe Rogan, Hardcore History and a number of football podcasts are my go to (both rugby league and American football pods). Difficult question to answer regarding the case, as there are so many factors that go into case selection. But unsolved ones where we think we might be able to help inform more people about them will always go to the top of our list.

sandra o donoghue

Hello new to Patreon and from Ireland! I really enjoyed your episode on Elaine o hara! Do you have any plans to do another Ireland based episode again? (The vanishing triangle might worth a look) keep up the great work and happy holidays

Casefile

Hello Sandra. Thank you for your support. Nothing in the immediate future but we are definitely open to covering more Irish cases down the track.
