I'm not exactly a Star Trek purist, but I wondered whether I would actually like this episode of Strange New World when it was being advertised.  I actually quite liked it.  The music was excellent and firmly in the Star Trek world and it did something that maybe only Star Trek: Voyager dabbled with here and there with the Doctor's singing.

The Klingon K-Pop scene, in particular, though short, was great and I rewound it multiple times.  I could have watched several minutes of that alone.  The synchronized blade work, the Klingons fighting the singing then feeling embarrassed at the end, Sam Kirk low key jamming to it, it all worked for me.

What did you guys think of the episode?  A great addition to Star Trek canon?  Or blasphemy and we should never speak of it again?

Final K-Pop Klingons

The absolute most fabulous part of Subspace Rhapsody S02E09 of Strange New World. All rights are owned by Paramount and not by me. For those unaware, the lead Klingon is played by Bruce Horak who in Season One played the Chief Engineer Hemmer, a blind Andorian character.

Today star trek is a joke which is why I am a member of your patreon. If I could get good fiction I would not read so much FanFiction.

Though musical episodes aren't my thing it was still good, the explanation of it being a subspace whatever made sense, the dancing made it a little hard though, may have to rewatch it a few more times.

I think it'll grow on you. And I like they tried to integrate a rationale for it. As much as some might protest, ST has long had a history with music and singing. TOS and Voyager in particular.

I appreciate the thought. Fanfiction is a guilty pleasure for me, and while I find maybe 1 out 10 fanfics actually worthy of my time, finding that single gem makes it all worth it.
