Many users may desire to run unsigned drivers, including NVIDIA drivers released after Microsoft ceased WHQL signing for Windows 7 and 8.x, or modify their kernel to incorporate a custom boot screen. But with few exceptions, they have to boot in "test signing" mode (which places watermarks on the desktop and causes issues with various anti-cheats) or enable "disable driver signature enforcement" from the F8 menu each time they want to boot. Here is a new solution to the problem that doesn't require extra booting steps: the Code Integrity Patcher. This replaces my original "winload_ci_patcher" that worked only on most iterations of Windows Vista. It has been tested against Windows Vista SP2 (2019 and 2025/26 update levels), Windows 7 SP1 (2022 update level), Windows 8.1 (Update 1 and 2021 update levels), Windows 10 1809 and Windows 11 23H2.Instructions for Usage: extract the ZIP archive and run CodeIntegrityPatch.cmd. A UAC prompt will appear if enabled; follow the instructions in the command prompt window that will then appear.Warning: Secure Boot must be disabled before running the patcher. If not, you will only be able to boot into the system in Safe Mode or with driver signature enforcement disabled. From there, the patch can be reverted by renaming ci.dll, winload.exe, winload.efi in the target system's System32 directory to ci.new, winload.new and winload.new respectively, and then renaming ci.dll.bak, winload.exe.bak and winload.efi.bak to ci.dll, winload.exe and winload.efi respectively.UPDATED at 1524 (UTC-4) on 2025-03-12 to confirm and add Windows 8.0 support.Updated again at 0235 (UTC-4) on 2026-10-14 to add Windows 10 1507 target, which is different from everything before and after it.
