Just a reminder, it's not too late to get your questions in.

It’s time for another audio Q&A with the host and a yet to be determined Casefile team member. Send your questions in below, especially if you have any questions for a specific team member, as they may just appear alongside the host for this episode!

Jen N.

Question for everyone on the Casefile team: what are you most looking forward to when COVID-19 restrictions lift? (Forgive me if they’ve already been lifted. I live in Toronto, Canada and I have no Australian friends.) If they have been lifted, how many of you made bread from scratch? And was it any good?

Mark Ofmalovia

Casey I am not familiar with the bands you refer to. I grew through the Australian post punk era in Perth and saw influential bands like the Scientists, Triffids, Victims (who became the Hoodoo Gurus) etc. I still love seeing You Am I and the Hard Ons at every chance. Are you familiar with any of these groups? Mark

Sometimes the way something is written reveals whether a victim survives or not. For example, in the episode about Julie Dart and Stephanie Slater, the beginning of Stephanie's part of the story states that Stephanie said goodbye to her cats in an otherwise empty house. That could only be known if she survives and is able to later say that's what happened. Is this intentional? How do writers decide when to reveal key details in the story, like whether a targeted victim survives or not?

Rebekah

Hey there! So I know your favorite podcast is Joe Rogan, but did you listen to any podcasts before you started Casefile that inspired this podcast or it’s format? I really think your format from day one has been brilliant. And I think I remember you saying you don’t listen to true crime podcasts generally... just wondering what inspired your love for true crime. Thanks

sandra o donoghue

Which case did you find the hardest to cover in connections to information available or the lack of cooperation with the victims friends or families or detectives?

Lyman Green

I’m really looking forward to a follow up to the GSK/EARONS 5 parter. When will we hear one? I know you’ve done updates by I like your team’s take on things, would like to have a full episode with the folloup

Lisa O Connor

What kind of research do you do to reach the frankly immense level of detail in the episodes? I remember hearing before that the writers read court documents etc but just wondering do you read books on the cases also? Especially the lesser known cases it must be difficult to gather so many facts.

Stefan Bradley

What’s your work schedule like? Do you do 9-5? Or do you put in 12 hours most days?

Elin Thorvinger

Who does the process look like from idea to episode? (I'm a new listener and still have not listened to it all, so maybe this has already been addressed).

Elin Thorvinger

Sorry, it should be HOW does the process look....

Casefile

Lyman, Lisa, Stefan and Elin, we had already recorded prior to your questions coming in, however we will answer them on the next Q&A.

Hi! Just a comment on the excellent research of everyone working on your podcast!I was struck by how the flow of information was so well presented on the Murchison Casefile. My thoughts also included the thorough and tenacious investigation of the police during the early 20th century. No smart phones, media, just great one on one investigation, putting the actual work in-so refreshing. My Grandfather was chief of the State Police in a county in NYS during this time.I asked him about his job after he was retired, just general questions like what was most important to him while working. He said- I never sent any man alone to do any job And I never stopped looking for people who were wanted

Thank you Pegi, and thank you for sharing!
