Super Secret Failed Comic Project! (Patreon)

When I joined TGComics, Femur mentioned that I worked on more mainstream indie comics. In fact my first interaction with Sturkwurk was at a comic convention when he came to by booth.
I've largely keep things between my work here and what I have at comic cons separate. Different pen names, different work, etc etc. I'm fairly private and don't have my real name on any of my books.
I had just wrapped up a 3 issue series and was starting a new story as Covid started to take over the world. I had started working with an artist on a project I was calling Stolen Magic. A thief has been hired to steal a magic trick from a magician.
Me and the artist (who I'll keep anonymous for now. I haven't talked to her in a while, and don't want people to bug her) worked on a the first 7 pages so we could use it as a submission to get a publisher.
Unfortunately due to the whole pandemic and being trapped at home, I kind lost all momentum I had on the project. The whole point of me wanting to make it was to take it to conventions to sell it and there was no conventions going on. Also being trapped at home didn't do anything for my mental health and I got a bit depressed as well.
Additionally, I had hit a weird wall when I would meet with publishers before starting the project. I would talk with the publisher, and friends who worked with publishers, and everything kept pushing back as this was the wrong choice.
In the most unintentional humble brag, I was too successful for the small press publishers I was meeting with. I simply sold more books on my own at comic cons than they could sell themselves in stores. But I also wasn't known enough to be able to get in with larger publishers. There were also a lot of issues about control and ownership that I was struggling with as well.
It made it very hard to push forward, and I just kind of sat on this and never did anything with it. I was also getting nervous about pushing a comic hard in the mainstream market in which the main character is trans, and that aspect of her was like the least interesting thing about her. But would still be very front and center.
Anyways, after all that rambling explanation, I've been sitting on these pages for about 4 years. I thought I would share them as a year end treat.
