Lyndsey

What has been the all-time most requested case?

Jess Elms

Why such a long break this year

Jennifer Murphy

Hi Casey, just wanted to say that I hope you and your loved ones are safe. Seeing the fire devastation in the media has been gut wrenching and my heart goes out to all the people (and wildlife) in Australia. Is there a specific place you recommend where one could send a donation to help out?

C

How do you keep the podcast quality so high?

Jenny

Greetings from Texas! Non-podcast related question here. Are you by any chance a vegetarian or vegan?

Jason Colombo

Snagged tickets to see Mxpx and Teenage Bottlerocket in Colorado, thank you, so much, for gentle push, don’t know why I questioned it. ❤️ As for a question, are you a fan of The Lawrence Arms? If so, are you excited for the mumbles of a new album in 2020? Thank you for everything you do and the years of doing it. Much love, get those distractions in, too much true crime starts to erode the soul. Just finished “The Darkest Night” after binging “Wicked Beyond Belief” 😔

Connor Z

What do you enjoy most about creating the podcast? Have you ever considered covering the Garissa University College Attack?

C

Just wanted to mention donations for Kangaroo Island (like the KI Wildlife Park.) One-third of the island has burned and some species are in danger of extinction.

Kerry Weinstein

Do you ever need freelance researchers? I’m a librarian and am happy to help with research for future episodes!

Mariya Cassin

Are you one of the staff members who had a baby recently? If so, congrats!

Candice Williams

Miss you and your dulcet voice , cant wait for the next episode. Do you have any favourite snacks that you eat during your narrations...I swear I can sometimes hear the rustle of butter-menthol wrappers in the background

Lulu Rae

How do I submit a story I’ve covered?

Camille Ryan

I’d like to hear more about the journey that got you here... the narrative of how this podcast came to be. It’s a fantastic podcast. The stories behind the stories are often the better ones. Share please!

Casefile

Hi Lyndsey. Belanglo and the Wests.

Casefile

Hi Jess. Yeah it has been the longest break we've had in 4 years. And previous years the time off, hasn't allowed anytime for an actual break. As the prepping and recording of episodes had to start essentially straight away. This few extra weeks gave us the opportunity to actually have some time off which I thought was needed. But we are back at work now and prepping episodes for 2020!

Casefile

Hi Crystal. We are lucky enough to have an incredibly talented team, who are also very hard working. It's the collaborative effort of everyone that allows us to keep the quality high. And we are always striving to improve. We try and make each episode better then the last.

Casefile

Glad to hear it Jason. Yes I love The Lawrence Arms. Have caught them a couple of times down under. Very excited to hear some new tunes. Thank you Jason.

Casefile

Hi Jenny. I am not. But asking for a friend - Do you have any recommendations on vegan eateries to check out around the Dallas and Austin areas?

Casefile

Working with such a talented and hard working team of people is my favourite thing. It's a pleasure to turn up to work on the podcast every day with the team. Which is not something I can say about past employment places! And no we haven't considered that case at this stage.

Casefile

Hi Kerry, for now we are okay. But in the future we may!

Casefile

Hi Mariya, no, but I will pass on your congrats to the team members! Thank you.

Casefile

haha, nope never had those. I will snack on a green apple and drink peppermint tea. As I read somewhere those things can help while recording. But always outside of my recording space.

Casefile

Hi Lulu. How have you covered it? In the past as a reporter? Or you have written about it freelance? Or something else?

Jennifer Murphy

Thank you Casey, and I'm glad to hear that you and yours are all safe, will donate as much as I can, cheers mate

Casefile

Hi Camille. This is taken from an interview I did with Vice a few years ago; I'd just had surgery, which required a lot of lying around doing nothing. I was listening to a lot of podcasts at the time, my favourite being the Joe Rogan Experience. Joe was constantly telling his guests they should start their own podcasts. It wasn't a serious idea at first––I almost laughed at myself for even thinking it––after all, what the hell was I going to start a podcast about? Then not long after that I binged Making a Murderer and came across Serial. I was also inspired by one of my other favourite podcasts, Hardcore History. That made me start to wonder if there was space for a true crime podcast that went deep into research with excellent storytelling like Hardcore History. That's how Casefile began. The only problem I had was that I'm no Dan Carlin. I'm far from an excellent storyteller, but I figured I had nothing to lose. I expected to do only a few episodes, which would help pass the time until I was able to get back to work, then that would be the end of it. But it started to get an audience really quickly. There was no marketing, no push. But that's the beauty of the internet, you can just dive right in and do it. As the show started to grow, I blinked, and suddenly we were suddenly starting to get 200,000 listeners an episode. I'm still completely stunned by it all.

