This is going to be an odd list!!

We only spoke about two Christmas Ideas but I don't think they'll perform. Focusing on views within reason has been so helpful for the channel and getting my stuff out there.

On our live, we got these:

Starship Troopers

Basic Instinct

Unforgiven

Dances with Wolves

Sicario

Prey

Hateful Eight

3:10 to Yuma

True Romance

Gangs of New York

Wolf of Wall Street

The Godfather II

We can also finish the View Askewniverse I still have to hit Clerks III and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

I think I might play knockout for the first time in a while by polling a few of these against each other

I WANT TO SEE THEM ALL

Help, please?!

Just a heads up for Hateful 8. It lives up to the title. It is just the meanest, ugliest movie Tarantino ever made. It could fuck up your mood big time for the rest of the day. Play accordingly homie.

matt

Unforgiven is a masterpiece, but I would recommend watching a few more classic westerns before seeing it.

Gangs of NY, Godfather and Wolf of Wallstreet, I know are the masterpieces of the list and I haven't even seen them yet. Those aside, Basic Instinct and Dances with Wolves are personal favorites.

shanellericcio

Im really into seeing Dances with Wolves this month for sure. The others we could just go in order just to hit for the channel

John White

Well, I do think you'd get a huge kick out of Starship Troopers, it's campy and it's a lot of fun. However, Gangs of New York has got my vote on this list. It will check off another box on your Daniel Day-Lewis "must watch" list, and he does NOT disappoint.

simpLeXity

I know it's a little off topic, but I've been looking forward to your MIB 3 reaction, was wondering if that's in the plans at all

Shawn Goforth

I think this is a decent list. I think my least favorite of these would be Sicario and Prey. I have now tried to make it through Prey twice, and turned it off both times, and that's coming from someone who adores the Alien prequel, Prometheus. I just didn't find it all that interesting. I agree with the comment above about Unforgiven, and I actually prefer the original 3:10 to Yuma over the modern remake, but it's still a fun ride, I suppose. It definitely has more action.

Bill W

I'm definitely here for Dances, Sicario, True Romance and Gangs.

Christopher Mitchell

Looking forward to them all especially "Starship Troopers", "unforgiven" , "dances with wolves" and "gangs of new York" 👍. Oh and I'm also looking forward to "prey" because that's one that I've been wanting to see for a good while.

Chris Bruneau

Sicario, True Romance, Unforgiven--hellz yeah!!!!

Bill W

I was kinda turned off by the amount of spoken exposition. It was a lot... even more than the usual from Tarantino.

Paul Cox

I don't love Starship Troopers (I also don't love Robocop or Total Recall, so ymmv—but don't love Starship Troopers the most out of the three). Gangs of New York is (pending a viewing of KOTFM) my favorite 21st century Marty Scorsese film. Can't wait for that reaction. Dances With Wolves would be a good Christmas Day drop (or Christmas Eve, whichever works better). It's a proper EPIC. And I'm always a proponent of more Costner on the channel. Basic Instinct, 3:10 To Yuma, and Sicaro would be the other reactions I'm most keen to see.

Paul Cox

Oh, and don't forget about RRR. I truly do think it's one you'd really like. The running time might be enough to make you nervous about hitting the play button, but I swear to baby jesus it FLIES BY.

MotoDork

If you do Dances With Wolves I’d personally love to see you watch the Expanded edition.

Paul Cox

That's cool, but the theatrical cut is the one 95% of people have seen, it's the one that won the Oscar, and is the one Costner says is the proper version of Dances With Wolves. The extra hour (!) of footage in the extended cut is for die-hards.

Paul Cox

https://ew.com/article/2004/01/23/true-western/ "Kevin Costner has done his share of audio commentaries, but he won’t be blamed for excesses that might’ve attended video releases of some of his movies. ”I didn’t work on the long version of Dances With Wolves,” he points out. He’s all for deleted scenes — as extras, not as grist for protracted ”directors’ cuts.” ”I release the versions I want. They are long, so I don’t need for ’em to be any longer.”"

Echo

I'm neutral on most of this, they seem equally impactful. Fun story though- when I first saw Starship Troopers I had no idea it was based on the book of the same name for some reason. It took until nearly halfway through the movie to figure out they were the same story.

Greg S.

Sicario please :)

Vince

Basic instinct and Wolf of Wall St are my favs from that list. And just to throw out a potential for a Christmas movie, Eyes Wide Shut is one always rewatch at the end the year. It’s a sneaky quasi-Christmas movie like a Die Hard.

Scot Jebens

Well, Starship Troopers would fit the third part of the unofficial Paul Verhoeven sci-fi ‘trilogy’ - Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers.

shanellericcio

And thanks for ranking these! I'm very very into Dances with Wolves, and many people have. seconded that

shanellericcio

the people aren't too into it, but I would like to complete the three. I think we can chat about it next live!

Scot Jebens

Based *very* loosely on the book. I was disappointed as I read it after seeing the movie and they hardly share anything but the title. Verhoeven didn’t even read the book before making the movie - he told Empire magazine he stopped reading the book after two chapters, finding it "boring and depressing," and asked the screenwriter to fill him in on the rest. "It is really quite a bad book.” Read More: https://www.looper.com/358395/the-real-reason-the-starship-troopers-director-never-read-the-book/

Wolf of Wall Street is just...gross. It reminds me of a Mitch Hedberg joke....."You can't be like pancakes, all exciting at first, but then by the end you're effing sick of 'em."

My Ex Boyfriend

Wolf of Wall Street and prey would be my two cents worth for getting views.

Adam Doyle

if you are doing a poll, you can split these up pretty evenly into Crime and Westerns, and Other (Starship Troopers, Prey)

Pink

I would love to see your thoughts on Godfather part 2

George Amberson

True Romance, I beg of you! And I for one would love to see you tackle The Hateful Eight, especially the extended/chaptered version on Netflix. The Wolf of Wall Street, Starship Troopers, Unforgiven, and Dances with Wolves would be my other top tier choices.

Courtney Jackson

Since it's December and you like musicals....I'd suggest Anna and the Apocalypse or maybe add it to the list for future viewing.
