Writing is on Friday afternoon as chatting and answering comments. So I thought I jot stuff down while it is fresh.

Originally on 269 we skipped over wedding and went straight to the reception. Focusing on Young-Mi and Milo dancing and having a soft walk with each other. In one of my less thought out decisions I put Young-Mi in heels. Something that in these type of stories I really should have focused on before that moment.

So I paused took a moment to see if Young-Mi's sudden comfort with heels came from her Cultural Trade. No. While they show up in a lot of K-Drama, there is too much walking for the normal woman to be wearing heels all the time.

Would this be something expected at a wedding? That way the Cultural trade would pick up on and include it. Again, no. I did a deeper dive into the dress codes and obligations for wedding guests and, the whole thing is a mess.

Short version is no heels and no reception.

At least not a reception as we know it.

Researching South Korean Weddings is a pain in the ass. On the first dive you get all the old traditional weddings with the Korean gowns and robes. I knew that wasn't right for modern day.

Then on second search you see that things are going more Western. Brides are seeing American weddings from movies and wanting that for them selves. So the white dress starts to show up and be the common look. But for guests, it's still all over the place.

While there is a lot of talk about renting specific halls and weddings being very quick, I was still thinking they would taking the idea of the Western Wedding Reception as well. So it would be cool for Young-Mi to be in a nice dress.

Once again going back in, I see like sun dresses, and I see pastels and I see all these other options. But still doesn't match with answers people are getting when asking what to wear to wedding.

Finally I was able to find the current trend. Basically wear what you would to your shitty office job. Keep the colors muted and dark so the bride can stand out. That made the most sense for Young-Mi's purple streaks to go away.

Ultimately it feels like wedding traditions there are currently in flux, and by this time next year could still be entirely different once again. Ultimately my goal is not to show the typical South Korean wedding, but to show Milo's cousin's wedding.

As for the discarded drawing of Young-Mi and Milo dancing, I'll finish it up and post it later on.