Casefile

- That number is now 2 million for some episodes!

Jenny

My totally unbiased recommendation to you would be meatless Monday! As for your friend’s question... Dallas - Vegan food house and Austin - Vegan nom or Arlo’s. Cheers!

Iain Strachan

What is the most requested case you have yet to cover? Absolutely love the podcast by the way. Been listening almost from the beginning. Still my No.1 by quite a bit! Much love from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Casefile

Hi Iian, the Wests. Thank you very much!

Jess Elms

Thanks for the reply! Cant wait for the next episodes

Lulu Rae

Hi Casey. It’s a freelance long form piece.

Casefile

Probably best to get in touch direct Lulu. Email me at host@casefilepodcast.com

Jamie Sime-Yardley

The wildfires and wildlife flora and fauna in many hearts. People too. No question yet.

Celine

Hi guys! I'm so happy you are all doing well from the devastating fires in Australia. It's so heartbreaking. You lost over half a billion wildlife! And residents and all who are trying to find refuge with their pets. My heart goes out to all of you. Thank you for the link to donate. What I'd like to know is how long does it take to research, produce, create, tape etc...each episodes? After Serial you were my second podcast to listen to and my favorite and still my favorite! Love you guys! Be safe! ❤

Amanda Lewis

Hi Casey & team, happy 2020. Looking forward to another fantastic year of weekly podcasts! Being from Oz, Casey have you been listening to the Claremont podcast as the trial has been progressing? And if so, what are your thoughts so far?

Craig Byrne

Hi Casey & the team, happy new year to you all. Can’t wait to hear some new episodes! Do you listen to many other podcasts yourself like other true crime podcasts? If so, any favorites? Obviously Casefile is the best 🕺🏻

Jane Anderson

I’d love to hear you do a story on the disappearance of Maude Crawford in Arkansas

Casefile

Hi Celine, thank you. There is a lot that goes into each episode and timings always vary, so it's a tough one to answer. But a solid month to put an episode together from start to finish is a rough guide. Of course bigger cases take longer (Belanglo for example was in development on and off for over 1 year), and shorter cases don't take as long.

Casefile

Hi Amanda, thank you and happy new year! I haven't been listening no. I have been reading the newspapers articles though. I'll hold my thoughts about it until there is a verdict.

Casefile

Hi Craig, happy new year. Check out Canadian true crime, Unresolved, Missing Alissa, Criminology and of course listen to Silent Waves if you havent already, which is the first podcast released on our Casefile Presents network.

Mariya Cassin

Tell them that your voice helps a baby go to sleep, Certainly helped mine!

sandra o donoghue

What are the top well known cases you’ve declined to put your own spin on due to be over publicised? Have you ever considered covering Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka I think would make a decent 2/3 parter especially with all the twists & turns in the case.

Casefile

Hi Sandra, most requested would be Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. At this point - I dont think there is anything we would be able to add..... And we have considered that case yes, but not sure if we'll ever cover it.

sandra o donoghue

Thanks for the reply! For those requesting the west there’s a brilliant audiobook on them by Howard sounes. Horrifying yet so thoroughly researched! Happy new year to you all

Amanda Lewis

Hi Casey, I just watched a very interesting doco, which I hadn’t even heard of before until I stumbled across it on ‘crimes that shook Britain’ it was the 1989 Marchioness Disaster. Wow. Maybe something to look at as I know u like to cover lesser unknown cases 😊

Jaz Huntz

Hi Casey, I'm a high school Social Sciences teacher in Canberra and last year I heard my students talk about Casefile which of course made me excited as a long-time fan. It certainly sparked some interesting discussion! I'm really excited to use some Casefile podcasts when I teach research skills this year. In saying that, what were you like as a high school student? I'd love to share your response with my students.

Casefile

Hi Jaz, fairly average! Probably could have applied myself better!

Michael W

Hi Casey, I know you'll never tell but my guess is that you are secretly Adriano Zumbo, to me, you both sound exactly alike.. Anyway, love the series and appreciate all the work you and the crew put into it!

Maddie Cowled

Hi Casey and team! Just wanted to share my appreciation to you all for your ongoing commitment to this podcast. I get so excited when my patreon notification goes off each week 😍. I would love an episode on some notorious Australian drug lords, like Shane Hatfield or Richard Buttrose. Keep up the good work in 2020 and beyond 😊
