As a child, the concept of genies and magic lamps was an obsession for me. The movie that sparked that fascination was Aladdin et la Lampe Merveilleuse (1970), which I used to rent over and over at the now-defunct video rental stores. Naturally, when Disney released its version (far superior), I was ecstatic, and my excitement was renewed once again back then. Recently, while reminiscing about it with a friend, I decided that this year’s Lusty Summon would be a Djinn. Let’s see how it turns out.

I'm guessing it's going to end up with you impaled on a giant genie weenie, based on past history...🤭

Ohhhh! Phenomenal cosmic power! Hmmm.... Whatever could come next?

It's rare for an Aladdin adaptation to keep the 2 genies and the ring (probably based on the mythical seal of Solomon). I'll go watch that movie, out of curiosity.

Sadly, I can hardly recommend it. As a child it was pure magic for me, but from an adult’s perspective it’s terrible, especially the animation quality. Even so, it has some nice things: the music is kind of charming in a very classic style, and the story is quite well adapted from the original tale, though softened for a child audience.

Too late, I started watching it. And I like it so far. But your critique is valid, it aged a lot. At least they got the princess' name right. https://youtu.be/9RkBvBgT6fY

Oh. That's ugly, indeed. Just looked on wiki, there are a lot of animated versions of Aladdin, almost 3 per decade. I was on the 1982 japanese one, you saw the 1970 french one.
