Hey guys! Here's this month's ramble, talking about my birthday and Megamind (best superhero movie in existence), things I've been up to, a book I'm reading, and the urge to get a dog (I have puppy fever). Let me know how you've been!

Can't recommend Goldens enough! My first pet growing up was a Golden, and she was the sweetest girl. I will say that they love to dig holes, so it might be a good idea to put in a fence around your garden if you haven't already 👍

A Cat would be nice to have Glow cause they’re low maintenance and chill. But if you want a Dog, I highly recommend a Golden Retriever (Like Wes 🤭). Also, thanks for recommending “Better Than The Movies” glow. It was so GREEAT AAHH I CANT 😭. Not bad for my first book. Do you recommend the sequel book for it? I’m planning on getting it this week.

I love nature too! It has such a soothing, serene quality to it. My happy place is at 5am in the mountains just before dawn next to a still lake after it has rained the previous day and the smell is still there with birdsong in the distance and a cool, gentle breeze on my face and the touch of soft, wet grass beneath my feet. MMM. That’s the closest thing to heaven on earth right there. Like you, I do also have a pollen allergy, though it was way worse when I was a kid. If meds don’t work, a mask usually does. I really respect the lengths you go to do your work well and excellently that you’re willing to return five different microphones in order to get the exact quality and sound that you want. Most people would settle for something that’s “good enough,” but not you. You’re about excellence, and I deeply admire that. As for me, things have been deeply challenging, especially financially, but I SURVIVED. I survived because the fire inside burned brighter than the fire around me!! 🔥 So life is good in spite of it all, and I have very much to be thankful for. I moved yesterday and will again in 3 weeks to be back with my family, then possibly with my grandparents in Japan after that. If it works out, it’ll be very good and a whole new act in my life. Oh and like you, I’ve been reading epic fantasy, namely the Chronicles of Narnia. My younger brother loves it, and I read the first like… six chapters all in one sitting. I just HAD to know what happens next! It flows really well and it doesn’t get too much into pure fantasy. It has what I would consider a healthy dose of it while still being grounded in reality (at least, so far in the first book). It can be exciting to start something new, but the question is, will you follow through and finish what you started after the excitement wears off? Knowing you, Glow, I can predict that you most definitely will. :)

April is usually the hardest month for me personally and this year wasn’t much different. But I did get to see some family members while I was out of town so that helped. I’m glad your month was great Glow.

Dog advice: Most people get a dog not thinking about the amount of time they need to dedicate. A dog needs a purpose. Mine are guard dogs so they are happy patrolling the yard. Most dogs need a good amount of walking and more than once a day. Research breeds and see which one fits your lifestyle. I like my Black Russian Terriers cause they're very protective of my family. But they're wary of strangers so when extended family visit I have to supervise them

Heavy world building is a double edged sword, IMO. If done right it can really transport the reader, but it's also easy to get the mix wrong so it's just a bunch of meaningless vocabulary or it becomes a dry history lesson for a fictional world. Or the author spends so much time on the world they don't have any energy for the story or characters. But when the mix is right, it activates my hyperfixation like nothing else. Two of my favorite examples are the Rook and Rose series and the Daidoji Shin mysteries (first books being Mask of Mirrors and Poison River, respectively). I've also found that audio books help a lot, as the narrator will just say the names and as an auditory learner it's much easier for me that way. April has had it's ups and downs, but the new anime Lazarus launched, and getting the director of Cowboy Bebop to be allowed to make another one with Adult Swim has been even better than I hoped. Waiting for the new episode each week is a special kind of torture. Do you watch much anime? I feel like you might really like Spy x Family and DanDaDan. Enough rambling from me, happy belated!!
