Actually one of the cooler episodes of Star Trek to be honest and a very minor nod to the fact that Starfleet is, in fact, a military organization, rather than an exploratory organization with military-style ranking.

USS Hathaway

The USS Hathaway (NCC-2593) was a 23rd century Federation Constellation-class starship operated by Starfleet. This ship was launched in 2285 from the Copernicus Ship Yards on Luna, and was equipped with Avidyne impulse engines. In preparation for Operation Lovely Angel in 2365, the Hathaway had been stripped down and was towed to the planet Braslota II in the Braslota system.
