For the time being, no one was moving and no further shots were fired. The Corporal was momentarily relieved. His fellow soldiers were positioned a little further back, safely obscured by grass and shrubs. All of a sudden, he heard a voice behind him say: “Stănescu.”

Wow, awesome revenge story brilliantly told 🧡

David Rogosaroff

I was afraid there would be no episode today😅

Caroline O'Dea

Very very good!!! Thank you for sharing this story.

Bob Trenwith

If he had only killed Stănescu he would be a hero. For murdering his innocent son he is a criminal and should have been treated as such.

Lin Cott

We can only imagine, thankfully, what the Jewish people & others, went through at this terrible time. Who are we to judge this man’s actions? I’m glad that he was able to avenge his family. Hope he rests in peace with his beloved family .

emily

What an incredible story. I was so happy to hear he was able to find find comfort and trust as his was so horrifically stolen from him. Thank you for sharing.

Kim L.

Wow, this was one of my favorites. What an amazing/insane story. I can't believe there isn't a movie on it yet!

Carolyn Barry

This one will really stick with me - thanks Casefile. This reminds me a bit of Shergar. I love the historic cases you cover which require some retelling of a time as well as the case itself.

Alexandra Peshcherenko

Best 32:45 of the week. Going through depressive patch. Thank you casefile team for being here! ❤️❤️❤️

Maya George

This was such an enthralling case. I understand he murdered people, but knowing the why makes me think about his outcomes in different ways. Thank you for this case. It’s one of your best and will stay with me for a long time :)

Melskiwana

Epic story. And so well told, as usual. Thanks Casefile 🙏

I’m not sure we have enough info from the story to make any judgments about that. Not arguing he was right in his actions just saying: we don’t know.

Tamika Parker

Wow. What an amazing story! Well done cssefile team. You had me hooked on every word 👏

Rissi Watson

that’s an insane revenge story! the ending gave me goosebumps

Amber

What a badass story. Casefile you really outdid yourself with this one. Any Decemberists fans out there thinking this is The Mariner's Revenge, but in the jungle.

Jess Chiller

Incredible storytelling, such a (dare I say) satisfying ending to it too. Thanks so much Casefile Team for another amazing narrative.

Paul T

Best “mini” episode so far!

Demi

I love it, thanks Casefile. Stănescu should have been brought to the Hague but the fact he made it to another war proved he was never going to see justice. And the fact Eli risked his life repeatedly by entering some of the most dangerous war fields of the time (even just traveling to war could kill you!) and held it in until he was alone AND brought back his body... Yeah, I'd say time served is a good punishment. I might also have given him a medal.

Five years is a long time in prison. Especially in the conditions of the 1940’s! Our imagination is skewed by how normal it is to hear of 10, 20, 50 year sentences.

Tanya Jo

I love a good revenge story. Especially a case like this. Good on Itzkovitz

Probably an unpopular opinion but I give less than a crap about his son even, in light of the Holocaust & how many Nazis got away with slaughter. Sorry not sorry.
