Hey Coffee Mugs!

If any of you are writers, specifically of the adult-oriented variety, I have a question;

Do you listen to music when you need to write spicy scenes? And if so, do you have any good recommendations? 🤔💭

I’ve tried looking for music to put me in the mood when I want to write sensual scenes, (especially when it comes to the written smut) but everything I’ve found sounds too ‘sleazy’ 😞

This very uncommon, but I listen to video game music whenever I’m writing smut so I don’t think you’d want my opinion 😅

Will I listen to this song “Fang [EXIE MIX] ft. Curse” yes I am a nerd

Depends on the vibes of the smut scene (funny, sensual, rough and dirty), but I usually go to “The Bad Touch” by the Bloodhound Gang (cause it makes me laugh), and a lot of 90s/2000s femme sexy pop (Britney Spears, Kesha, Shakira, stuff like that). But i only write smut scenes, not smut scripts, so take my advice with a grain of salt

For a Friends to Lovers situation, my go to is Dress by Taylor Swift

Mars :P

Honestly, listening to some sort of Jazz or generic (wildly inaccurately labeled) 'gothic' music tends to do the trick :3 Anything with dynamic and layered sounds :3

This comes late but I'd like to offer my imput too. I'm not proficient with sex scenes but I do like writing intimate moments a lot, and I've realized that for my personal style I treat them a lot like dances. One character takes the lead and the other sometimes just follows the flow, and sometimes reverse the flow depending on their confidence or familiarity so if I need inspiration or to "get in the mood" I find that more than specific songs I fall more into instruments. My absolute top are Acoustic guitar and accordion so say Flamenco and Tango, or European sounding music, but I also enjoy Piano a lot so Waltzes are on the menu too. It sicerely depends on the mood that can go from something sweet like dumb teenagers discovering each other for the first time to something more dark like two rivals practically hatefucking. I won't start naming all the songs I have saved because that's an entire playlist, but if you're curious I can share some of my favorite themes for different situations. Hope this little imput helps you :3
