There is only one real depiction of a planetary defense net in Star Trek and that appeared in Star Trek: Picard last season, made by the Romulans.  I'm trying to envision what that would look like in my fic, and I keep coming back to something that appeared in a one-off episode of Stargate: SG1, the AG-3 Satellite defense net.

It's a pretty potent looking orbital defense platform.  As this would be based on Minosian technology, it would be a shield and energy weapon only, as the Minosians didn't often build weapons that used one-off torpedoes or consumables.

What do you guys think?

AG-3 satellite

The AG-3 satellite (standing for "Anti-Goa'uld") was a planetary defense platform Dr. Daniel Jackson invented during a dream sequence triggered by Shifu. Having been given the genetic memory of the Goa'uld, he devised the system to be the perfect defense against them.

I'd say on Orbital Defence Platform based on a spinal phaser lance would be a pretty solid choice; something lake a scaled down ODP MAC platform from Halo would do the trick. It's a design that's can be scaled down or up in size and in numbers and can be fairly easily balanced in power scaling, depending on power draw and how many exist, could possibly be retro fitted for other duties like shield generators or strike craft hangers.

I always imagined that in the Star Trek verse ODP's were only a minor part of a planets defense. They worked in unison with combat craft and auxiliary craft in a layered defense works.

My understanding is that a MAC platform fires a solid shell, or some kind of liquid metal. Minosian weapons technology is all energy based. Shields are a definite yes. Strike craft hangers, probably not.

I'd say that's accurate and probably ideal, but Federation stupidity means many worlds don't have either. If Kessik IV (and others) are presented with a powerful planetary defense system, unmanned and requiring nothing more than a fixed investment, I'd see many choosing the defense platform. I don't want to give too much away, but my tentative plans are to give them an annual rental agreement on the technology. That way Gothic maintains complete control over his proprietary and secret technology. Part of the rental/licensing agreement is maintenance is included and automated. The planet has administrator control over the entire system, but if they don't pay their annual bills, then he can repossess it. The rub is going to be few Federation worlds, at least ones he doesn't have some good relations with, will trust deploying a defense platform that they don't full control. So, maybe his bread and butter will be the independent worlds or less prosperous Federation worlds. I'm still fleshing this out in my head.
