This movie came out during my freshman year of high school. My senior year, I had an incredible English teacher that was very much like Mr. Keating! He taught us to think FOR ourselves, to believe IN ourselves, and to always look at things from different perspectives. We all loved this teacher and dedicated our yearbook to him! I am still in contact with him, 31 years later! So many of the things I learned from him, I still live by, today! He was the best teacher I ever had! Carpe Diem!

A few years ago there was an off broadway stage version I saw with Jason Sudeikis as Mr Keating. He was very different than Robin Williams but very good in his own way. Sadly the rest of the play just didn’t work.

Also, given your love of Ridley Scott he also directed a similar inspirational teacher movie you might enjoy: White Squall with Jeff Bridges

Yeah, I was wondering when you'd realize that was Ethan Hawke. Didn't expect it would take until the end credits lol! Weird to think about Ethan Hawke being younger in this movie than Maya Hawke is in Stranger Things right now.

i know we watched this movie in high school. we also had a worksheet to fill out as the movie progressed because we cant just sit and enjoy stuff while we are on school time. so my first viewing of this movie was a chore unfortunately. thank you for doing this without making it feel like a homework assignment!!! first time i cried during the trivia section. O Captain my Captain

This is another movie where I was surprised at what it was rated (see my comments on 9 to 5). With the nudity on the picture and Neil committing suicide, I think it would give it a PG-13 rating. I think the reason we don't hear the gun shot is because it is PG. The guy playing Neil could be Jim Carrey's doppelganger. You know an actor is good when they are known for their comedy, but they do the serious roles just as well a la Good Will Hunting and Insomnia. Steve Carell did the same thing in The Big Short and Little Miss Sunshine. He was so good in those movies. I had to look up shooting location for this movie as well because it looked like either New Hampshire or Vermont to me. Surprised it was Delaware. I believe that "spring" you heard the first time they left the cave was a mouth harp. This was definitely worth the wait.

New to the channel. What is the secret to get sound?

Dan Fishman

I didn' thave sound from the movie -- I see now I'm supposed to play my own version.

Another beautiful reaction. I'm so happy that you enjoyed this so much! I see that this was special for you, from Shanelle the Robin Williams Fan-Girl to Shanelle the Robin GoodFellow Fan-Girl! I agree that Robin Williams was a wonderful performer, taken from us way too soon, from the zany Mork to the sublime Mr. Keating to Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam and of course Good Will Hunting! What's a fan-girl to do? Binge, and I'll buy you the popcorn!
