We all like or love Star Trek a lot, or we wouldn't be here.  I wouldn't be writing a Star Trek fanfiction and you wouldn't be reading my story if you didn't.

I came across this video on TikTok and it really resonated with me, so I had to share it.  Once you watch it you might think that's ironic coming from me, considering my story has a modern 20th century human in Gothic who largely thinks humanity and the people of the Federation are happily drinking the Kool-Aid.

Gothic spends a lot of thinking Starfleet is full of idiots who could be doing things so much better and that they better get their act together if they're going to survive the Dominion. That's absolutely true.  But Gothic also greatly respects the great strides Earth has made, how well they've recovered from the wars that nearly ended the species, how they've eliminated hunger and poverty and life is damn good on Earth, etc.  That's why he's willing to help Section 31.

So, watch this video and tell me what you think or just share your reaction.  Is the message of hope what attracted you to the mythology in the first place?  Or was it something else?  Or do you think this guy (and me) is full of shit??  :-)

100% agree. There's so much dark in the future, even in star wars, that the almost naively happy outlook of star trek is a fresh air. Definitely does give me hope

Exploration just for The sake of it. Most of human history exploration ment to find something to exploit. Sure you have darwIns and the like, but it was mostly resources that drive exploration.

I agree completely, regardless of how much darkness lays ahead in the future there is still a chance for hope, a new dawn not only for humanity but a chance to explore the frontiers of not only our own world but beyond.

I'm gonna be honest, I read your story because you Beta for Noodle and he recommended it, so I figured I'd give it a shot. You definitely didn't disappoint, otherwise I wouldn't be here as a patron. I never really got into Star Trek, but your story is so good, and you do such a good job with it that I ignored that to read it, and haven't regretted it since. Anything that's unfamiliar to me I just look up, but for the most part it's all pretty self explanatory or I know about it through osmosis. I did go and watch the remake movies after reading your story though. I know it's not the same, but they were entertaining at least.

I'll also be honest I only recently loved star trek by that I mean the 2008 remake and sequels with Chris pine but I agreed star trek does give you that kind of hope although I feel you can get a similar feeling of hope from late seasons of Stargate sg1 and possibly Atlantis
