In 1980, an Irish racehorse named Shergar took the industry by storm, becoming a racing champion and national treasure. The Irish public adored Shergar and watching him achieve great success provided a much needed distraction from The Troubles. He became a symbol of hope and possibility in an otherwise bleak and trying time.

The excitement of a new episode and then the heart break when you realise you’ve already listened 😭

Sarah Kickhefer

This one has already been up right? Is a new unheard one coming soon?

Ruth Akers

I came to say this. Any idea if it’s different at all or just the exact same one already released?

Sarah

Again?

John Stoeckel

Yeah I'm way confused right now.

Sarah

Give me the gnarly true crime I need Casefile I believe in y’all

Sarah

I just looked back at their posts and they announced that they deleted the Shergar episode and would upload it at a different date. so that’s what this is. Hope this clears up confusion.

David Rogosaroff

Guys they sent an Email, that this will be released later than expected! So this time has come now, another week to wait haha

Sarah

“As many of you are aware, Case 153: Shergar was recently released early on Patreon. However, due to some last minute changes in our schedule, we have decided to push Shergar back a few weeks and will be releasing Case 153: Anni Hindocha in its place.  Shergar has been taken down for now but will be re-released in our upcoming block. We apologise for any inconvenience but there will now be two early release episodes this week.”

Sarah Kickhefer

Waited all that time for the repeat, not cool

Jason Colombo

Yay! So stoked this is back up! Never had a chance to give it a re-listen ❤️

Casefile

Apologies for the confusion everyone. As Sarah posted above, we made an announcement at the time that this was going to happen. I know it's not ideal, however there were two episodes released in the one week for those that have already listened to Shergar. This episode is exactly the same as the one previously released, no need to relisten.

Casefile

Case 157 will be released next week on Patreon.

Brett_T

Thanks Casey & Team, I was wondering if there was new content. It was a great 👍 episode, but since I just listened to it resently, no need to again at this time. 🙂

Maya George

I really liked this episode and I enjoyed being put in that world, to understand the context of the crime. Also, tbh, I love when Casefile throws in a crime that isn’t violent murder lol

Gavin Murphy

There’s a great song about the horse Shergar you can find on YouTube called Horse Outside by the Rubberbandits worth a watch

Ellie

Is this whole episode about a horse? Or is there a murder

Abhi Ram

No worries Casey and Team. Continue with the amazing work! The guys having a whinge re. repeat content should remember that they got two awesome cases a couple of weeks ago! Look forward to next week 🙂

Bob Trenwith

I got shot down for asking this last time.

Megan

I caught this episode the first time around and I loved it! Definitely enjoy when these types of cases get thrown into the mix!

William Parrent

3 weeks for new material, i think. Maybe 4 weeks. You never know with this one. I don't count whatever that other stuff is as actual quality material. What am I paying for. No thanks.

sandra o donoghue

I listened to this first time round & I loved it. I’m from Ireland & would have an interest in flat racing so i would have known previously of the mystery surrounding Shegars disappearance. I think you guys did a great job cover the case.

Mr Chips

This is an old one!

K. Smith

I really like this episode! Very intriguing and I loved learning the background of Ireland politics and the horse racing world!

Susan C

It states above that there were two episodes released in the same week. Where is the second episode? Thanks!

Casefile

Hi Susan. Shergar was originally released as Case 153. However that was an error. We removed the episode a few days later, however by that time a number of patrons had already listened. We then released Anni Hindocha in it's place that same week. So that was the week two episodes were released. We mentioned at the time that Shergar would be released again, in it's correct spot, and this is the week for that. We understand this is disappointing for people who have already listened to the episode. We will be back with case 157 next week.

Casefile

Hi William. Sorry to hear that. Send us a message and we can reimburse your pledges for you. Thank you.

Casefile

Thank you Abhi, much appreciated.

Casefile

Thank you Maya, much appreciated.

Casefile

Hi Ruth, it's not different. It's the same.

Jenny Erickson

I want to listen to it but I don't think I can do animal stuff! Being said I love casefile and Casey does such an amazing job that I might give it a shot.

Georgina

Thank you, Case File. Always grateful XO

Telma M

This was an excellent episode. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love it when you cover non-traditional cases, like the shipwreck a few months ago. The first ever case I listened to was the Mark & John case, where no one died, but it was so convoluted I was absolutely riveted the entire time. Thank you for being so original, fantastically researched, and well written & performed.

Kath Tee

I got the memo. 😄

Casefile

Thank you Telma. Much appreciated.

Tearyawna

I agree with Telma. I’ve been appreciating the non-traditional cases as well. It’s a nice change up from the usual homicide cases and as an American, it was interesting to get some history about the IRA and the conflict in Ireland. Great job again team Casefile!
