Works here .

There was never a MiG 28, they made it up to excuse using an American made fighter (the F-5) as a stand in since it was during the cold war so they couldn't exactly use real Soviet aircraft. And as far as 'doesn't seem efficient'... well, at least late in its life before they retired them (and older aircraft are more expensive to maintain) for every hour flying an F-14 took something like 40 man-hours of maintenance and cost $35k+(best estimate of cost I've seen anyway).

Rick Rossovich (Slider, Iceman's RIO) was in "The Terminator" as Sarah's best friend's boyfriend. Merlin was played by Tim Robbins, who played Andy Dufresne in "The Shawshank Redemption." MiG stood for Mikoyan and Gurevich, which was a Soviet aircraft Design Bureau.

If you aren’t aware, Val Kilmer lost his voice in 2015 due to complications from throat cancer surgery. Tom Cruise felt it was very important to have Iceman back for the sequel and fought hard for it. They are using AI technology to recreate his voice for the film. Can’t wait to see those scenes.

Next time you do a live, you're gonna have to sing a couple songs.

I think I would go with the nickname Renegade. I would guess the flat spin was done as a miniature as well. I had to look up what bogey meant the other day, and I found in radar code, it's an unidentified enemy aircraft.

oh Shan, you do and you don't get to pick your nickname (aka call sign). your fellow pilots do and it is based on your personality or maybe something embarrassing about yourself. i think you also asked what a bogey was, it is a term used to refer to unidentified aircraft. if it is determined that the unidentified aircraft is hostile it becomes a bandit, although i didnt here them use that term in the movie. Thanks for the free concert, singing and playing was too difficult for me, i could never do it. ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE

Loved it. Even if this was a rewatch. I really like this movie as a kid and not much changed in adulthood. Although I do find some scenes quite cheesy now. I ok with as I just dismiss it as 80s Hollywood. This movie was part of the foundation that got me into aircraft maintenance as a career. Well it is time for an encore. I am off to see the new Top Gun movie today. See you at the next watch along.

Wait, where did my comment go?

Mike Henderson

The funny thing about pilots call signs is they don't get to pick them. Normally they are pick to be insulting or humorous. Read a story once by a pilot where he said his call sign was Raspberry, because every time he got nervous or excited he farted. I was 13 when Top Gun came out so, of course it was the greatest thing ever. It was a blast rewatching it.

Actually my first time watching this one, now I can go see the new one. Great commentary, probably more fun watching along, got your girl Shan singing, and seeing a first time reaction when someone is into it always pulls you in. The reviews for the new one are all great. Tom Cruise is still killing it 👍
