Okay, Xander actually makes a good point. Steph could have called it off after the first swap, but she didn't. This is as much her fault as it is his, and honestly most of the stuff lousing up her life is other people being...people sadly.

There was nothing forcing Steph to move forward with anything, or to legally change her name. She could have called herself Stephanie without that step.

That’s true, she made the conscious decision to remain Stephanie Hwang. Though here being stuck as Stephanie for what could be several years is another thing entirely.

I think the point could probably be argued in court that since she made the trades (IE. entered into those contracts with those people) before any of those laws were passed that she would be grandfathered in and could not be held to them choosing not to keep their end of the contract.
