Have to admit, I kind of spitballed this one, when I said it would normally take 6-9 months to build a ship like the new FT.  If you guys feel like my number is bullshit, too low or too high, let's talk about it in the comments.  How long do you guys think it would take in the Star Trek universe in a traditional shipyard?

"First off, wow, I had no idea your many talents included starship design and this design is very advanced and innovative, I can tell that just from a glance. It’s interesting that you chose a Federation design aesthetic. Second, when you said you were redesigning and upgrading your ship, I thought maybe you'd be making it a bit bigger since it's only slightly larger than a runabout now, maybe upgrade the engine speed or weapons. This is way, way beyond what I thought you were talking about. It’s an entirely new ship! These dimensions put it close to an Intrepid-class ship!" Dax exclaimed, taken aback at how big this ship was. "How do you possibly plan to build something like this with just us? A starship like this would require a dedicated shipyard with hundreds of workers, a ton of raw materials, and probably 6 to 9 months to build."

How long does it really take to construct a starship?

No I think you had the right idea for 6-9 months to build ships of that size with dedicated shipyards maybe faster with wartime production of needed non replicated parts but not sped upd more than a month or so also manpower plays a major factor along with replication time for parts and as I said the production of non replicatable parts with what Gothic pulled he could build a fleet killer dreadnought in at least 2 months with 3 of those suped up power cores so a month or so for his light cruiser is about right as he has all necessary parts already

I also think 6-9 months is about right for the Federation on a class of ships that are ready to be put in to production. I think it would 12 to 24 months to build a prototype.
