Boom!

Bob Trenwith

An error at the 21 minute mark: You said Millhouse was arrested in January 1979 for a murder that was committed in August 1979.

Bob Trenwith

So von Einem lived in Paradise? Could he possibly be the Zodiac Killer? I can't find any information about his life before 1972 - could he have live in the US?

Rebekah

Well I learned that I have been saying Adidas wrong! Thanks! And great episode!! I want to read that book now.

Amber

This case is so sad. I remember seeing it on Crime Investigation Australia. Excellent job, as always, Casefile team.

Rosie Overell

Great ep - definitely more to this case than just one man

AR

Me, having listened to too much Casefile: *I* could have told you that car was a Holden 😂 it's ALWAYS a Holden 😂

RhysHole

I was sure this case had been done before. Must be thinking of another podcast.

Hamish Freeman

Paradise is a suburb of Adelaide, Australia

Hamish Freeman

This one is pretty close to home. The perpetrator's brother was one of my school teachers.

Kate King

Can’t believe I had never heard of these cases! Do you reckon the GP was still involved? The laparotomy to remove the bottle and then to suture it back up 🤷🏼‍♀️ and the prison doctors prescribing erectile dysfunction medication wow Wow wow!

Michelle Gray

Great episode. Love when you do Australian cases.

Bob Trenwith

Yes, thanks for that - I did listen to the podcast. I asked COULD he have lived in the USA, meaning in the late 60s. Bryan Hartnell did say the Zodiac had an odd intonation - perhaps an accent.

Michelle Gray

Bob, it is unlikely that von Einem lived in the USA in the 1960’s. He is still considered a suspect in the 1966 disappearance of the Beaumont children and other missing and murdered people in South Australia. I think his whereabouts has been well investigated by police and think that this information would be documented should he have immigrated to the USA. Not impossible though.

Bob Trenwith

Assuming he is responsible for the Beaumont disappearance, that still leaves a gap between January 1966 and 1972, which fits perfectly with the Zodiac killings. But I agree, it is only a slim possibility - merely a thought worth considering given the Zodiac's reference to "Paradice" in his letters to the media and police.

Bob Trenwith

I reckon the pronunciation of Adidas has changed backwards and forwards at least three times in my life.

Maya George

Why did I think this was going to be about a cult?? It was such a good episode but full on. I’d never heard of this case before!

Casefile

Thank you Bob, we have now fixed that up. Much appreciated.

Jessie

Did the same thing! It was not about Manson and I was surprised but loved it.

So Real

I know there was an extra disclaimer at the beginning of this ep, but holy sh*t. The mutilation is horrific. My heart breaks for the victims and their loved ones.

Chantelle

Was thinking that exactly!!

Chantelle

Why do these killers always drive Holdens??

Captain Flint

You might be thinking of the documentary "The Family" - I think it's about an Australian cult IIRC

So Real

Question... are the graphic details discussed throughout the ep? I got through 20 min or so, but had to stop. And hate myself for it. Episodes like this make me feel guilty for loving true crime, but having the option to hit pause from my own comfortable safety, when the victims and their families obviously did not. (Prob doesn’t make sense. Sorry.)

Casefile

Hi So Real, yes there are graphic details throughout the duration of the episode.

Maya George

Yes! That’s it! The Australian Family cult. Thanks Captain 👨‍✈️

Roxanne

I think it's about time that the names of those surpressed under order be revealed, do these young men not deserve for all the people involved in the family be brought to justice for what they did. Yes they may be high profile members of the public here in south Australia, but it's been 40 plus years time to name these people now

Jamie Yardley

Dear God! Like GSK casefile has exposed the unsolved . Dna?

Storme

Such awful crimes, it’s infuriating nAmes are suppressed.

Mine du Plessis

Von Einem will never name his accomplices, which is so gross and infuriating. His photo scares me, and to be honest, i think he did more than what he was ever accused of.
