Hello Patreon, the team is getting ready to record another episode of Behind The Files. The cases that will be covered this episode are, Case 245 Sherri Papini, Case 246 Gregory Villemin and Case 247 Nina Puganova, Irinia Trasyn and Anastasia Mikhailova. Also, a reminder that we are now combining the regular Q&A with the Behind The Files episode, so if you have any general questions you can ask those as well. Submit your questions in the comments. Thank you.

Can we still submit cases for potential episodes?

Who does the casefile team think is responsible for the death of Gregory Villemin?

Kayla

Greetings from California! I’ve been listening to your podcast since 2016– I remember vividly since the Katherine Knight episode was the first one I listened to. I’ve got a couple questions: In the past, you’ve said that you have kindly and respectfully contacted families of victims prior to writing an episode. I’m curious to know what this process is like and if you do it for every relatively modern case. In addition, have families ever reached out to you after an episode airs or do families of other cases you have not covered reach out to you? My question to Casey: I’m sorry if this has already been asked/answered. Has your voice ever been recognized outside of Aus? I’ve had arguments with my SO, I totally believe I’d recognize your voice but he doesn’t think so. Love you all, thanks for all you do! -Kayla

Hey team, I have a few questions: What happened with the podcast series on Niamh (memory has failed me, but I hope you can decipher the series I'm referring to) has that already been released? Have you considered doing audiobook recordings Casey, because I think it could be quite lucrative for you?

Linde

Hey there! How are you guys? I have a few questions Why do you think that Sherri faked the whole thing? And how do you think she got away with it for that long? Who do you think the crow is? And a music question for Casey: where do you recommend people to start if they have no prior experience with the punk scene. Any good bands or songs you recommend to start with?

Flem Candango

Last Q&A there was a lot of talk about involvement in the local punk community, and the size of the Casefile team, which got me thinking about the early days of the podcast and how the current team would seem huge compared to then. Do you think you could talk about about the punk DIY ideology, and how it influences Casefile?

Can we submit potential episodes? I'm from South Africa...please look up Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu and Thabo Bester cases. Those are bizarre and wild!!!

Hi everyone. I’ve a question regarding sources for the writers. How do you determine which sources of information are reliable and can be used/quoted for your writing purposes? Do you have your own checklist or guidelines for example? I’m thinking particularly for cases in countries you may not be too familiar with - how you know whether to trust certain books, websites, newspapers or even people? Thanks!

Are you aware of any follow-up interviews with Okasana after Skrynnik admitted to his crimes? I'm curious what her reaction to the fact she thought "Uncle Sasha" was a good man when he probably intended to kill her was.

Casey and team, are you watching and/or enjoying the Ashes? Who do you think is going to win, England or Australia?

K. Smith

General question: Do y'all continue to follow unsolved cases that you've covered in the past? I've always been haunted by The Beaumont Children who went to the beach and never returned. I wonder if there was any resolution there and, generally, how/if y'all keep tracked of similar unsolved cases you previously covered? Thank you to the whole team - kelley

Has there ever been a case that’s been to disturbing for you to cover? Considering some of the cases that have been covered so far, I doubt it

DaveC

The Grégory Villemin Case is a tough one for podcast format just on the number of characters alone - but you did an excellent job researching the case. Grégory wasn't just a victim of someone in the Villemin family, but the entire rot of career-minded judicial investigators, scapegoating and toxic media in France at the time. My question for you is - what are your opinions on the killer vs. The Crow. Do you believe Bernard Laroche committed the murder? Do you believe The Crow faced any justice in this crime? I don't believe there is a crow, rather a Murder.. (The entire extended family were The Crow, at least thats what my inner keyboard detective tells me.)

Mr Chips

Do you still get “written drafts” submitted by listeneners for potential cases? Is there a certain etiquette expected if someone is interested in writing for your show?

Mr Chips

Would you ever consider adding a second narrator to your show? I love Casey’s voice but also worry that he doesn’t get a break. I know Vikki Petraitis is a busy woman but her voice is so haunting and beautiful. I go into a meditative trance each time I hear her narrate anything. Can we get her for a special Q&A to discuss the Frankston series?

Mr Chips

I feel like a family tree could’ve been very helpful as additional content to the episode! Haha

I just sent an email to Milly with my pitch and the start of an EP. I haven't actually finished my draft, though, I got busy and then my actual job gave me a true crime beat so I'm a bit torn about finishing. She said people frequently don't finish their submissions! Which, oops 😭
