During the 1960s, California saw a wave of senseless, unsolved slayings. Cab driver Ray Davis was murdered in cold blood after an anonymous killer warned of his intentions. Two young couples – Robert Domingos and Linda Edwards, and Johnny and Joyce Swindle – were gunned down in separate yet similar attacks. Popular college student Cheri Jo Bates was killed after leaving a campus library late at night. Each attack was different, yet there were common threads throughout. Were they the work of multiple culprits – or one of the most notorious serial killers in US history, the Zodiac?

Omg yes! Can’t wait!!

Tamika Parker

👐👐👐👐 what a way to start the year!

Erica Colliss

Fantastic. Can’t wait to listen

Carla Obee

Yippee! So glad you’re back! 🎉

Christie Ord

Awesome! Started listening straight away. Is it just me or is Casey's narration different to normal? I think his inflection seems different and more conversational

Bob Trenwith

Is it usual to put the name of the perpetrator in the title? I know it's a pseudonym, but ....

Nicola Carroll

Yesssssssssss! Excited, but I’ll have to wait four weeks as I binge listen to the multi parters 😊

Sean James

I want to report a thumbs up 👍....no....a double thumbs up 👍👍

Casefile

We change it sometimes for the multi-parters.

Bob Trenwith

In the second case, how do you know that the girl was ordered to tie up her boyfriend? There were no survivors and no witnesses. I hope you're not just assuming it must have been identical to the Lake Berryessa case.

K. Smith

🥳 Y'all made my Saturday!!! 🥳

Cathy

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Mandy G

Okay, Casefile! Coming in 🔥 for 2022! 🙌

David Knight

Is casefile premium on Apple podcasts the same as Patreon?

pain

If you look up the couple’s case, it’s told various times that investigators deduced that the killer ordered Linda to tie up her husband. Whatever they saw at the crime scene seemed to have produced this deduction on their part.

Casefile

It's similar, but some of the old bonus content is missing there as we just set it up.

Tara Z

🥳🥳🥳 ohhhhh I can’t wait!!!! Way to start the year off with a serious BANG!!!

Mr Chips

The Zodiac, really? I thought you all were trying to cover lesser known crimes.

CSJ

Absolutely frothing 🤤

Sasha Jennings

it's just for the dates, from what i can tell. i think it might be a stylistic choice

Mikhail Komarov

One hour of wild speculation by amateur "historians" and internet sleuths. Connected by the most popular ammo? Taunting the police and media? Still good stories but hardly The Zodiac

Bob Trenwith

Where have they ever stated that goal?

Bob Trenwith

After spending a couple of hours looking this up, I am not convinced. All mention of this possibility is in articles that try to connect this case with the Zodiac. There is no mention of it in the few newspaper articles of the day I can find. I'm convinced that someone has tried to forge connections between the Zodiac and old cases, and been very loose with their "facts" in doing so.. If that "fact" hadn't been mentioned, there would have been nothing to suggest a connection.

Mr Chips

They mentioned this in one of their older AMA’s.

Annie G

I'm disappointed, too. Zodiac is one of the most heavily covered and researched killers on the planet. It's a bit underwhelming imo.

Casefile

Yes, it's a sound effect just on the dates and locations.

Nicci Foster

Must be awesome to spend countless hours providing content for people to listen to, to then get feedback like here. I'm really keen to hear Casefile's take on this very complex case.

Hannah Binkley

The first episode makes it clear they’re going beyond Arthur Leigh Allen. It might be a “popular” case, but few other podcasts or documentaries are as thorough as Casefile.

sara ferry

WELCOME BACK!! (Excellent choice too)

Zana

I have waited SO LONG for casefile to come back and I was hoping for something so much better :( But you can't be perfect all the time. You are still my favourite truecrimepodcast. Just please don't change the voices and sound effects of the narration. Casefile is PERFECT exactly how it has been. Greetings from Sweden.

