I mean we all know this was going to happen, but it's good to see more of the details. She isn't going into this blindly.

But yes, it was always US Dollars. I just wasn't able to fit those lines on the last page. lol. Would you do this on vacation?

If you did this on a vacation, wouldn’t that make it not feel like a vacation anymore?

Given what she's trading, as far as Stephanie's concerned, she'd be as Korean as any other native-born Korean woman; the mind would match her body.

You complicated to say if you really got to discover new things. The expeirence would be new, but the knowledge wouldn't. It's real fuzzy. There are absolutely travelers who want to feel like a local and blend in. But I think most want everything to feel different and be seen as a tourist.

And given America's oversized societial footprint, it probably wouldn't be too detrimental to her existing life. Maybe.

From a personal perspective, I know it would feel weird to go somewhere new and NOT experience that sense of wonder at seeing it for the first time. Like if I’d gone to Paris last year and swapped experiences with a local, I probably would’ve felt bored by all the things I saw

It would be hit and miss. Like there is the whole concept of "I live here, but I never do these things unless people come to visit." I rarely, if ever, go to tourist attractions in my area. I literally walk past a massive one everyday, and never go inside. (Ok, I go in to get some donuts, but it's not the same.) I know when I travel, I do a lot of work to find unique local dining. I assume with a trade, the taste and experience would be new/novel. But the discovery wouldn't be there. You would just know, and know the best time to go.

I can definitely think of some experiences I wouldn’t think of doing as a tourist but I would be really excited to try for the first time. Like for example if you had never had pizza before and suddenly had the cultural knowledge of where to get the best pizza… it would be awesome to suddenly have Pizza for the first time. I think some tourist attractions would be the same way. Sure the “strange local lore” etc wouldn’t excite you, but experiencing something for the first time will always be cool.

Pretty much. It's along the lines of seperating memories from knowledge. You are getting first hand knowledge of the thing, but not sense memories of having done it.

“We’re going to this tiny place on the other side of town to get Pizza. I’ve never had pizza so I don’t know what it’s like, but apparently it’s really good and this place is the best!” It’s like having a local guide in your head lol

On the other side of the trade: “I remember having this really awesome tasting cheese, bread, and tomato sauce food a bunch of times and I’m really craving it! But I have no idea what it’s called or where to find one.”
