I think the link is broken, it's not showing the video player. Edit* I was able to get the vimeo link via the patreon app, this one here is still busted for me though

MotoDork

Just wanted to thank you for calling me out as MotoDork. I am a dork.

MotoDork

Last video I was unable to play it. This time I am able to. Maybe give it a little time.

Vince

Oh weird. When you had the issue before, did the embed eventually start working for you, or did you watch it via the second link she provided?

Christopher Mitchell

Yeah I'm having the same problem with the link to see basic instinct.

MotoDork

I switched from my phone to my computer. Would not work on my phone. It told me the video did not exist.

Christopher Mitchell

Thanks for the link Tom B your a star 🌟 now I'm able to watch shanelle's full length watch of basic instinct 👍

I loved your reaction to the the interrogation scene where Sharon uncrossed her legs and showed no undies and yeah that scene has been parodied in such things as the comedy spoof movie "loaded weapon 1" to an episode of "the simpsons" believe it or not and then the similar scene with nick (but without the crossed legs). Also the image on Nick's TV at 59:40 is from the horror movie "hellraiser" based on a Clive barker novella "the hellbound heart" and Clive barker also directed "hellraiser".

Chris Bruneau

This movie is downright steamy! they don't have sex scenes like THAT anymore in films!!!

Tom B

This was fantastic! I remember there was a thing about people buying a lot of ice picks after this movie was released. There are a few nods to Vertigo in this of course; the detective following and becoming obsessed with the subject. Both characters are very light in tone/makeup; both have the light blonde French bun which helps show their facial features. Both Catherine and Madeline wear white coats; but Chatherine wears a white dress as archetypally you pointed out is "innocent" where Madeline wears a black dress. This is a great direction trick because Madeline is aware that she is involved in the plot but we're not going to tell you for sure if Catherine is or not. :)

There is another excellent Paul verhoeven film you might like shanelle, it's called "hollow man" and it stars Kevin bacon, Elizabeth shue and Josh brolin.

Fun reaction! You mentioned maybe wanting to do more mysteries, Gone Girl from 2014 would be a great one if you haven’t seen it. It’s kinda in the same vein as Basic Instinct, and should be a popular one.

Chris Bruneau

Shan, you asked about the cops' clothes--detectives always wear civilian clothes, which is why no uniforms. Also, Michael Douglas played a detective in a popular 1970s TV show called "the streets of San Francisco"--so kinda reprising his earlier role!

Shawn Goforth

I'm not sure if I buy that Beth was completely framed in this, especially after they reveal that she lied about Gus leaving her a message to meet him at the end. Why else would she be there? I thought it was more likely, that Catherine was also prepared to kill, but decided against it, after he said he didn't need the rugrats.

Basic Instinct 2 is a must watch!
