I'm saying farewell to my 8 year long D&D character Damaris with a fun little sketch.

Awwww, what made you retire her?

When we started the campaign, none of us knew what the story was going to be. So two of us had made fairly combat focused characters. The other player swapped their character out after a couple years. I tried to make adjustments over time to make her more utility as the nature centered character was spending more and more time in cities. We eventually got to a point where her personal story had wrapped, and I was finding I had less and less I could do in the story with my main ability being arrows and the group largely avoiding fights.

Its always an emotional experience to retire a long running character

Thankfully, she won't be gone entirely. She has the ability to come back, and there is a lot of story connected to her.