Kim LS

So good! Thank you casefile team 😇

Maya George

People are out here complaining about the Zodiac being a well known case, meanwhile I don’t know the story 🤷‍♀️😂 I’m keen for the 4 parter, Casefile 🥰

Kim LS

Even though it is a well known case, the way that casefile researches and presents the story makes it very worthwhile to listen to. I am already enjoying it.

Stefan Bradley

Only thing I know about this case is they were never caught and they left coded messages. But even if you watched all 1000+ docos on this surely a 4 part Casefile deep dive will teach you something you don’t know? I’m so pumped for this series!!

Jacqueline

I didn’t even know that Stefan! Ack spoilers!

Bob Trenwith

I skip over any episodes connected to the occult, and that horse racing one. I have to say, I believe Casefile's choice of cases started well, then became ordinary, but have been great again over the past year or so.

Bob Trenwith

Yes and no. I don't like that they began with the conjecture. That should come at the end. But next week should be the real Zodiac cases.

Stefan Bradley

Well even that I don’t actually know I could be wrong lollll nearly all of this is new

Isobel Wilson

Yay I’m so excited!! Missed casefile

Madeliene Ceballos

it’s super weird to hear Riverside City College on Casefile considering I go there lol. Kind of creepy to hear street names and places that are super familiar to you.

Jayson green

Hey Casefile! Love the new way you're narrating the dates now, I ALWAYS miss the dates when I'm listening to podcasts in the background but this change in sound reminds me to listen in and take notice of the dates and time. It really really helps me follow along the story better! Thank you for another amazing episode and I'm pumped as for the next three!!!

Jayson green

Also, welcome back, and I hope you had a great holiday break!

Casefile

Thanks, Jayson, this change is for Zodiac only, but we will keep it in mind if people enjoy these little sound effects from time to time.

Abby Moret

Not sure I like the new date style? Great case though

Demi V

Thanks, Casefile! Despite the popularity of Zodiac, I've never been able to get into it. Too many fan theories to weed through to get to the case. Glad you're doing it because I feel I might have a chance to understand it!

Rebekah

It’s definitely different but I like it. Maybe add the same starting sound or soundtrack during the change would help separate it

Sean Boulden

I'm really liking that you're including the NEW evidence that has just came to light not so long ago and how that the Zodiac's identity just really may be known.

Alison

Funding it hard to follow all the skipping around but hoping you will unmask Zodiac!

Saraneth

I’m listening to this home alone and it’s giving me chills and I’ve had to check that my doors are locked twice. This is on level with EARS/ON and Balengalo. Casefile’s approach is always excellent. I have not liked a lot of the zodiac reporting in the past and the way you are presenting the story is incredibly different. I’m always so impressed with the music, the editing, the narration and the excellent research and writing. Good work guys! Congrats on episode 200!

Christine Allen

I am enjoying this one very much. Casefile’s take is so interesting. Congratulations on episode 200!

Lo

I'm really happy you guys are back, but I hope you're okay with some feedback regarding this episode. To be honest, I'm a little uncomfortable with how speculation is being presented as fact, both regarding emotions/motivations/final words (in general: things that no one could possibly know) and the actual crimes being Zodiac. I understand why this was done without a disclaimer from a narrative point of view, but it is not what I've come to expect from this podcast.

Lo

This is so inappropriate tbh

CSJ

Thanks for your input Lauren, if you familiarise yourself with the colloquial use of frothing, hopefully you can understand where I’m coming from

Raymond Danford

I must have missed it. Can you be more specific?

Raymond Danford

If you are referring to the conversation/last words of Bates, and/or the thoughts going through the killer's mind those were supplied by the killer himself in one of his letters to police/newspapers.

Rachelle Good-Neilsen

I actually kind of have to agree, big love to casefile but sometimes I find myself rolling my eyes because of things that sound like assumptions, for example “the couple were at the lake reminiscing of times passed” well, unfortunately you don’t know what they were talking about because they are deceased. I mean it sets the scene but it’s not factual as it is presented at times.
