I grew up watching this movie, and thought i would someday look for Richie's guitar lol ... Loved it !

Mark

Tragic story ending with "The day the music died" (the song American Pie is a tribute to Buddy Holly who also died in the crash)

Dave M.

I jammed so much to Ritchie Valens in the 90s. Ahhhh what it would be to be a kid again!

Jay Bilderbeck

If you enjoyed this movie, you should consider watching The Buddy Holly Story (1978).It of course covers the same time as La Bamba because of the plane crash but the Holly story is about a music genius whose music influenced so many people. It also is well made and acted.

Collin Prout

Please give Genndy Tartarkovsky's Primal a watch pleease 🙏. I'm begging you 😭

Paul Ark

Highly recommend you watch "The Buddy Holly Story" with Gary Busey. You may recall from the Black Widow movie that Yelena's favorite song, the one that she and her "dad" Alexei sing together, is called "American Pie" by Don McLean. There was a lyric in the song that referred to "the day the music died." The song was about that plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper.

This movie is a classic for me. Even tho at the end its sad i never get tired of watching this movie and love the soundtrack. Crazy fact when my grandma past in 2014 she got buried in the same cemetery where the real Ritchie Valens was buried and saw his grave stone there. His mom past away like 3 months after they made this movie and was buried next to him. Great reaction i was waiting for u guys to react to this film.

Please reaction to " Meet Joe Black" starring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins. Thank you

Good pick. You should check out Los Lobos, the band that played La Bamba in the movie.

MacGuffinStuff

I love that they ended the movie with the song. It's Lou Diamond Phillips lip syncing David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, singing a remake of Ritchie Valens' rendition of a Mexican folk song. Meta af 🤣 Ricardo Valenzuela, I think Valenzuela is a cool name, but back then being Mexican, or even Spanish (Rita Hayworth was really Margarita Carmen Cansino, her pin up poster helped Andy escape Shawshank but she had to change her name and her hair color etc. to work in Hollywood, Martin Sheen/Estévez),... was something to be ashamed of in the US. Even Ted Williams, one of the greatest baseball players ever, and a war hero in WW2, still has the record for highest single season batting average at .406. That's godlike in baseball, unattainable, no one has even come close since, he was basically Neo back in 1941, and he was half Mexican, and he later said one of his biggest regrets was hiding his Mexican heritage, but that was how it was.
