I wanted an earrng for years. I was afraid of what people might say or think. One weekend I got an earring in the correct ear (gay). At work on On Monday I expected comments from my coworkers. Nobody said a thing. Finally one asked what I did over the weekend. I responded about the earing. He looked at me, as though it was difficult to see. He responded "oh". I suddenly had an epiphany, no one cared. They had their own lives. They all knew i was gay. I castigated myself later for all the years where I denied myself out of concern of what others would think. What a waste of time. The lesson for me was to be myself and not judge myself by what i believed others may say or think. It was silly. It was incredibly liberating. Enjoy your life. It's in the name 'your life'.
